This article presents some considerations about the need to adapt the school curriculum, as well as the pedagogical practices used to meet the expectations of contemporary society, where it is thought of an inclusive and emancipatory education, concerned with cultural diversities. It will also be presented a successful project that was developed and applied by Professor Barbara da Silva Borges, where it succeeded in making the teaching of mathematics concrete and enjoyable, while at the same time redeeming various aspects of the local culture.

El trabajo describe la sordez, la identidad y el alcance de la literatura sobre identidad sorda y los diferentes tipos encontrados en busca de la ciudadania. Su objetivo es identificar en la literatura los aspectos de la existencia y construccion de la identidad sorda a partir de los diferentes conceptos reportados. Comoprincipales referencias Skliar (1999, 2010), Perlin (2010) que proponen la sistematizacion de las identidades sordas, y Costa (2010), que reune las posiciones de los sujetos sordos en un determinado contexto historico, alcanzando las influencias sociales de la escuela y lenguaje para la formacion de la identidad sorda, que noes algo cerrado, sino que esta en construccion y en movimiento. Para la inclusion, el respeto por la sordez y la identidad sorda es una forma de ciudadania.
