Turmeric-tamarind herbal drink (jamu kunyit asam) is a well-known traditional herbal drink in Indonesia. The two main ingredients of the drink are aqueous extracts of turmeric rhizome and tamarind fruit pulp. This study aimed to investigate the antioxidant activities effect of combined aqueous extracts of turmeric rhizome and tamarind fruit pulp because it has not been investigated. The aqueous extracts were mixed in various combinations. The mixtures' pH, total phenolics content, and antioxidant activity (DPPH) were measured. The mixture's pH was determined mainly by the tamarind extract dose. Nevertheless, the ratio of the extracts did not influence the total phenolic compounds. At the lower dose of tamarind extract, the antioxidative interaction of both sections was synergistic, but at the higher amount, it was additive. All mixtures' antioxidant potential (DPPH-IC50) was lower than BHT (the standard control). The antioxidative interaction is synergistic if the extracts ratio is unequal.

Using chlorophyll extract as a natural food source for Carassius auratus and adult male Wistar Hannover rats 叶绿素提取物作为鲫鱼和成年雄性威斯达汉诺威大鼠的天然食物来源

Chlorophyll is found in plants everywhere and it is a natural biological energy source. Because seaweed and spinach ( Spinacia oleracea L.) are highly concentrated with chlorophyll, this study evaluated the effect of chlorophyll extracted from seaweeds and S. oleracea as a supplementary food source for goldfish (Carassius auratus) and adult male Wistar Hannover rats. Our results showed significant body weight gain in C. auratus treated with chlorophyll extracted from seaweeds; C. auratus also showed a brighter and more vibrant color. Our study also showed that chlorophyll extracted from S. oleracea caused a significant increase in the cholesterol, TG, and HDL levels in the treated rats compared to the control group. These results indicate that chlorophyll could be a more suitable alternative for feeding C. auratus than commercial foods, and an efficacious agent to improve the rise of lipid and cholesterol levels in people with vascular conditions.

The human race is Nature's finest creation in the universe. It is a miracle and a wonder of nature that the body has the right size, weight, and shape. Every woman in society has the lifelong dream of having a child. One of the hardest elements of pregnancy is a deformed live foetus. Garbha Vriddhi and Vikas Kram are precisely described in Ayurveda, despite the absence of contemporary imaging methods like sonography and MRI. Ayurvedic texts offer a variety of perspectives on Garbha Utpatti and Garbha Vriddhi . Garbhini Lakshana , which aids in the diagnosis of early pregnancy and guards against foetal anomalies, is also referenced in Ayurveda. The growth of the foetus is impeded by an unhealthy diet and lifestyle during pregnancy, and the infant is born preterm or underweight. After giving birth, all of this causes stress and psychological disorders i.e. Manas vikaras in the mother. The present article narrates the root causes of Manas vikaras i.e. psychological disorders in sutika , post natal care to be taken during pregnancy and role of manas bhava in sutika .

Critical analysis of uses of flowers in ayurveda W.S.R. to sushruta samhita 阿育吠陀W.S.R.中花在苏舒鲁塔samhita中的应用的批判性分析

The uses of flowers in Ayurveda treatment is known as Pushpayurveda or Floral therapy, which was discovered and practiced by Jain Mahaveer in 9th Century. The purpose of this study was aimed to collect and compile the classical references for uses of flowers in Ayurvedic treatment with special reference to Sushruta Samhita. According to the findings; the flowers have been recommended as both foods and medicines, the 30 flowers as vegetables while 100 flowers as medicinal purpose including the above 30 flowers, 5 flowers as poisonous. Other uses of flowers; to explain the causes, symptoms, severity and curability of diseases and also as a water purifier. Flowers can apply in both enteral and local application routes, in any types of dosage form as well as the garlands. The 201 classical preparations; 10 in Sutrasthana, 4 in Sharirasthana, 58 in Cikitsasthana, 30 in Kalpasthana and 100 in Uttarasthana. Flowers are responsible in both physical and mental health. Hence, it can be concluded that uses of flowers as medicine is not a new aspect of Ayurveda, but re-establishment of the concept of Pushpayurveda will be a new approach and value addition to the Ayurveda. Further, Acarya Sushruta emphasizes the properties of flowers are the same as the properties of their trees. Flowers can be collected without harming to the plant. Therefore, knowledge of Pushpayurveda will be helpful in Eco-friendly practice of Ayurveda.

The exploration of plants' potential as sources of novel medications, nutritious foods, and nutraceuticals as well as a comprehension of their functions in conventional medicine and human health phytochemical screening is a fundamental step. Cheilanthes bicolor is one of the native plants in Nepal, so we need to unlock the hidden potential of this plant. The goal of this study was to assess the phytochemical analysis, antioxidant, and antibacterial of plant extracts (root and frond) in different solvent systems (methanol, 50% methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, and hexane). Phytochemicals screening revealed the presence of an array of secondary metabolites including polyphenol flavonoids, phenolics, coumarin tannins, terpenoids, glycoside, reducing sugar, etc. in both the frond and root, total phenolic, flavonoid, tannin and sugar content test indicate that all are found to higher in ethyl acetate extract than other extract except total sugar content it was found to be higher in methanol and 50% methanol extracts of frond than root extract. The IC50 values from 2, 2-diphenyl -1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay of extract indicate noteworthy antioxidant potential. Antibacterial teste demonstrated modest activity against Gram-positive bacteria and antifungal activity. Ultra-performance Liquid chromatography- electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) analysis of methanol extract allowed the identification of compounds with molecular formulas, (C28H45O9, C22H21O11, C17H13O6, C26H43O6, and C27H39N4O2). Comparison between fronds and roots it seems that frond is more effective than root. As far as we are aware, there has rare investigation of Cheilanthes bicolor. Here, many active phytoconstituents were identified during phytochemical research, which might be extracted and studied in future studies to generate strong medications and the current study adds the protective effect of Cheilanthes bicolor fronds as a powerful antioxidant and antibacterial agent.

