Development of mentalization skills and their relation to language development disordersEnikő GyörkőResearch of Theory of Mind (ToM) suggests that mentalizing ability correlates with the development of language skills. This study aimed to examine the relationships of the atypical development of language skills with ToM in school-age children. In the article we collected 3-year-old preschool child with atypical and normal language development. The atypical development oflanguage was measured by the KOFA-3 test, while ToM was measured by Sally and Anne test. Research has shown that children with delayed speech development have been significantly unsuccessful in resolving their mentalization situation compared to a group of children who typically develop. However, no correlation was found between KOFA-3 repository values andunsuccessful cognitive situations. The article argues that language development has an effect on the development of mentalizing ability. In other words, in the understanding of others, the state of thought is mutually supported by linguistic and cognitive theory.

University language training in the Middle Danube RegionZoltán KoltaiThe University of Pécs provided in 2021, in connection with the Paks II project, online English and Russian language learning, free of charge, for adults living or working in the settlements of the Middle Danube Region, or in the towns Bonyhád and Dombóvár. The aim of the programme was thepreparation of the inhabitants or the labour force of the area for personal communication with the foreign employers and their family members arriving for the implementation of the Paks II investment. The implementation of the training took place with the involvement of language teachers provided by two faculties of the University of Pécs: the Faculty of Humanities and SocialSciences and the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Education and Regional Development. The paper demonstrates the major steps of the organisational process of the programme, with special emphasis on the challenges related to online implementation, and also focuses on the achievements.

Language, Communication, MediaGábor SzécsiThe article argues that the expansion of new communication technologies leads to a globally perceptible semantic development. The essence of this is that in the environment of new media, orality and multimediality, which are gaining an increasing role in communication, lead to the image of language in the sense of meaning, and to the development of new language usage habits that determine both the process of thinking and the structure of consciousness. These language usage habits significantly contribute to the rapid changes in community roles associated with multi-channel communication, the convergence of different community languages and communication situations, the blurring of community boundaries, i.e. the mediatization of communities. What's more, the birth of the new concept of community and the creation ofnew community forms is also the source of the language that is transforming in the medium of new media, whose figurative nature leaves deep traces in the structure of the consciousness of the communicating person, in his image of himself and the community relations that determine his communicative actions. As I try to highlight in this essay, all of this presupposes the development of hitherto unknown patterns of linguistic creativity. Using language games, abbreviations, humor, picture-word combinations, which are becoming more and more common tools with the use of new communication technologies, everyday language users communicate with each other as creative designers of language meaning. Linguistic creativity becomes acommunity-forming phenomenon of everyday language use.

How do adaptation to the new cultural environment and the quality of democracy in the century of knowledge relate?Tamás BrachingerThe lying as a political tool is hardly new. But the propensity to deceive, and even enthusiasm, has become a driving force around the world. I most focus on two factors. Political bias is a bias or perceived bias involving the slanting or altering of information to make a political position or political candidate seem more attractive. Bias emerges in a political context when individualsengage in an inability or an unwillingness to understand a politically opposing point of view. Post-truth politics is a political culture in which debate is framed largely by appeals to emotion disconnected from the details of policy, and by the repeated assertion of talking points to which factual rebuttals are ignored. Post-truth differs from traditional contesting and falsifying of facts byrelegating facts and expert opinions to be of secondary importance relative to appeal to emotion.

The foundations of musical understanding in a narratologicalapproachGábor Szécsi – Gergely BogányiNarrative thinking has a significant role in the formation of the self and identity. In fact, to such an extent that the self is seen as the product of narrative thinking, a fictional character emerging at the intersection of autobiographical narratives. The aim of this article is to define the conceptual framework of a narratological model that sheds light on the foundations of musical understanding. We try to achieve this goal by synthesizing the narratological theories born in the field of musicology, music psychology and linguistic, linguistic philosophical and narrative psychological theories discussing the facts of linguistic performance in the narratological context. In the spirit of this synthesis, we argue that the process of musical understanding takes place at the intersection of narratives that are essentially arranged on two levels.
