Microstructure and mechanical characteristics of aluminum bronze fabricated using electron beam additive manufacturing (EBAM) under adjusting the heat input as a function of the sample’s height have been investigated. It was shown that such an adjustment of the heat input had effect on the dendrite grain size and morphology as well as mechanical characteristics. Columnar high aspect ratio grains were formed during deposition at maximum heat input values. The columnar grain width in section parallel to the deposition direction was increasing in EBAM conducted at lower heat input. Tensile static testing showed that the tensile strength values were improving from 435 to 483 MPa in the process. Some moderate degree of anisotropy has been revealed between samples oriented by their tensile axes parallel and perpendicular to the deposition direction. Samples with tensile axes parallel to the deposition direction showed higher tensile strength and less plasticity as compared to those of samples with perpendicular orientations of their tensile axes. In addition, the heat input adjustment had no effect on the mean width of columnar grains measured in a section perpendicular to the deposition direction.

The paper studies the evolution of the structure, phase composition, and impact toughness of the Ti-6Al-3Mo titanium alloy after two types of processing, one of them is included heating and hot helical rolling with quenching in water (mode I). The additional air quenching is used between the rolling and quenching processes in mode II. This approach with combining two cooling stages (in air and in water) of the alloy makes possible to control the recrystallization time and form a gradient structure over the cross-section of the bar stock. The processing of titanium alloy according to mode I lead to decrease of impact strength. The addition of air-cooling stage (in mode II) leads to insignificant decrease hardness and increase toughness of alloy. The treatment by mode I and II of the titanium alloy lead to formation of the structure which contain large grains of the primary α-phase in thin-plate structure of the secondary α-phase in the β-phase. It is shown that the obtained structure states of alloy affect to crack propagation under impact loading and changing the amount of energy which spent to the complete destruction of the samples.

We propose a double cascade scheme for reducing the concentration of232, 234, 236U isotopes in regenerated uranium hexafluoride. In the product of the first ordinary cascade the greatest decrease in the236U /235U mass ratio with enrichment in235U to a concentration of less than 20% is provided. To ensure the required concentrations, a special mode of operation of the stages. In the second ordinary cascade, which is fed by the product of the first, enrichment in isotopes232,234U is performed. The waste flow, purified from232, 234U, is diluted to a concentration of235U less than 5%. A method for calculating the parameters of cascades with stage separation factors corresponding to gas centrifuges is presented. A computational experiment was carried out on its basis. It was shown that the product obtained after dilution with respect to isotopes232, 234U meets the requirements of the ASTM C996-20 specification for the low-enriched commercial grade of uranium hexafluoride. The content of236U in it is several times lower than in the case of direct enrichment of regenerated uranium hexafluoride.

The development of a method to improve performance properties of various materials, based on the synergy of high-intensity ion implantation and simultaneous energy impact on the surface, is aimed at creating deep ion-doped layers. Repetitively-pulsed high-power density beams of metal and gas ions with submillisecond duration are required to implement this method. This article presents the results of experimental studies on the forming pulsed high-intensity titanium ion beams from vacuum arc plasma. The effect on focusing and transport efficiency of the cell sizes of the grid focusing electrode in the form of a part of a sphere has been studied. The possibility of ballistic focusing of a titanium ion beam with a pulse duration from 150 to 500 μs with a power density of up to 100 kW/cm2 has been experimentally shown.

The results of investigation of low-pressure glow discharge with the hollow cathode and large-volume hollow anode in argon and nitrogen are presented. Data on plasma density and electron temperature are obtained. Model, which describes the mechanisms of plasma sustaining in hollow anode, is proposed. Model takes into account non-uniformity of plasma density distribution in the anode cavity. The estimations of the plasma parameters were done. Model agrees well with the experimental data.

Based on a brief analysis of scientific data on streamer discharges, it is proposed to classify streamer discharges into free and guided ones. Guided streamers (linear and branched) have been obtained in air at pressures from 30 to 150 Torr. The speed and structure of the glow of ionization waves at the start, during deceleration and at the branch point are determined by the method of high-speed shooting. It was found that the glow of a ionization wave consists of two parts - the main wave and its precursor. The emission of the precursor wave is much less intense than that of the main wave, and contains predominantly the 2+ band of N2, as well as the 1- band of N2+. This, and also the fact that the experiments were carried out at low air pressures, explains why this glow was not observed earlier. They can subsequently be used to build test theoretical models of the phenomenon.

In this study, the bound state's solution of the modified Schrödinger equation is found for the new supposed combined Hultén potential and the Yukawa class potentials. Analytical expressions for the energy eigenvalue and the corresponding radial wave functions are obtained for any orbital quantum number. Obtained eigenfunctions are expressed in terms of hypergeometric functions. To overcome the potential's centrifugal part difficulties, we applied the developed approximation scheme for studying bound states. It is shown that energy levels and eigenfunctions are susceptible, depending on potential parameters. Finally, we investigate also the eigenvalue of the energy and the corresponding radial wave function under some exceptional cases.

Within the framework of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, the process of the production of a pair of charginos in polarized muon-antimuon collisions is considered. Taking into account arbitrary polarizations of the pair, as well as the longitudinal or transverse polarization of the chargino, general expressions for the cross sections of the process are obtained. The longitudinal and transverse spin asymmetries caused by the polarizations of the pair, as well as the degrees of transverse and longitudinal polarization of the chargino, are determined. The angular and energy dependences of the polarization characteristics and the effective cross section are studied in detail.

The paper presents the results of mechanical tests of promising magnesium alloys for medical use of ternary alloying systems Mg-Zn-Ca and Mg-Zn-Y. The temperature and strain rate sensitivity features of the loading curves are discussed, in particular, the simultaneous significant increase in plasticity and a decrease in the interval of stable plastic flow with increasing temperature. The experimentally obtained value of the activation energy of the dislocation annihilation will make it possible to predict the true plastic deformation corresponding to the point of loss of plastic flow stability at various temperatures. The prospects for the possible use of the obtained results in technological processes for the manufacture and operation of medical devices are discussed.
