Some approaches for automated reconfiguration of telecommunication convergent processes have been proposed recently. However, mechanisms for monitoring and error detection are focused mostly in subjacent layers without considering high level errors. The present work presents an approach for monitoring and error detecting in convergent processes based on semantic technologies both to represent services and to define rules for monitoring, taking the concept of event from ITIL. Furthermore, the approach is included in the monitoring module of the AUTO framework and tested in Telecom servers using a rule based engine. Preliminary experimentation is also presented.

This paper aims to analyze the JClic and Hot Potatoes tools and their behavior in e-learning environments. These tools are meant to create activities and exercises of the ministry contents by the teacher. Such tools have their specific characteristics and do not always meet the proposed in their concepts. It was used for this work a broad literature search in papers and publications found in repositories on the Internet, especially in Google Scholar. In addition to the literature research in loco through questionnaires was conducted with teachers, tutors and coordinators of the distance of an institution of technical education. The work also presents charts and tables that show the acceptance of the tool by the school community. The research is justified by the low use of search tools and its impact on development of students in e-learning mode. This also suggests the exchange of the tools studied here by using a local tool, developed by the school's own teachers.

Apply theory and practice is usually a difficult task to lead in undergraduate courses. Generally disciplines involving development projects are used as an attempt to minimize this difficulty. One way of conducting this kind of discipline is defining a development methodology to be applied. This paper aims to present an approach based on design thinking to develop products and services that involve software, aligned with the best practices of Software Engineering. An assessment of the approach was carried out with students of the discipline, concluding that its use contributed to improve communication, documentation and projects monitoring.

This paper presents a prototype for a honeynet based on SDN. The prototype is structured by a Pyretic controller, an application, a switch with OpenFlow support and a network. The network is composed of two segments; one of them called the production network, and the other, the honeynet. The application helps detecting and deviating attacks to the honeynet. Six different types of attacks are considered, three of them are Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and the other two are spoofing attacks. The DoS selected attacks are SMURF, THC SSL DoS and TCP SYN Flood; and the spoofing attacks are based on DNS, IP and ARP. The application contains a main module that is responsible for calling six additional modules, each designed for detecting a particular attack; the main module also loads a secondary module that injects the analyzed packets back into one of the two segments of the network. The application can be customized using a configuration file that flags whether the application will run a specific module or the six modules simultaneously; this allows protecting the network from either a particular attack or from all the six chosen attacks. A description of the developed modules using Pyretic is included. In addition, results of several tests carried out using the prototype for testing attacks are presented.

The Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) are the foundation for the Administration to achieve lower costs, streamline processes and provide better service to citizens; but above all they allow you to convert the public sector in a driving agent of economic development and innovation of one country, two key factors in times of crisis. However, there is still a digital divide in rural areas. This article is presented as access and appropriate use of ICT changes the management of municipal processes in rural areas, benefiting taxpayers and the community in general. Under the Draft Social Cohesion, the methodology used and the results obtained are described. This project seeks to improve the management of municipal services to the population through the inclusion of innovations and new technologies, to offer better services to the population.

The rise of wireless technology and mobile devices has increased the number and types of resources to be integrated to the grid. As a result, the concept of grid has been enriched and new categories have emerged. One of these new categories is the mobile grid, which include mobile devices as resource providers. Many articles have been written in the past decade about mobile grids. These include surveys, implementations and challenges of this young technology. We want to explore the use of mobile grids for medical image processing and analysis. This impose certain constraints such as the use of C++ and MPI library. We start by evaluating existing implementations of mobile grids under these restrictions. One of our main finding is that the number of available mobile grids is really scarce. BOINC was the open source system more suitable for our research project.

In this paper, we present a proposal of a recommendation tool for creating collaborative image stories called Story-Motion. This system will allow users to put their images and photos together in a single story, performed in a semiautomatic way. Any users are free to continue the story as they want, though they can not change what has already been put into it. By doing so, StoryMotion gives its users freedom on the creation process at the same time as it guarantees the authorship of each participant in the story. This can lead to stories that comprehend scopes such as Education, Tourism and Politics. Throughout this paper, it will be described our motivations and theoretical foundation that led to projecting StoryMotion, how our prototype works, its major components and experimental evaluation. After presenting a brief overview of related works, we discuss about our research findings and future work.

Discussions on environmental issues have started years ago. In fact, recently, this issue has been discussed considerable because of the perception of the damage caused to the environment regarding the resulting pressures of social development on natural resources. Different sectors of society have adopted sustainable practices as a means to contribute to minimizing such damage. In this scenario, a research project is being conducted in the Program of Post Graduation in Technology and Distance Education of a Federal University in Brazil aiming to improve the framework of sustainable actions. For this, educational actions are being developed on environmental issues and also sustainable practices involving the participants and the development and use of an application for mobile devices, EcoÁgua, to encourage using water responsibly. Thus, it is expected with the ongoing research, to provoke a critical reflection in relation to environmental issues and to contribute to responsible water use.
