A new concept of UHF RFID tag for metallic object tracking with embedded cavity 一种用于嵌入腔体金属物体跟踪的超高频RFID标签的新概念

This paper presents a new solution for labeling metallic items like boxes and cavities. The proposed tag is based on the use of electromagnetic properties of cavities and the passive loop AKTAG RFID tag. Moreover the design avoids the physical connection between the RFID chip and the antenna. Simulation and measurement results are in good agreement. The feasibility of performing hidden tag using existing metallic cavity embedded in the object structure is demonstrated. When the tag is inside the cavity, a read-range of 5.5 m was measured in anechoic chamber, and a read-range of 7.7 m is reached when the loop tag is directly coupled to the slot.

Optimized recovery of collided chipless RFID signals using Fractional Fourier Transform 利用分数阶傅里叶变换优化碰撞无芯片RFID信号的恢复

Chipless RFID systems appears as an alternative to reduce the costs of RFID systems by using tags without a chip. The design of these new systems impose some challenges as the design of a tag, processing the signal reflected by the tag, among others. In this paper we consider the problem of collisions in the signal reflected simultaneously by various tags, and the recovery of information in these collided signals. The problem is treated by processing the signals received by the reader using the Fractional Fourier Transform - FrFT and the binary information is recovered using the minimum distance detection concepts. Presented simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

An UHF RFID performance evaluation architecture based on traces from a software defined transceiver 基于软件定义收发器跟踪的超高频RFID性能评估体系结构

Software Defined Radio (SDR) based approaches are frequently used to study the performance of EPC Global Class 1 Generation 2 compliant ultra-high frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) systems and their enhancements. To perform credible evaluations, either an anechoic chamber or parallel processing of different reader software at the SDR level are used. Both approaches are challenging as an anechoic chamber does not reflect environmental influences and parallel processing at SDR level lacks reproducibility. In this paper, we present a trace based evaluation architecture. We measure traces in real world scenarios using a software defined RFID transceiver. Based on these traces credible and reproducible evaluations can be performed. We show the value of our architecture by evaluating different clock recoveries approaches.

AnonEPC - making the querying user anonymous in EPCglobal network 匿名epc -使查询用户在epc全球网络中匿名

The EPCglobal network is a major step towards automating supply chain by providing each product with an RFID tag and a unique EPC number. In an EPCglobal Network, it is important to make the querying users anonymous in order to prevent others in the supply chain from knowing that they are querying for a particular EPC number. This type of behavior is motivated by competitive strategies and the sensitive nature of the information being shared through the EPCglobal Network. In this paper, we suggest a design which enables the querying users to remain anonymous by using security tokens to authenticate themselves while keeping their identities hidden. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work which deals with the user anonymity in the case of EPCglobal network. We propose an enhanced EPCglobal Network which consists of a secure EPCDS, a secure EPCIS and a mechanism by which the user can remain anonymous without compromising the security of the data and at the same time conforming to the access control policies published by each of the EPCISes. Our analysis shows that our solution is more practical in comparison to the original EPCglobal network design and the SecDS model that we are extending.

Chipless identification applied to human body 应用于人体的无芯片识别

We report in this paper the study of the identification of persons using a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) chipless tag. Obtained results show that a robust identification is possible due to the capability of the tag to generate a cross polarization that is used for the identification. Simulations and measurements of a chipless tag placed on a body have been made. By this way, the tag could be easily designed to be an integral part of a clothing.

Calibration method for periodic surface based chipless tags 周期性表面无芯片标签的校准方法

The aim of this paper is to introduce a novel calibration method for chipless tags. The proposed tag is based on a periodic impedance surface with an asymmetric unit cell geometry. The method relies on a differential encoding of amplitude or phase of the reflected signal. The unit cell of the tag comprises several concentric loops of rectangular shape which exhibits a different response when interrogated along two orthogonal planes of incidence. The novel calibration procedure is also preliminary verified experimentally for a simple single bit tag configuration. This work opens the way to a more practical implementation of chipless tags reading.

De facto RFID reader design architectures typically involve the fusion of a proprietary SoC (solution on chip) with a low cost microcontroller. The SoC market offerings generally provide an RFID front end that is capable of generating the RFID modulated carrier signals as well as a receiver that is capable of decoding the received load modulated carrier and framing it within the structures defined within the ISO standards (ISO 15693, ISO14443, etc.) Given resource limitations on support microcontrollers, bootloader designs need to possess a very small memory footprint and at the same time need to ensure that application firmware is secure. This paper analyzes the suitability of open encryption algorithms and proposes alternatives that may be designed with very small memory footprints.

Dynamic impedance matching network for RF energy harvesting systems 射频能量收集系统的动态阻抗匹配网络

In this paper, an RF energy harvesting system with an improved dynamic impedance matching network (DyIMN) is proposed. With this solution, the minimum RF input power required for circuit operation is -10 dBm, allowing a working distance of 1.5 m from an RF energy source of 30dBm. The system was fabricated on an FR4 substrate using off-the-shelf discrete components and it is able to convert RF energy to regulated DC voltage in order to power general-purpose electronic devices. The experimental results demonstrate the capability of the system to obtain an optimum impedance matching with a received RF power in the range -10 - +5dBm.

This paper describes the design and the optimization of a quarter-wave patch antenna with a Thermo-Electric Generator (TEG). The antenna operates in the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) frequency band 2.4-2.5 GHz. The TEG, mounted on the top of the antenna, is used to perform thermal Energy Harvesting (EH) in order to supply wireless nodes. This antenna topology is chosen in order to provide a good thermal transfer between the TEG and the ground plane of the antenna. The antenna design consists of the optimization of its radiation properties in presence of the TEG electromagnetic model. Finally, a prototype of the antenna was fabricated and the TEG was mounted on its top. The measurements show a reflection coefficient lower -10 dB in the overall frequency band and a gain of 2.3 dB at 2.45 GHz.

This paper reviews different kinds of passive wireless sensors utilizing the intermodulation communication principle. The reviewed sensor architectures are based either on a mechanical resonator, electrically non-linear sensing element, or on a separate mixer, low-frequency resonance circuit and a sensing element. The benefits and drawbacks of different architectures are compared and some experimental measurement results are presented.
