Simulations of forming processes using LS-DYNA and other nonlinear finite element software packages enables manufacturers to optimise processes without the attending waste associated with performing multiple actual processes. The goal of this study was to use finite element analysis to investigate microscale sheet hydroforming (MSSH) of annealed AISI 304 stainless steel for producing bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) based on the material properties of the blank that were obtained from hydraulic bulge testing. Two die geometries were used to investigate the effect of hydroforming pressure and channel width on the distribution of stress and strain across the flow field of the hydroformed channels, sheet thinning and the thickness distribution for the annealed AISI 304 sheet metal blanks. The simulation results were verified using experimental results. The results show that FEA technique accurately predicts the behaviour of the AISI 304 bank formed using MSSH.

In order to overcome the problems of large error and high failure rate existing in the fracture test method of asphalt concrete materials, the dynamic tensile fracture test of semi flexible epoxy asphalt concrete materials was proposed. This method uses digital image technology (DIC) to measure the displacement of asphalt concrete crack propagation process, accurately capture the fracture process of asphalt concrete material crack tip, and use tensile test to evaluate the low temperature cracking performance of semi flexible pavement material. The experimental results show that when the loading wavelength is increased to 900 μs, the error of the maximum tensile stress calculation value is reduced to 7.5%. There is obvious size effect on the tensile strength of concrete. The safety risk assessment model has higher security guarantee. At the same time, the required capital investment is lower, and the test failure rate is always lower than 20%.

In order to solve the problems of large error and long time-consuming in the traditional mechanical property test methods, a new mechanical property test method for highway concrete pavement construction machinery materials is proposed. The relationship between the deformation component and the displacement component of the microstructure of the concrete pavement in the equilibrium coordinate system is obtained. The limit value of the critical thickness of the construction material of the highway concrete pavement is obtained by the second derivative function. Based on the analysis principle of AFM force curve, the relationship between mechanical materials and elastic modulus of highway concrete pavement construction is determined, and the performance analysis of highway concrete pavement construction mechanical materials is realised. The test results show that the error of mechanical properties analysis of highway concrete pavement construction machinery materials by the proposed method is only 0.3%, and the test time is short.
