Efficacy of Peer Learning Communities in Developing a Model of School Health Education 同伴学习社区对学校健康教育模式的影响

Background: Peer Communities of Learners (PCLs) is considered one of the most effective strategies in Education that involves school students, teachers, parents and other community members as a targeted group of learners. Developing PCls in schools helps to develop of social communication and to exchange knowledge between targeted groups. Aim: Measuring the effect of PCLs on developing a curriculum based model of school health Education was the research objective. Method: 15 subjects in Kasr Aldoubara School in Cairo were involved in the PCL group of learners. They represent all language teachers in the school (N=9) and school administrative staff members (N=6). Study subjects were trained through 6 Successive training sessions aimed at: (1) Adding skills related to PCLs development among school teachers, (2) Curriculum based on health education modules and (3) Language Curriculum as a tool in development of School Health Education. Tools were developed by researches. They include: (1) School PCLs Checklist, (2) School Health Education Checklist. Validity and reliability of the tools were confirmed before their use in the final form. Results: Wilcoxon test revealed significant development of PCLs based language teacher skills as rated by School PCLs Checklist and School Health Education Checklist at the level of (0.01) and (0.01) respectively. 12 Lesson were selected to be a part of adding health education messages. They were selected by language teachers as a part of PCLs sessions. They involved messages related to physical, mental and social health directed to primary and preparatory students that can be introduced through ordinary language curriculum (Arabic, English, German and French languages). School administrative staff members demonstrated 6 case studies of Health Education Messages related to physical, mental and social health that are directed to students, teachers and parents.

Methods for Developing Well being in Learning Mathematics 培养数学学习幸福感的方法

The concern for pedagogy and the well-being of pupils which could amplify in a positive sense their school results entitles us to analyze during the scientific activity carried out in education sciences, under theoretical, methodological and empirical point of view, relevant activities related to the happiness in learning, with predilection in learning of mathematics. By using the experience of schools from the European Union and from worldwide, we will analyze the need to guide schools on the well-being of pupils during the educational activity. The happiness of the pupils, the decrease in their anxiety, must not decrease their level of training. If pupils shall imagine themselves over 10-15 years as future graduates, what future would they have if they did not learn mathematics, where might they be found in social life, what level would they have from an economic, intellectual point of view ? Mathematics develops formal operations that lead to the construction of thought, can stimulate pupils' affective life, and can motivate them to integrate into the adult society. There is supported the re-establishment of society on values, the development of a culture of success based on performance, work, talent, honesty and integrity. The implementation of these two guidelines, the first of a value-based society and the second of a happy environment among pupils, teachers and parents, generates the need to improve the educational strategies and to improve teachers' practices for harnessing the personal potential of pupils, providing quality in education.

Multimodal and Multisensory Approach to Teaching and Learning Vocabulary 多模态、多感官的词汇教学方法

The paper explores the impact of the use of a dialogical and multimodal approach to teaching and learning vocabulary on young learners. It draws on a classroom research project that investigated the use of the dialogical inquiry approach informed by the philosophy for children. It also calls on a multimodal and multisensory approach that makes use of haptic technological interfaces that allow for the learning experiences to go beyond the use of audio-visual senses. The aims of the project were twofold: to develop and implement a dialogical approach to teach vocabulary and, more specifically, the semantic relationship between words; and to examine the impact of using a multimodal and multisensory approach with the use of digital technologies on the learning process of young learners. The presentation will focus on the later aim and, more specifically, on the possible impact of the adoption of a multimodal and multisensory approach on the vocabulary learning process and how it might influence the learners’ experiences and behaviors. It will conclude with a discussion about the need to understand that the use of multimodality and multisensory as an approach to enhancing the teaching and learning of vocabulary is complex, and that it needs to be understood in terms of an ecosystem where all elements of the system are interrelated. It is the interplay between the different multimodalities and the multisensory affordances offered by the emergent haptic technologies that contribute in enhancing the learner’s learning process and, in turn, the acquisition of vocabulary knowledge.

WHAT IS PROPORTIONAL REASONING? 什么是比例推理?

