Performance of fuzzy algorithm based handover process for personal communication systems 基于模糊算法的个人通信系统切换过程性能研究

Recent advances in radio systems technology have led to the development of wireless systems which could provide universal access to the users. To support higher user density, high user mobility, and enhanced network capacity, extensive frequency reuse in microcellular systems becomes necessary. Small cell radii result in more frequent handovers which in general overload other vital functions of the network control. This paper presents a new fuzzy logic based handover algorithm which results in sharp reduction in the number of handovers from those when a conventional algorithm is used. Furthermore, the proposed handover decision may be extended to include multiple performance criteria in order to make the handover process more robust while minimizing the number of unnecessary handovers.

Commissioning of the first GSM cellular system for Delhi-an overview 德里首个GSM蜂窝系统的调试——概述

This paper describes the steps Bharti Cellular Limited went through in implementing a GSM cellular network in Delhi. The network is not only the first in Delhi, but also one of the first to start operations in India. The typical problems BCL experienced in engineering this network are likely to be repeated in other parts of the country where such networks are planned to be installed in the near future. Primarily the discussions follow the steps of the design, installation, commissioning, testing and operation & maintenance of the network.

Mobile station emergency locating in GSM GSM移动站应急定位

The positioning of a mobile station (MS) will become mandatory in the US in the near future to support enhanced emergency calls (E911). Also a lot of other applications are foreseen for the location service, when implemented. In the US a five-year, three-phase implementation of the E911 services is the most likely scenario. The authors study the feasibility of the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) for the MS emergency locating in each of the three phases. The results are relevant to all GSM based systems, i.e., to DCS 1800 and to PCS 1900. The TDMA based GSM offers some inherent means of calculating the location of the MS. The serving cell is already known by the mobile switching centre (MSC) and if wanted also by the operation and maintenance center (OMC). A set of measurement functions is already implemented in the MS that can be used to locate it more accurately. We investigate the use of timing advance (TA) and observed timing difference (OTD). By using the existing measurement functions the complexity of the handsets and the network does not increase much and additional costs remain moderate.

DCBWL: a new channel borrowing scheme for mobile cellular communication systems DCBWL:移动蜂窝通信系统的一种新的信道借用方案

A new directional channel borrowing without locking (DCBWL) scheme which allows each cell to lend its channels to its adjacent cells without locking them in nearby co-channel cells is presented. Performance of the new scheme is compared with that of a channel borrowing without locking (CBWL) scheme by computer simulation of a 49-cell model of a mobile cellular system. It is shown by simulation results that the new scheme has much lower call blocking probability as compared to the CBWL scheme, for both uniform and hot-spot call traffic patterns.

Personal messaging through INSAT-MSS 通过INSAT-MSS发送个人信息

With the availability of Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) payload on the INSAT-2C satellite, launched-in December, 1995, introduction of one-way low bit rate Personal Messaging Service (PMS) from small hand-held terminals becomes feasible. The one way messaging service concept is the reverse of paging service. However, unlike terrestrial based paging service, which is limited to the local areas, the PMS via INSAT would be available across the country as the satellite footprints cover the entire country. The PMS can be introduced advantageously through the Reporting Service which is one of the proposed services of the INSAT-MSS system. Coupling the one-way PMS with terrestrial paging service and satellite data broadcast service can considerably enhance the value and versatility of this service. In this paper the proposed Reporting Service of INSAT-MSS is briefly described. The marginal modifications required to the Reporting Service configuration, which is essentially meant for enterprise communications, to introduce one-way PMS are identified.

Wireless connectivity is being deployed in networks in a very big way. Whether it is mobile communications, fixed telephony through WLL or wireless personal communication. The available spectrum is scarce and thus it is a very precious resource. It has to be used judiciously, to meet the objectives of the network operator. Some of the principles used for cell planning for mobile networks especially for the GSM network are highlighted.

Location services using cellular digital packet data 使用蜂窝数字分组数据的定位服务

This paper presents how a standard mobile data technology, cellular digital packet data (CDPD) can be used to provide a location service. The location service considered is a means of locating mobiles as and when they move (on land) from one point to another. This kind of service is very useful in applications such as fleet management for road transport, emergency services and dynamic route guidance. The location service provided as a part of the CDPD standards enable mobiles to be located with an accuracy of a cell size which is of the order of a few kilometers. The paper also presents an alternative approach for providing a location service by integrating the CDPD data service with a standard positioning system, such as GPS, for locating mobiles with a precision of about 100 meters.

UMTS-a path to 3rd generation mobile communications of the 21st century umts -通往21世纪第三代移动通信的道路

UMTS aims at advanced global mobile communication services within the WARC-92 identified frequency bands of 1885-2025 and 2110-2200 MHz. The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) is defining UMTS as the European 3rd generation system within the global FPLMTS framework. UMTS standards and ITU recommendations for FPLMTS will be available for the introduction of systems around the year 2000. The GSM evolution will possibly implement some UMTS services already before the commercial introduction of UMTS which is planned to take place in Europe for the year 2002. UMTS services include speech, messaging, fax, data, video, high bit rate bearers up to 2 Mbps, local area systems (PABXs or LANs), teleshopping and the distribution of information products. UMTS expands mobile communications beyond the current density and applications of fixed and mobile telephony, meaning practically a UMTS terminal to every active citizen.

Reduced complexity fractionally spaced MIMO equalizers for multitone systems without guard time 降低复杂性分数间隔MIMO均衡器多音系统无保护时间

When OFDM or multitone modulation is used, the dispersiveness of the channel is usually circumvented by means of the guard time technique. As an alternative it is possible not to use a guard time but design receivers able to equalize the intersymbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI). We show how to design fractionally spaced linear or decision-feedback MIMO equalizers for multitone systems without the guard time. Full complexity and reduced complexity solutions are investigated. The design is made for an MMSE criterion and the steady-state performance is analyzed. It is shown that MIMO equalization outperforms the guard time technique, that fractionally spaced devices are very effective and the complexity reduction produces a performance degradation which is negligible compared to full complexity fractionally spaced devices, especially when the processing rate is larger than the symbol rate.

As an alternative it is possible not to use a guard time but design receivers able to equalize the intersymbol interference (ISI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI). We show how to design fractionally spaced linear or decision-feedback MIMO equalizers for multitone systems without the guard time. Full complexity and reduced complexity solutions are investigated. The design is made for an MMSE criterion and the steady-state performance is analyzed. It is shown that MIMO equalization outperforms the guard time technique, that fractionally spaced devices are very effective and the complexity reduction produces a performance degradation which is negligible compared to full complexity fractionally spaced devices, especially when the processing rate is larger than the symbol rate.","PeriodicalId":117877,"journal":{"name":"1996 IEEE International Conference on Personal Wireless Communications Proceedings and Exhibition. An adaptive power control and coding scheme for mobile radio systems 一种用于移动无线电系统的自适应功率控制和编码方案

We propose a dynamic combined power control and forward error correction control (FEC) algorithm for mobile radio systems that can minimize the power consumed by wireless transmitters while increasing the number of simultaneous connections. This algorithm is distributed, where individual transmitter-receiver pairs determine the minimal power and FEC to satisfy specified quality-of-service (QOS) constraints. We present simulation results showing that this algorithm outperforms previous algorithms that use only power control.
