Electrical Efficiency Control applied to the Comfort of a Smart Home using Graph theory 利用图论实现智能家居舒适度的电效率控制

This article studied the planning and deployment of a wireless sensor network (WSN) within a smart home under a heterogeneous communication infrastructure (HCI). This will allow us to capture information (temperature, relative humidity, etc.) in real time of the area in which the sensor will be located. Moreover, it will allow taking integral proportional control actions to guarantee efficient use of the energy resource. Once data is available, it will be sent to an access point (AP) that collects information from at least one wireless sensor (SI) to redirect it to a management and control center (MCC). This is intended to provide assisted living within a smart home, maximizing user comfort. RSI are directly related to deployment, topology, and energy consumption. The hardware and software will be implemented using graph theory.

Multiperspective Quality Model for Process Design 过程设计的多视角质量模型

Organizational processes are constantly evolving due to different factors. To take care of this continuous transformation, these processes must be flexible enough, which implies their formalization and optimal design. To operate efficiently, the organizations must identify and manage all their processes, therefore it is important to ensure their quality. There are companies in Ecuador devoted to providing consulting services for management of processes; to that end they use methodologies, techniques, and good practices, in order to provide optimal services to meet the expectations of their customers. However, this not always occurs.The objective of this work is to present a proposal of a model to guide the quality in the design of processes, which allows expert companies to perform a design following good practices and to evaluate the quality from syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic perspectives.

Empirical Strategies in Software Engineering Research: A Literature Survey 软件工程研究中的实证策略:文献综述

Context: The Software Engineering (SE) research continues to gain strength and interest for researchers considering the need to apply rigor and scientific validity to research results. Objective: Establishing an overview of the topic through a classification scheme of publications and structure the field of interest. Method: We conducted a Systematic Mapping Study, including articles published until 2019, that report at least one study of empirical strategies in SE. Results: 80 initial sets of studies were selected and analyzed, identifying: i) empirical strategy type used and ii) Software Engineering hypotheses types used. Also, 20 papers of the set of studies for mapping were selected and analyzed, identifying 17 empirical strategies and 11 main characteristics to address the empirical research inception in SE. Conclusions: We corroborate that the selection of an empirical strategy in Software Engineering research depends on the nature and scope of the research and on the resources that the researcher has at that moment, in addition to the degree of scientific and methodological knowledge that he has to carry out an empirical study. It is necessary to continue studying in-depth the behavior and nature of the empirical strategies in Software Engineering research that allows strengthening the scientific taxonomy in SE, besides walking towards the automation of the experimental process.

A First Spotlight: Introducing Educational Robotics in the Ecuadorian Public School 第一次聚焦:在厄瓜多尔公立学校引入教育机器人

Both teachers and researchers have brought their attention to Educational Robotics during the last years. This beneficial ICT tool is increasingly used in basic education, making the action of "operate robots" a natural part of the learning experience. Unfortunately, Educational Robotics (ER) has not been explored deeply in Ecuadorian public schools. This article shows a case study where, through a training program in ER, tools such as LEGO® Robotics and WeDo 2.0 are introduced to teachers of the Ministry of Education of Ecuador (online workshop). Mainly, our research reveals 1) the method for the implementation of a 5-module virtual workshop; and 2) an experimental study which validates that there are significant changes in the teachers’ knowledge regarding ER after participating in the workshop. Finally, the shortcomings of the ER use, lessons learned and main key points are underlined.

Black Widow Crawler for TOR network to search for criminal patterns 黑寡妇爬行器为TOR网络搜索犯罪模式

This work aims to develop the Black Widow crawler focused on the Tor network, which searches, analyzes, and indexes websites containing criminal patterns. Also, a comparison of the results of the Black Widow crawler with one of the best crawlers found during information gathering is carried out, to confirm the possibility of an improvement in the current crawlers of the Tor network. The experiments demonstrate that the current crawlers can be improved. Compared to the current crawler, the Black Widow crawler achieved a 240% improvement in the number of indexed secret services.

