Enseñar idiomas extranjeros es un desafío para los profesores, pero para los adultos es aún más desafiante, ya que los adultos suelen tomar una decisión independiente e informada sobre el idioma extranjero específico que quieren aprender y tienen un alto nivel de motivación para lograrlo. Esto se debe a varios aspectos, pero la mayoría se debe a la necesidad oa las consecuencias de la vida laboral. Si bien el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras es obligatorio para los niños en edad escolar, los adultos lo hacen de forma voluntaria, lo que impone más exigencias a su enseñanza y métodos de enseñanza que a los jóvenes. Cada estudiante desarrolla su propio estilo de aprendizaje, a partir de las experiencias educativas previas adquiridas en niveles educativos anteriores, el contexto social y cultural de la familia en la que vivió, los modelos que ha adoptado de sus pares y su aplicación en las instituciones. El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar qué es la andragogía, cuáles son los aspectos técnicos del aprendizaje de adultos, así como la motivación para el aprendizaje de adultos y el método de enseñanza de una lengua extranjera a adultos.

Im Beitrag steht die Konstituierung von Emotionen als kommunikativen Praktiken in medialen Diskursen im Fokus des Interesses. Es wird dabei auf ausgewählte Aspekte diskurslinguistischer Emotionsforschung Bezug genommen. Vor dem Hintergrund der Rolle der Medien in der Kodierung von Emotionen wird der Frage der Emotionalisierung von diskursiven Ereignissen nachgegangen. Emotionen werden als diskursive Praktiken auf der intratextuellen und der transtextuellen Ebene der Diskursanalyse untersucht. Am Beispiel der „Nord Stream”-Debatte wird gezeigt, wie Prozesse der Kodierung und der Generierung von Emotionen in der jeweiligen Dimension erfasst und analysiert werden können.

The article deals with the specifics of the verbal implementation of prohibitions and restrictions in quarantine-epidemiological texts. The object is the category of prohibition, the subject is the specifics of the verbalization of this category, namely the structural and semantic content, pragmatic and discursive features of the functioning of the verbal representatives of the semantics of the prohibition. The actual material for this paper is the texts of informational messages in the Ukrainian language, which refer to the prohibition on visiting public places without protective masks. Lexical, syntactic, graphic means of textual organization of prohibition announcements were studied. Special attention is paid to the categories of addressant and addressee, methods of explication of these discursive elements, specific creolization of the studied advertisement texts.

This paper presents an analysis of the various aspects of freedom pictured by John Fowles in his novels The Collector and The Magus. The analysis consists of elements related to freedom in terms of social conventions, morality, sexuality, and free will. The methodology of the work is based on theories of postmodernism with an emphasis on existentialism and magical realism. The issue of freedom is a very extensive and up-to-date concept in the contemporary world, full of situations related to the violation of human rights, which is why this work is an interesting dialogue relating to this topic, so important for the humanity.

The paper deals with offensive language gleaned from Twitter, encoded by (abusive) insults and verbal reactions to them. The study aims to analyse how they are constructed in terms of (i) the cognitive strategies employed by the insultees, (ii) rhetorical figures and (iii) linguistic devices used by both the insulters and insultees. The tweets are illustrative of the following shifts occurring in responses relative to insults: register clash, changing explicit insult into implicit, figure/ground reversal, syntactic echoing, changing abusive language into jocular or into an ironic insult, etc. The cognitive strategies employed by the insultees comprise: ignoring the insulting content, agreeing with the insult, and attacking the insulter with an explicit or implicit insult.

This paper investigates neologisms in data retrieved from stand-up comedies. It postulates social media interaction as a main source of new words, and analyses coined words as specific wordforms in the stand-up comedy routines that mirror current society events. Preconditions, formation of coined words in the stand-up comedy discourse, and their perception by non-native speakers are considered. The article touches the derivational potential of new coinages, discusses the most productive word-building techniques, and describes respondents’ reactions to coinages in order to understand whether they can adequately interpret the words’ meanings. Obtained results demonstrate the relevance of digitally coined words in modern English. They prove the hypothesis that satirical work across the world has a strong impact on our society and the language we use. Potential future research in the field of social mass media neology on the basis of other non-related languages is suggested.

Artykuł poświęcony jest aspektom tłumaczenia tekstów kancelaryjnych w formie rękopisów i tekstów odczytanych z okresu wczesno-nowo-wysoko-niemieckiego. Celem rozważań jest pokazanie metod przekładu tych tekstów na współczesny język polski. Proponowana droga do takiego przekładu składa się z trzech etapów: odczytanie starego rękopisu, przekład tekstu na nowożytny język niemiecki, przekład na współczesny język polski. Ewentualne pominięcie etapu przekładu na współczesny język niemiecki nie jest to wskazane ze względu na fakt, iż wówczas badacze niemieccy bez znajomości języka wczesno-nowo-wysoko-niemieckiego utraciliby dostęp do treści danego tekstu. Prezentowane badania oparte są na tekstach kancelarii Zakonu Krzyżackiego i niemieckojęzycznych kancelarii będących kontynuacją tej kancelarii (np. teksty powstałe w miastach obszaru Prus Królewskich po II pokoju toruńskim).

L'articolo offre la sintesi di una ricerca contrastiva sui verbi d’azione italiani e polacchi. Alle analisi proposte fa da cornice teorico-interpretativa una proposta di tipologia delle lingue secondo la quale in base ad alcune differenze di distribuzione lessicale osservate nelle lingue romanze e germaniche, in particolare in italiano e in danese, le lingue possono essere descritte come più o meno endocentriche oppure più o meno esocentriche. In seguito a un esame condotto sia secondo metodologie competence based che quelle corpus based, l’italiano risulta essere una lingue esocentrica, mentre il polacco propende verso testualizzazioni più piatte dal punto di vista della distribuzione dell’informazione sematica nell’enunciato.

The paper presents an analysis of Obama’s and Trump’s inaugural addresses with a view to evidencing how language can be manipulated and also reveal the speaker’s political and ideological stance through the use of marked and evaluative lexical items. The language sample selected for analysis contains personal pronouns and possessive adjectives ‘you, your, we, us, our, ours, ourselves, they, their, them, themselves’, determiner ‘other’ and the term ‘America’ with all its derivative forms as used in the two speeches.
