_______________________________________________________________________________________ Abstract An intrusion detection system (IDS) plays an important role in securing our computer networks. There are many techniques designed to help in detecting and preventing such attacks. Intrusion detection system (IDS) is used to observe unwanted action on network systems and individual computers. However due to the opposite effect of using IDS, using individual methods of IDS only misuse or anomaly attacks can be detected. This paper proposed a model that integrates both approaches signature and anomaly based on IDS to reduce obtained alerts and detects new attacks. False alert rate, area under ROC curve, accuracy, recall, F-score, and P-test are the parameters used to evaluate the effectiveness of hybrid IDS. This paper also considers KDD Cup 1999 information set keeping in mind the end goal to show the profits of the proposed intrusion detection system described in the KDD Cup record previously.

In developing counties, biomass is a major source of residential energy. In the past, biomass in its unprocessed form was used for cooking and heating. Commercial purpose has been limited due to low heating value of biomass. Many attempts, regarding improvement of energy density have been made in recent times for biomass technology. Due to which process such as pyrolysis are invented for achieving increased efficiency and calorific value of unprocessed biomass by removing water content and volatile organic compounds from unprocessed raw biofuel. Torrefaction is a biomass energy densification process where unprocessed biomass is heated (200 o C – 300 o C) removing water content and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from them and making them denser in energy. Torrefaction is a relatively new subject where many researches have been done to examine its potential in biofuel energy densification and biofuel development. This paper presents a work of unprocessed biomass torrefaction process performed on Institute of Engineering Biomass Laboratory. The goal of the research was to study effect of residence time and temperature on torrefaction process along with its mass yield (ratio of torrefied mass to initial mass) on dry and ash free basis. For the process, mixed sawdust was used as biomass which was subjected to temperatures 210°C, 240°C and 270°C at 15, 30 and 45 minutes residence times, in inert atmosphere of nitrogen to produce torrefied biomass. Results from the research showed calorific value increase with increasing both temperature and residence time, effect of temperature being more prominent. Highest calorific value was found to be 5454 cal/g at 270 0 C and 15 minutes residence time. The biofuel thus obtained can be further briquetted to increase energy density.

With the advancements in high volume, low precision computational technology and applied research on cognitive artificially intelligent heuristic systems, machine learning solutions through neural networks with real-time learning has seen an immense interest in the research community as well the industry. This paper involves research, development and experimental analysis of a neural network implemented on a robot with an arm through which evolves to learn to walk in a straight line or as required. The neural network learns using the algorithms of Gradient Descent and Backpropagation. Both the implementation and training of the neural network is done locally on the robot on a raspberry pi 3 so that its learning process is completely independent. The neural network is first tested on a custom simulator developed on MATLAB and then implemented on the raspberry computer. Data at each generation of the evolving network is stored, and analysis both mathematical and graphical is done on the data. Impact of factors like the learning rate and error tolerance on the learning process and final output is analyzed.

Fairing is one of the design requirements of industrial products. The Fairing of curves and surfaces has important influence on product quality and physical properties. In recent years, wavelet based curve and surface fairing methods have received extensive attention in academic circles. Wavelet analysis is a widely used mathematical analysis tool based on the theory of signal analysis and processing. This method mainly utilizes the multi-resolution characteristic of wavelet, and the wavelet smoothing of curves and surfaces can be regarded as filtering the curves, removing the high frequency and retaining the low frequency. So as to achieve the smoothing effect of curves and surfaces. In this paper, we mainly discuss the multiresolution wavelet smoothing problem of free curve.

Cloud Computing refers to the idea of using computing power as a utility. It is implemented by a connected network of remote servers, accessed via the internet, for processing, storing and managing data. The cloud computing model allows for pay-by-use and thus avoids usage of personal computers or local servers. Cloud Computing is an emerging technology, gradually gaining prominence in academia as well as commercial enterprises. Storing and micromanaging data is an integral part of any application. Using cloud storage provides various benefits over traditional storage- enabling the user to remotely access/store their data anywhere and from any device, on-demand scalability of applications based on usage. In case of disasters, cloud storage can help in very quick recovery of data. Bandwidth usage can also be reduced, by sharing access-links instead of the complete files. Understanding the importance of storage mechanism and realizing that in a properly developed architecture can improve the efficiency of application by leaps and bounds. Many different types of storage architectures have been developed over time. Various commercial organizations have also come up with tailor-made storage mechanisms, suiting their specific requirements. Selecting amongst the many available storage architectures is a very complex task as well as a very important one. The storage mechanism plays a huge role in determining its overall performance. This work aims to assist the reader in proper selection of architecture based on the types of operation the user of the architecture intends to have in his/her application.

Noiseless aerodynamics of a rotor blade is a vital research objective towards environmentally friendly wind turbine technology and military advancement of helicopter blades. Blade planform of a wind turbine determines the limiting streamline that responsible for the aerodynamic characteristics. This paper focused on the aerodynamic flow visualization showing the flow pattern around forward swept horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) for different radius and different wind velocities. The experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel. Tuft patterns were used for flow visualization, and rope brake dynamometer was employed for measuring the performances in different wind speeds. It is found that the planforms can form 3-D folds streamline that show the detailed mechanism of rolling-up effect, and give different performances in the cases of different radius and wind speeds.
