The article provides an overview of the problem of changing the thermal regime of the lakes of the temperate zone of the northern hemisphere. Interrelations between meteorological conditions on the territory of Belarus and thermodynamic processes in different types of lakes are revealed. The issues of the influ-ence of air temperature and wind speed on the heat storage of the water mass and the thermal structure of water bodies in Belarus are considered. An analysis of the long-term dynamics of heat storage and thermal stability is gi-ven. The tendency to an increase in thermal stability and heat storage of the studied water bodies, which has been particularly pronounced in the last two decades, is shown. In deep lakes, this contributed to the enhancement of ther-mal stratification and the deterioration of the gas regime in the bottom layers during the summer period. A more si-gnificant increase in thermal stability may result in the transition of mid-deep lakes from a polymictic state to a di-mictic one, and, as a result, a decrease in the oxygen concentration in hypolimnion.

The problems of surveying the lands of the former Semipalatinsk nuclear testing ground contaminated with radionuclide are considered. It is shown that the possibility of the state reserve lands being used as agricultural depends on the degree of their contamination with radionuclide and heavy metals. The data are needed for the state reserve lands transfer to agricultural assets.

The article presents spectral distribution of the magnetic noise of low frequency (0.01÷200 Hz) within a large industrial city as in the case of Ekaterinburgin in a different time of the day. It is shown that in addition to the power frequency and its first harmonics, the amplitude of the magnetic noise at frequencies less than 3 Hz monotonically increases. Pulses of magnetic fields have the highest amplitude generated by rail and electric vehicles (up to 10.000 nT peak to peak above the metro line), which are significantly higher than the average intensity of the magnetic noise of the city, but this magnetic noise is close to the underground lines and to the railway tracks. Since the duration and frequency of occurrence of the pulsed noise has random nature, they do not appear in the Fourier spectrum as discrete spectral lines.

The features of the thermal regime of the sedimentary basin of the South Caspian and their reflection in the history of changes in katagenesis of pool rock organic matter are investigated. Numerical reconstructions of the evolution of the thermal regime and the history of pool sinking obtained with application of the pools simulator system GALO are used. Modeling assumes a high and noticeably unsteady modern mantle thermal conditions in the region and expressed activity of processes of dispersion heat transfer, increasing the effective thermal conductivity of the upper sedimentary rocks by several times. Assessment of the degree of katagenesis of organic matter in sedimentary section rocks of the western part of the South Caspian Basin has shown that the rocks of the lower Paleocene, Lower Eocene and Lower Maikop can only be regarded as a gas-generating, while the Middle Maikop rocks can be considered as promising for the generation both liquid and gas hydrocarbons.