“Spanish Políglota”: an automatic Speech Recognition system based on HMM “西班牙语Políglota”:基于HMM的自动语音识别系统

The goal of this ASR system is to be able to recognize audio queries that request static translation of a given Spanish word into a specified language. We call this ASR system as the Spanish Políglota. The pronunciation dictionary for the language model is obtained by applying grapheme to phoneme conversion. It was developed via Festival Speech Synthesis Scheme scripts and the SPPAS Spanish lexicon. The possible audio queries are restricted by a BNF grammar we designed for this project. A triphone acoustic model was generated from a set of 1621 words audio recordings. This acoustic model is based on a N-gram model that estimates its probabilities based on the maximum likelihood estimation MLE. We evaluated the prediction of individual words, as well as of synthetic phrases. We generated 1577 synthetic phrases concatenating the words of our audio set. The performance was also measured over a new set of audio recordings from a different speaker. Evaluation of isolated word recognition achieved 77.91% of correct predictions. Nevertheless, the performance dropped when evaluating the synthetic phrases as well as the second speaker’s speech. We consider it is an initial step towards the development of a fully functional automatic speech recognition system.

Monoliths to microservices - Migration Problems and Challenges: A SMS 单体到微服务——迁移问题和挑战:一个SMS

There are currently many applications that companies have accumulated over the years to leverage the operation of their businesses, however, over the years these applications have fallen into obsolescence. Most of these applications have been built following a monolith architectural style. With today’s great technological advances and for companies to remain competitive, many of these applications need to be migrated and/or modernized to take advantage of current technologies. The process of migrating from a monolithic application to a microservice is a challenging process and there are few reported successful experiences. The objective of this paper is to contribute to the findings of problems and challenges reported in scientific literature, that companies have faced when migrating a monolithic application to a microservices architecture.

A Case Study: Developing reusable Learning Objects 案例研究:开发可重用的学习对象

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) offer the possibility of creating a massive resource and knowledge base in the educational field. Learning Objects (LOs) are digital instructional elements that help users’ complete tasks. This diversity has made it difficult to easily integrate them into educational software solutions, which is why this document presents a study of the characteristics, standards, and tools for creating and reusing OAs. For this purpose, a systematic literature review of 1023 scientific articles were carried out. With the results of 42 selected articles, a website was developed based on the SCRUM methodology, which integrates OAs oriented to the use of ICT tools to contribute to virtual education generated by the global crisis of the pandemic by the COVID-19. This study can serve as an input in future studies related to SCRUM-based learning objects.

Learning analytics for student academic tracking, a comparison between Analytics Graphs and Edwiser Reports 用于学生学业跟踪的学习分析,分析图和edwise报告之间的比较

This work presents a proposal for the progressive use of different methodologies and analytical learning techniques, using two tools available on the Moodle platform. To increase students' retentiveness and to analyze each participant’s progress and performance trends are the challenges that Big Data era allows us thanks to data analysis. By closely monitoring student learning and perseverance, it is possible to identify the factors that make them continue with their studies or drop out and thus be able to build predictive models for decision-making. The objective of this work is to show significant changes in the educational processes of student groups that allow teachers to validate, supervise and redirect detailed and specific information through learning analytics with tools available for virtual learning environments, thereby mitigating the risk of loss or desertion.

Towards a Selection and Acquisition Method for IoT Devices Oriented to Older People in Ecuador 厄瓜多尔面向老年人的物联网设备选择与获取方法研究

During old age, there is a deterioration of cognitive or physical functions that reduce the elderly’s independence. At this stage, the person may need help with activities of daily living. Many products and several lines of research based on the Internet of Things (IoT) have been opened to improve or preserve the physical and cognitive condition of the elderly, which leads to the prolongation of their independence. Regarding selecting these devices, methods are needed to guide the solution architect so that, based on physical, medical, technical, and economic specifications and additional considerations related to the needs and possibilities of the person or their environment, they select the more suitable IoT solution. In this context, this study proposes a methodology for the selection and acquisition of IoT devices that intervene in environments to improve the quality of life of the elderly, based on the previously identified requirements that IoT devices must meet and the restrictions of the environment. The proposed methodology is based on the multi-criteria decision-making technique called the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). Finally, a case study has been performed to demonstrate the feasibility of applying this solution.
