Media convergence has ushered in salient modifications to the functions and operation of journalists, and the journalism profession at large. Although media convergence is, to a large extent, beneficial to media organizations and their users, it challenges the operations of journalist and their functions. The history of media evolution has constantly shown that the introduction of new technology into the media landscape does not signal an end to the prevailing journalistic practices, rather it fosters the evolution and adaptation of the existing media while contributing to the development of the successor. The research utilized the qualitative research method and made use of the explorative approach, with secondary data, to ascertain the issues and challenges confronting journalism practice in Nigeria in the age of media convergence. Findings revealed time pressure, professional competencies, the question of quality, internal competition, the rise of user-created content, poor remuneration and the welfare of the Journalist as major convergence challenges facing journalism in Nigeria. The paper, therefore, concluded that technology has come to merge the different roles of the journalist and media institutions to create multimedia outlets for news gathering, processing and dissemination. Hence, the need for journalists to be versatile in their operations, adhere to the journalistic code of ethics and professional conduct and be properly motivated by their employers to drive optimal performance.

The objectives of the study were to examine the role of digital technology on public relations practice in Nigeria, identify types of digital technology and examine the positive and negative impacts of digital technology on public relations practices. The study made use of qualitative research methods which relied on books, journals, internet sources, review of related literature to critically discourse the impact of digital media on public relation practice. The study which was anchored on uses and gasification theory and technology determinism theory revealed that the advent of digital technology has greatly impacted how public relations has been practised in Nigeria. The study concluded that digital technology has transformed modern life by adding immeasurable benefits to it. The study recommended that to maintain a favourable image in the organization, public relations practitioners should maintain absolute control over this new media technology and continually monitor the web for unwanted online exposure. Furthermore, inadequate and erroneous online information broadcast by disgruntled employees, customers, and stakeholders should be promptly addressed by PR experts in organizations to avoid unfriendly relations with the public.

The main objective of this study was to determine the relationship between turnaround strategies and organizational resilience in selected manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State Specifically, the study assessed the relationship between financial restructuring, reorganizing strategies and organizational resilience in selected manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State. A descriptive research design was used in the study. The population of this study consisted of 1054 employees of the selected manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State, from where a sample size of 248 was selected using Taro Yamane formulae. Two instruments titled Turnaround Strategy Questionnaire (TSQ) and Organizational Resilience(ORQ) were used for the study. Data were analysed through simple percentage and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC), using the Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS version 2022). The findings of the study revealed that: financial restructuring has a positive and significant relationship ( ‘r’ = 0.709, P-value = 0.016) with organizational resilience, that there is a positive and significant relationship (‘r’ = 0.640, p-value = 0.042) between reorganizing strategy and organizational resilience of selected manufacturing firms in Akwa Ibom State. The study therefore recommended, among others, that management and owners of manufacturing firms in the state should adapt to changes that occur in the environment which may lead to improved profit in the organization.

The study analyzed development strategies for Africa with specific emphasis on lessons from the developed countries of Europe, Asia, the United States of America, and Canada. Development is akin to a sustainable livelihood, hence, the need for a country to devise means for the achievement and maintenance of accelerated improvements in the holistic affairs of the people and their environs. The objectives of the study were to analyze major development strategies suitable for African countries, identify challenges of development strategies in African countries and proffer solutions to ameliorate them. The Economic Theory of Modernization was adopted for the study. The qualitative research methodology which is mainly descriptive was adopted for the study through the use of secondary sources of data like internet sources, textbooks, journals, etc. It was discovered that primary exports and diversification, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI); planned use of external aids, natural resources economics, and domestic resource mobilization, constitutes major development strategies for the underdeveloped and developing countries of Africa. It was also discovered that problems of unorganized vision and plans, corruption, poor funding, ineffective tax administration system and poor plan implementation and evaluation limit the success of development strategies in African countries. It was recommended that special funds for development plans should be independent of the general budget and agencies of implementation and evaluation should be created for any development plan or programme.

The thesis of the study was that though the Niger Delta region is the major producer of oil which is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy, the region has been neglected for decades as resources from oil in the region have not translated to commensurate development of infrastructure with its contribution to the national purse. The study made use of secondary data in its methodology which offered an opportunity to gather adequate and useful information for the study. Results from findings show that the federal government of Nigeria derailed the social contract between it and the Niger Delta region. The study discovered that despite the availability of highly educated human resources in the Niger Delta, appointments to positions such as Group Managing Director of the NNPC and Minister of Petroleum Resources have been negatively skewed toward the Region. The paper frowned at the Federal government’s marginalization of the Niger Delta which it observed is the main cause of frustration of the people thereby making them aggressive and antagonistic towards the federal government, concluding that the unending crises in the Delta are due to government insensitivity to the poor conditions of the people. To forestall further crises in the region, the paper recommended among others, the provision of adequate infrastructure in the region, the appointment of indigenes to managerial positions in the oil industry and the floating of a special scholarship scheme for indigent students of the region.
