This short communication aimed to acquire and transmit information about inserting CAD/CAM technology in the dental school’s curriculum to better prepare dental students for new approaches. The CAD/CAM system implementation has occurred slowly in the dental curriculum at universities. In 2012, authors evaluated the use of CEREC, showing an educational tool impacting the cost-effectivity for patients. A similar result was found in 2013, with an appreciation of the marginal fit and esthetic obtained. In 2014, CAD/CAM was incorporated into the predoctoral curriculum at the Indiana University School of Dentistry, showing good or excellent overall learning. In 2017, a CAD/CAM system was implemented at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry’s predoctoral implant program, which had an increased preference and proportion of implant restorations made digitally. In 2018, a German dental school used CAD/CAM in the curriculum of prosthetic education, obtaining a clear tendency for the use of this technology. In 2023, pre-doctoral dental students in the U.S.A. received a questionnaire that significantly improved their knowledge and attitude to using this technology; otherwise, student satisfaction was non-significant. In conclusion, integrating CAD/CAM technology into the curriculum has become an essential component of modern dental education.

Candidiasis, commonly known as a “yeast infection” is an opportunistic fungal infection. Though present in normal oral microbiota, Candida can attain an infectious state in certain cases. Untreated infections can become life threatening, especially in immunocompromised individuals. Florid infections involving esophagus and distal GIT can lead to ulcerations and fungemia. Timely management of candidiasis is critical to prevent life threatening complications. Any contributing systemic conditions can make the diagnostic process elusive and challenging. A thorough knowledge of candidiasis, variations in presentation and its management strategies are instrumental in diagnosis and management. A detailed discussion on pathogenesis, various forms of oral candidiasis and their pharmacological management is beyond the scope of discussion in this case report. However, a brief classification, diagnostic tools and pharmacological management is mentioned in the discussion section. This is a clinical case of a 54-year-old female patient with intraoral white lesions referred by her primary care physician to our dental practice and also to an ENT specialist due to insurance reasons. The patient’s complex medical history has contributed to such clinical findings. Due to the limited scope of our practice, lack of access to an oral pathologist or oral medicine department within the health system and the patient’s concern about personal financial responsibility, the patient was recommended to follow up with an in insurance network ENT specialist as referred by her primary care physician. At 3 weeks follow up, ~98% of the lesions were all healed. The patient disclosed receiving treatment with Clotrimazole 10 mg troche 5 times a day for 2 weeks from an ENT specialist. From the clinical presentation, medical history, polypharmacy and positive treatment outcome, hyperplastic candidiasis was considered as the final diagnosis.

On March 21, 2020, the "Janta Curfew" was enforced in India and extended in three parts, restricting all movement. Due to the lack of physical medical services available during that time, the suffering of people with various oral conditions increased. There was an essential lag in this face-toface treatment during the lockdown, and the dental treatment of children declined the most among all age groups. The altered stress-related sleep patterns in younger children led parents to use faulty methods to promote sleep more frequently, such as bottle-feeding children with fermentable liquids like milk rather than honey or sugar-laden pacifiers. These actions increased their vulnerability to developing early childhood caries (ECC). The COVID-19 pandemic provides a reason for dentistry to move from a surgical intervention-based approach to that emphasising prevention and associated with the decreased aerosol generation, such as selective carious tissue excavation, sealants, resin infiltration, Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) application, and Hall technique. The current scenario should also prompt the researchers to do additional research applying the pandemic "shock" to dentistry to systematically explore how treatment delays affect dental health and overall well-being.

Oral Health Influencing Systemic Health: A Journey of Crossroads 口腔健康影响全身健康:一个十字路口的旅程

It is rightly said that the mouth is the mirror of the body and no organ is disconnected to one and another. The various organ systems are interconnected to each other through the system biology through the flow of matter via blood vessels and lymph. The oral disease is mainly caused by periodontal microbiome mainly periodontal bacteria and viruses. The past literature suggests the link of oral and systemic diseases through focal infection and transient bacteremia contributing towards the inflammatory state in a number of systemic diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, have been strongly linked to oral health. Two mechanisms have been proposed to account for the connections that have been found. First and foremost, persistent oral inflammation can raise blood levels of inflammatory markers, which might impair immune function or add to the body's overall illness load. Second, systemic endotoxemia or bacteremia, which can affect diseases at distant sites or the entire body, might enter the bloodstream via the mouth cavity and act as a reservoir for harmful bacteria

Introduction Dental caries remains the most common childhood disease, despite studies around the world showing a decline in the incidence and prevalence among 5and 12-year-olds. Globally, the prevalence of dental caries ranges from 49% to 83% across different countries. In India, a comprehensive National Health Survey (2004) reported caries prevalence is 51.9% in children at 5 -years of age and 53.8% in 12 years aged children.2 Based on the report submitted by the Global Burden of Disease, Dental Caries is still an unresolved oral health problem, having more than two billion people enduring the repercussions of this very much preventable condition worldwide.3 Untreated caries in children adversely impacts the dental health-associated quality of life, leading to pain, abscess, and systemic complications like fever and lymphadenopathy.4

To examine & assess how varied InterligTM glass fibre placement & orientation affect fracture resistance of large class II cavities in maxillary premolars -An In Vitro study. Class II (MOD) cavities were organized with uniform dimensions on 50 extracted human maxillary premolars, and samples were erratically distributed into 5 groups (n = 10 each) as follows: Group I contains composite materials; Group II contains composite + horizontal Interlig placement on the gingival & pulpal floors; Group III contains composite + horizontal Interlig placement only on the pulpal floors; Group IV contains composite + vertical Interlig placement on the gingival & pulpal floors; and Group V contains composite + Interlig chips. Fracture resistance of all samples was tested using universal testing machine following restorations and the thermocycling process. Under a stereomicroscope, the fracture modes were examined. One-way ANOVA & Tukey test were used to analyse data, with significance values of P 0.05. The fracture strength of control group was 736.8640 N while it was 1233.4480 N for group 2, 1223.2260 N for group 3, 1185.0440 N for group 4 and 797.5600 N for group 5. Fracture strength of group 5 was more than other groups except for group 1, there was no statistically substantial modifications. Fortification of composite with fiber does upsurge fracture resistance of wide Class II mesio-occluso-distal premolars cavities significantly.

Replacement of missing mandibular central incisor is difficult challenge in esthetic dentistry. Resin bonded bridges or maryland bridges can be considered as a treatment of choice in such conditions, which restore the oral function and esthetic of the patient. Maryland bridge preparation requires minimal preparation of the tooth and the bridge can be attached to the periodontally sound adjacent teeth. The combined use of polyethylene fibre and resin composite help achieve durable and functional result. This case report describes the case of esthetic restoration of a young women with midline spacing of mandibular anterior teeth.