Cheilanthes bicolor is one of the native plants in Nepal, so we need to unlock the hidden potential of this plant. The goal of this study was to assess the phytochemical analysis, antioxidant, and antibacterial of plant extracts (root and frond) in different solvent systems (methanol, 50% methanol, ethyl acetate, dichloromethane, and hexane). Phytochemicals screening revealed the presence of an array of secondary metabolites including polyphenol flavonoids, phenolics, coumarin tannins, terpenoids, glycoside, reducing sugar, etc. in both the frond and root, total phenolic, flavonoid, tannin and sugar content test indicate that all are found to higher in ethyl acetate extract than other extract except total sugar content it was found to be higher in methanol and 50% methanol extracts of frond than root extract. The IC50 values from 2, 2-diphenyl -1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging assay of extract indicate noteworthy antioxidant potential. Antibacterial teste demonstrated modest activity against Gram-positive bacteria and antifungal activity. Ultra-performance Liquid chromatography- electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS) analysis of methanol extract allowed the identification of compounds with molecular formulas, (C28H45O9, C22H21O11, C17H13O6, C26H43O6, and C27H39N4O2). Comparison between fronds and roots it seems that frond is more effective than root. As far as we are aware, there has rare investigation of Cheilanthes bicolor. A branch of Ayurveda known as agadatantra deals with the signs and symptoms of numerous latent and overt poisons. Different Ayurvedic pharmacopoeias classify the medication Langali (Gloriosa splendid Linn.) as a Moolavisha (toxic roots) and one of the nine Upavishas (half poisonous drugs). A poison can act as an ambrosia if administered in the right amounts and properly purified. Even food can be poisonous if consumed in excess. Ayurveda has used many poisons for therapeutic purposes since ancient times, but only after thorough cleansing. A plant known as Langli (Gloriosa superba) has both medicinal and toxicological characteristics. It has been suggested to use Gloriosa Superba to treat haemorrhoids, worm ulcers, skin conditions, and postponed labour.

Scientific appraisal of plant origin Emmenagogue and its therapeutics in unani medicine: A review 植物源泻泻剂的科学评价及其在乌纳尼医学中的治疗作用综述

Unani system have holistic approach to deals many gynecological disorders in a systematic manner as evident from classification of diseases available in ancient Unani literature and the number of plant drugs thereby available and have greater significance for their treatment. One of the categories of these herbs is of emmenagogue (Mudir-e-Tams) drugs. Prevalence of pathological amenorrhoea is one of the most common gynecological problem has been reported to be 3-4% worldwide. Hormonal therapy based on estrogen and progesterone is the mainstay of treatment present in contemporary system which is associated with a number of side effects. This situation produces a dire need to search a safe, alternate, effective therapy of natural origin. In Unani literature several herbs have been mentioned and practiced by ancient Unani physicians till now having Mudir-e-Haiz property viz: Abhal, Hilteet, Darchini, Tarmas, Hasha, Pudina etc, which stimulate the flow of blood towards uterus and dilate its blood vessels, liquefy blood and removes sudda (obstruction) and rectify the functional defects of the uterus. Among them many have been scientifically validate their safety and efficacy. In this appraisal an attempt is done to explore information regarding herbal emmenagogue and their therapeutic potential present in Unani literature and PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar researches.

Ficus elastica Roxb. Ex Hornem, also called Rubber fig tree is a plant of the Moraceae family widely used in traditional medicine for the treatment of various ailments including allergies and skin infections, as well as a diuretic agent. This study points out the acute and sub-acute toxicological profile of the ethanolic extract of Ficus elastica lianas. The plant material was collected, dried, ground and soaked in ethanol. After filtering, the filtrated were dried and the dried material was stored in the shade prior to analysis. The phytochemical screening was done according to Harbone methods. Acute and sub-acute toxicity tests were performed according to an amended Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines 423 and 407 respectively on Wistar rats. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols and tannins. The single oral administration of the extract did not induce an abnormal variation of the physiological and behavioural parameters in rats, at the doses of 2000 and 5000 mg/kg body weight after 14 days of observation. Also, the extract showed a good safety profile after 28 days of repeated dosing of 200, 400, and 800 mg/kg body weight. No deaths were recorded and biochemical, hematological, and physiological parameters analyses revealed a non-significant statistical difference as compared to control. In addition, histological studies indicated that all tested doses induced no damage to liver, kidney, heart or lung whether in male or female animals. Therefore, the use of the ethanolic extract of Ficus elastica lianas as herbal remedy at tested doses is not associated with any toxic effects thus, justify its traditional use.
