An efficient analysis algorithm for global steady-state characterization of switching power converters is presented. In addition to the conventional simulation of converter operation, the global steady-state characterization allows investigation of peaks, ripples, average and rms values of converter internal variables as they vary in response to changes of operating conditions and component parameters. Computer simulation and experimental results are also presented.

A general technique is developed for the finding and stability analysis of periodic state-space orbits in switched DC power converter systems. The technique is exact for circuits with ideal components and is easily programmed, which makes it a useful tool for automated circuit analysis and design. A computer procedure is created in MATLAB that can find and analyze periodic orbits for systems of arbitrary complexity with given state-space matrices and inputs. An example of such analysis is presented for a buck converter circuit with first order controller.

Efficient and sufficiently accurate analytical models are valuable tools for the design of planar magnetic components. This paper describes a new analytical model of winding capacitances and dielectric losses for planar transformers. It is compared qualitatively with a more simple model valid for wire wound components and validated against measured capacitances of some prototypes. The new model can be used to optimize the design of planar magnetic components. Optimizing the thickness of the insulation layers between the copper layers of a planar winding is shown as an example.

A digital implementation of delta-hysteresis current regulation 一种delta-迟滞电流调节的数字实现

In this paper, a DSP controller-based digital delta-hysteresis regulation (DDHR) scheme is proposed that allows motor drive systems to maintain relatively accurate control of phase currents in the event of the loss of all phase current sensors. Within the scheme, phase currents are reconstructed using knowledge of the DC-link current and switching states. The generation of switching signals is based upon traditional delta-hysteresis regulation (DHR). However, modifications are made to DHR to ensure the DC-link current always contains sufficient information to reconstruct phase currents. Experimental results obtained from a vector-controlled induction machine are used to show that there is a relatively small difference between the performance of the DHR and DDHR schemes.

The subject of this paper is to introduce the SIMULINK behavior models for simulation and verification which are constructed in our laboratory to help speed up the learning process of designing DC-DC switching converter circuits using special purpose control ICs. The accordance of the simulation and experimental results for both transient and steady-state responses make these SIMULINK modules very effective teaching aids for basic power electronics courses. With the help of these behavior models, students can learn faster and more practical issues in designing a switching converter circuit.

In this paper the authors present the results of a study on the use of multiple converter operating in interleaved mode to reduce harmonics and the size of reactive components. DC-DC converter and AC/DC converters with integrating power factor correction operation are discussed. A case study of an interleaved boost power factor converter is analyzed and the simulation and experimental results are presented. The results show the positive impact of the integration of another active device in the circuit to help reducing the harmonics on the supply side.

Series-parallel approaches and clamp methods for extreme dynamic response with advanced digital loads 具有先进数字负载的极端动态响应的串并联方法和夹紧方法

The series-input parallel-output dc-dc converter combination provides inherent sharing among the converters. With conventional controls, however, this sharing is unstable. Recent literature work proposes complicated feedback loops to correct the problem, at the cost of dynamic performance. This paper shows that a simple sensorless current mode control stabilizes sharing with fast dynamics suitable for advanced digital loads. With this control in place, a "super-matched" current sharing control emerges. Sharing occurs through transients, limited only by the energy limits of the converters. The control approach has considerable promise for high-performance voltage regulator modules. For even faster response, clamping techniques are proposed.

Power-hardware-in-the-loop (PHIL) simulation is a scenario where a simulation environment virtually exchanges power with real hardware, in contrast to the usual case in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation, which involves only signal exchange. In this paper, a novel interface for PHIL simulation is proposed and implemented. This new interface addresses some of the stability issues typically present in this kind of application. A complete PHIL experiment is then performed with the new interface, and the experimental results are presented.

Algorithm for computing switching time in VAPF 一种计算VAPF切换时间的算法

A new voltage type of active power filter (VAPF) and its control algorithm are proposed to eliminate harmonic voltage contaminations in power systems. The amplitude of the compensation voltage produced by the VAPF is controlled by the working status of a switch network. From the proposed compensation algorithm, the switching on-off time can be instantaneously calculated. Therefore, the compensation is more accurate and more rapid than before. The control method is advantageous to the realization of a fully-digital control and to the use of the intelligence control. The validity of the filter and the algorithm has been verified by results of simulation testings.

This paper proposes the use of a multilayer feedforward neural network to control a multilevel inverter-based dual-frequency induction heating power supply, plus the use of distributed computing to train that network. The motivation is because the control function mappings from the desired waveform's two modulation indices to its step-angles are not simple closed-form expressions, so using look-up tables to implement the mappings accurately and comprehensively would require a significant amount of memory. The neural network was first trained using a single central processing unit, and the results were then compared to similar training using distributed computing (with multiple local area network-connected central processing units). It was found that using distributed computing reduced significantly the training time needed to achieve the desired level of accuracy.
