SUMMARY In this study, a simple, rapid and accurate capillary electrophoresis method has been developed for the determination of lactulose and mannitol in urine for estimating the intestinal permeability. The urine samples were prepared to analyze by using solid phase extraction. For analysis a background electrolyte (BGE) consisted of 6 mmol/L sorbic acid, 1.25mmol/L hexadecyltrimethylammoniumbromide (HDTMA), 50 mmol/L LiOH (pH 12.5) was used. Separation was performed at -5 kV over 20 min within the fused capillary column (45 cm, 50 I¼m I.D.) at 20 °C. The method developed was applied a series of urine sample to measure the lactulose/mannitol concentration rate. SUMMARY Fungicides are at high risk exposure compounds both pre and post harvest time due to their usage during storage. Fungucides have various benefits on agricultural struggle. Apart from that, studies showed that fungucides also have mutagenic, carcinogenic, chronic toxic effects on nervous system, immune system, hormonal and reproductive system. Triazole group fungicides, prochloraz, tebuconazole, triadimenole and triadimefone, are commonly used in the world. In the study, it is aimed to emphasize about their importance on human and environmental health. And, we evaluated their potential cytotoxic effect on HeLa cells by using MTT and LDH tests. Before the tests application, the parameters like cell counts, incubation times, pesticide concentrations and test circumstances were examined for test optimization. As a result, for MTT cytotoxicity test IC50 values of prochloraz, tebuconazole, triadimefone and triadimenole were recorded in order as 0.4, >1, 0.24 and 0.37 mg/ml. As well for LDH test these values were identified in order as 0.065, 0.985, 0.052 and 0.042 mg/ml. MTT test, used to identify hazards on mitochondrial activity and respiratory chain, showed that cytotoxic effect of prochloraz, triadimefone and triadimenole was dose dependently increased. While tebuconazole showed cytotoxic effect on concentration range studied, it was seen that IC50 values for LDH test which is used to identify membrane damage were lower than IC50 values compared with MTT test. The obtained results would draw attention to expand researches on toxic effects of triazole fungicides which are identified as cytotoxic for human and environment health. Activities of seven different disinfectants that are used commonly against bacteria, fungi and spores have been assessed by using the European Standard EN 1276, EN 1650 and EN 13704 methods, respectively. Disinfectants that contain sodium hypochloride, cationic surfactants and their combinations were found to be effective in five minutes against Escherichia coli ATCC 10799, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231 strains. Disinfectants that contain anionic and non-ionic surfactants and organic chloride compounds were found to be effective in 15 minutes against E. coli ATCC 10799 and S. aureus ATCC 6538, and in 30 minutes against E.faecalis ATCC 29212 and C.albicans ATCC 10231. Organic chloride compound and cationic surfactant - alcohol ethoxylate combination showed sporicidal activity against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633 spores in 15 minutes. We found the producer's recommended concentrations were sufficient to achieve an effective disinfection against vegetative bacteria and yeast, but not to bacterial spores.

Centaurea hermannii de yakin bir turu olmayan, Turkiye'nin kuzey batisinda yayilis yapan oksin endemik bir turdur. Bu calismada C kilaea ve C hermannii 'nin kromozom sayilari ile yayilislari incelenerek, tehdit ve korunma degerleriyle ilgili yaklasimlar ortaya konulmustur. Calismada ayrica bu turlerin anatomik ozellikleri belirlenmistir.