Almost all mathematics educators consider proportional reasoning as one of the most important components of middle school mathematics curriculum. It is a necessity for success not only in further mathematics topics but also in other areas of knowledge. Although its importance is commonly accepted, there is not a consensus on what proportional reasoning is. This study is based on two inspirers; the first one is the need for a crystal clear definition of proportional reasoning and the second one is the necessity for using the same terms by referring the same phenomena in order to make progress in a research area. The aim of this content analysis is to investigate proportional reasoning research articles published in five prominent mathematics education journals between the years 2007-2016. These articles were investigated in two respects; whether a definition of proportional reasoning is given or not and how proportional reasoning is defined. The results indicated that in some research articles no definition of proportional reasoning was given, some of them mentioned about only the importance of it, and others defined it as a skill, knowledge of rate and ratio, or a kind of reasoning.

A TEACHING FOCUSSED ACADEMIC: PIONEER OR PATSY? 以教学为中心的学者:先锋还是替罪羊?

The University of New South Wales has earmarked the building of educational excellence in the university community as a priority in its 2025 strategy. (https://www.2025.unsw.edu.au/). The 2025 Strategy recognises that, in the current climate of intense competition to attract students, providing ‘educational excellence’ as the foundational student experience needed to be prioritized. UNSW plans to have approximately 25% of staff in EF roles and the first cohort or 157 academics has been functioning in this capacity for approximately 18 months. Enormous has been expended in creating these positions from within the existing framework of a traditional, research intensive, academic environment. The EF role is not the creation of UNSW, but specific features of this role, that may have been problematic for other institutions, have been specifically addressed: namely promotion, workload and potential reversion to teaching/research roles. A survey was framed using the FAQs that emerged following early discussions of EF roles within the academic community. The original cohort was asked it if their overall experience matched their expectations as per the FAQs. Preliminary results indicate that, while 100% of respondents who had applied for promotion were successful and 100% do not regret their decision to become an EF academic, there remain concerns about increased workload, unclear/unfair performance metrics and the ability to revert to a teaching/research position if desired.

The Role of Advance Technologies in Motivated Learning: Case Study of Saudi Learners in Universities 先进技术在主动学习中的作用:沙特大学生个案研究

The goal of information technology is to create an environment where every learner will have a series of resources and teachers in different discipline expertise and in different locations, with a teacher/mentor to help the student to pursue some areas in depth. This is currently too expensive. Technology can facilitate motivation during the learning process. Though it is not advocated replacing the human teachers with the technology but future technology must live in a symbiotic relationship amongst teachers, students, parents and society at large. Learning vision 2020 focuses on creating learning environments that facilitate communication and collaboration. Technology networks kids together in groups to learn and practice their combined skills. This work critically reviews the traditional Teacher Directed Learning with Modern Technology aided Teacher Directed Learning. An experimental design was followed with two sections: Control group and treatment group. Treatment group was provided with technology aid. At the end of semester, tests showed that treatment group students outperformed students of control group.

Nursing Education in the Wind of Changes: Estonian Experience 变革之风中的护理教育:爱沙尼亚的经验

. The purpose of the research is to analyse the development of professional nursing and nurses’ training in Estonia in the context of social, ethnic-cultural and political changes. The research shows how this knowledge contributes to the future of nursing profession. The analysis of historical documents was conducted between 2015 and 2018. The development of nursing in Western Europe, Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic States gives the contextual background in which Estonian nursing started and progressed. The data used in the study are based on summarising and analysing relevant studies, which have been conducted in several European countries. There are four distinct periods in the development of Estonian nursing. The main emphasis of the article is on the last period of development (since 1991), when Estonian nursing became a professional field of study and practice. Curricula have changed, internationalisation has taken place, modern learning methods (NANDA-I, simulation, etc.) have been introduced. Migration of nurses has been a problem in recent years. The reform of higher education and internationalisation has also brought about changes.

Using Structural Equation Modelling to study the influence of perceived usefulness and perceived compatibility on students’ attitudes towards using IPAD 运用结构方程模型研究感知有用性和感知兼容性对学生IPAD使用态度的影响

In this research an attempt has been made to test the integration of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), user satisfaction, and perceived compatibility in the educational field. It particularly uses Structural Equation Modelling with various constructs to investigate students’ acceptance of using IPAD as a technological tool in undergraduate math classes in a Middle Eastern University. The result agrees with the theoretical model, it shows the influence of user satisfaction, perceived usefulness and perceived compatibility on students’ attitudes towards using IPAD. Finding of this research along with the ongoing research should encourage educators to put more emphasis on using technology in the learning process of mathematics.
