Folktale is part of people's culture and heritage which represent an identity of a society. Malaysia is rich with folktale which is traditionally transmitted orally from generation to generation. Unfortunately this heritage is slowly being forgotten by our young generation. We studied digital game as a means to deliver folktales to technologically savvy youngsters. m-MyTale is a mobile game developed for mobile device using popular Malay folktale “Puteri Gunung Ledang” or “The Princess of Mount Ledang” as back story, to give awareness and promote the stories to young generation especially on culture and heritage. The game was developed with storytelling approach using simple 2D animation. The back story is based on a marriage proposal by the Sultan of Malacca, Mahmud Syah, to the princess. The game challenge and levels are based on the seven requirements stated by the princess. Each level required an item to be collected by the player to complete the game. Two other modules are play guide and synopsis of the story. This paper discusses the design and development of a mobile game to motivate young generation especially teenagers on their culture and heritage.

Personal disease management and prevention are essential for promoting the healthy community. How to establish the health promotion environment becomes an attractive topic in nowadays. In this paper, we investigate the approaches of patient monitoring and care under the cloud-based telecare system. By considering the scenarios for fixed and mobile users, the cost-effective health promoting methods are proposed and simple experiments are conducted verify the effectiveness of the methods.

This paper proposes a reversible watermarking technique that utilizes the IPCM macroblocks generated by the H.264/AVC encoder. The technique applies the concept of Differential Expansion (DE) to the pixels of the luminance and the chrominance components within the IPCM macroblocks of the P-frames. The performance of the proposed algorithm was tested for a number of video sequences and compared to similar techniques. The results show that the watermark thus embedded is of a high capacity while at the same time ensured minimal bitrate increase and negligible degradation of PSNR values.

Water resources system has obvious complexity and uncertainty, so water resources allocation and scheduling management is a typical group decision-making problem. Determining how to generate the optimum solution set by computing is the key to the research and development of water resources scheduling decision group support system. For this problem, in the existing group decision support systems on water resources scheduling, the effective methods have not been developed. This paper proposes the algorithm of group decision making optimal scheme set based on Agent calculation. The proposed algorithm can generate the optimal scheme set by using the multi-Agent calculation based on the genetic algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can make the coordination satisfaction degree of each group decision-making convergence, and effectively generate optimal solutions set through calculation.

In previous work, the constrained independent component analysis (cICA) algorithm has been proposed to extract the interested signals from the mixtures of some source signals. However, the simultaneous extraction of all signals at the same time presented by cICA prolongs the processing time of this algorithm to extract output signals. In this paper, we introduce a new version of the cICA algorithm to improve cICA in the computational time aspect. By whitening input signals, normalizing weight vectors, and using the one-by-one extraction of output signals, our proposed cICA algorithm has reduced the computational time to recover original signals when compared with the conventional cICA. Meanwhile our proposed cICA algorithm still retains the same recovering performance with that of the conventional cICA. Moreover, in this paper, we also introduce a potential application of our proposed cICA and the conventional cICA on the speech separation problem using priori information to extract the interested speech signals from mixed signals.

Wireless sensor and actor networks are becoming a basis for a rapidly increasing range of applications in industrial measurement-control (M&C) systems. Each application has different requirements in terms of M&C task, node functionalities, network size, complexity and cost; therefore, it is worthwhile time investment to design and implement a middleware for wireless sensor and actor networks that would be adaptable to various industrial applications of interest with a minimum amount of effort. In this paper, a general-purpose application platform is presented. It provides a solution to reuse coordination, real-time routing, task distribution mechanisms, which facilitates the development of new application systems, and reduces the cost of design and maintain.

We report what we learned in developing a QCD (Quantum Chromo Dynamics) code on Cell/B.E., i.e., necessary procedures to realize an efficient high performing program and an obstacle to prevent the peak performance of the Cell/B.E.. We found that we can almost reach to the machine peak performance, and the bottle-neck is the memory bandwidth which reduces the efficiency about one tenth. We discuss the next task for constructing a satisfactory problem solving environment of QCD.
