User-Centered Evaluation of Recommender Systems with Comparison between Short and Long Profile 以用户为中心的推荐系统评价与长、短配置文件的比较

The growth of the social web poses new challenges and opportunities for recommender systems. The goal of Recommender Systems (RSs) is to filter information from a large data set and to recommend to users only the items that are most likely to interest and/or appeal to them. The quality of a RS is typically defined in terms of different attributes, the principal ones being relevance, novelty, serendipity and global satisfaction. Most existing works evaluate quality of Recommender Systems in terms of statistical factors that are algorithmically measured. This paper aims to explore whether (i) algorithmic measures of RS quality are in accordance with user-based measure and (ii) the user perceived quality of a RS is affected by the number of movies rated by the user. For this purpose we designed, developed and tested a web recommender system, TheBestMovie4You (http://www.moviers.it), which allows us to collect questionnaires about the quality of recommendations. We made a questionnaire and gave it to 240 subjects and we wanted to have as wide a set of users as possible using social web. In a experiment we asked the users to choose five movies (short profile), in a second to choose ten (long profile). Our results show that statistical properties fail in fully describing the quality of algorithms, because with user-centered metrics we can outline an algorithm's features that otherwise could not be detected. The comparison between the two phases highlighted a difference only in three cases out of twenty.

A Supporting Method of Medical Imaging Diagnosis with Sonification 超声医学影像诊断的辅助方法

Recently, Computer Aided Diagnosis (CAD) has become one of the most important for medical activity. The more exact and various CAD become, the larger amount of medical images are provided. Furthermore, these images become high definition. Radiologists have to cost their time and efforts to investigate these medical images. It is strongly required to reduce their burden without debasing the quality of imaging diagnosis. In this paper, we propose the technique to generate sound information based on the image features and discuss their sounds for diagnosis. Sonification technique helps for attention rousing and the fatigue reduction for medical imaging diagnosis.

Towards Designing Users' Intuitive Web Interface 设计用户直观的Web界面

This is a progress report on a research project "semiotics perception on web interfaces: evaluation and optimization of web usability and end user experience" that intended to reveal the factors of designing/re-designing the users' intuitive web interface signs for boosting the web usability from a semiotics point of view. Towards achieving this research goal, so far, a systematic empirical study was conducted on 272 web interface signs and preliminary revealed a number of semiotics considerations to design the users' intuitive web signs to increase the web usability. This paper presents the study methodology, examples of data extraction and the preliminary outcomes.

Combining Individualization and Intuitive Guided Learning through Compound Learning Resources 利用复合学习资源将个性化与直观引导学习相结合

Individualized teaching approaches try to find the best sequence of learning resources capable of satisfying individual goals and preferences. On the other side, intuitive guided learning approaches see the learning experience as "non-linear": each learner can chose a personal path across the material according to his/her interests and preferences. In this paper we present a method and a prototype able to combine the advantages of both approaches by introducing the concept of "compound learning resource": a complex didactic artifact bringing together multiple semantically connected learning resources that can be freely browsed by the learner. Included semantic connections have a twofold function: from one side they guide the learners' navigation, from the other side they allow the dynamic reconfiguration of the resource according to learners' needs and preferences (individualization). Experimental results with real users in a University context are also presented.

An Evaluation Framework for Assessing and Optimizing Multimodal Fusion Engines Performance 多模态融合发动机性能评估与优化的评估框架

The current development of interactive systems is shifting its focus into adding new features and capabilities, encompassing for example, new input devices and ways of interacting. Some applications make use of different modalities for both input and output, which adds great complexity to such systems. Due to a possible high number of input modalities and devices available, the task of combining all the information conveyed by users from these sources, becomes critical and troublesome. This process is commonly referred to, as multi modal fusion, and is performed by fusion engines, components of multi modal systems, that have the purpose of receiving multiple streams of input, combine them, and reaching an interpretation of user intent. Evaluating the efficiency of this process is a task that requires a considerate amount of effort, due to all the variables involved. In this paper we present an evaluation framework and methodology aimed towards the assessment and optimization of fusion engines performance. We begin by correlating our work to project GUIDE, explaining how fusion is achieved and how information about user and context are used for adaptation. Subsequent sections discuss the proposed framework, and how it enables developers to assess and improve their components performance. The article concludes by showing some results that demonstrate the benefits of using such an approach and the impact it can have on the development of fusion engines.

Monitoring Interior Wall Maintenance in a Virtual Environment 虚拟环境下的内墙维护监控

In a building, the paint coating applied to interior walls conveys their aesthetic character and also performs an important function of protection. It is a construction component which is exposed to agents of deterioration related to its use, needing the regular evaluation of its state of repair. The completed model supports the performance of such periodic inspections and the monitoring of interior wall maintenance, using Virtual Reality (VR) Technology. Used during an inspection visit, the application allows users to consult a database of irregularities, normally associated with paint coating, classified by the most probable causes and by recommended repair methodologies. In addition, with this model, a chromatic scale related to the degree of deterioration of the coating, defined as a function of the time between the dates of the application of the paint and the scheduled repainting, can be attributed to each element of coating monitored. This use of VR technology allows inspections and the evaluation of the degree of wear and tear of materials to be carried out in a highly direct and intuitive manner. The computer application has a positive contribution to make in the field of construction, using as it does Information Technology (IT) tools which give access to innovative technology with it capacity for interaction and visualization.

In Silico Prediction and In Vitro Characterization of Unique Function of Human RNase3 人类RNase3独特功能的计算机预测和体外鉴定

Ribonucleases (RNases) constitute a cellular function of exo- and endo-nucleases in all living organisms include vertebrate, bacteria, mold and plant. Human ribonuclease A (hRNaseA) super family consists of thirteen members with high structure similarities. Among which hRNase3 has multiple functions such as RNase, cytotoxicity, and heap ran sulfate (HS) binding activity. Employing Clustal W2 multiple sequence alignment of 13 human RNase A family members revealed that hRNase3 shares 67% identity and 76% similarity with hRNase2, much higher than the others. Besides, both RNase 2 and RNase3 are high conserved among primates. In terms of hRNase3-heparin/heparan sulfate (HS) interaction, three putative heparin binding regions (HBRs), 34RWRCK38 (HBR1), 75RSRFR79 (HBR2) and 101RPGRR105 (HBR3) have been predicted due to presence of positive charge clusters. Furthermore, these regions are also characterized as unique peptide regions within all 13 RNase sequences by REMUS system. Our experimental data derived from protein engineering and binding assays have demonstrated that these HBRs indeed involve in characteristic functions of hRNase3. In summary, through evolution hRNaseA super family has gained novel functions which may be preserved in the unique region or domain to account for additional molecular interactions.

Employing Clustal W2 multiple sequence alignment of 13 human RNase A family members revealed that hRNase3 shares 67% identity and 76% similarity with hRNase2, much higher than the others. Besides, both RNase 2 and RNase3 are high conserved among primates. In terms of hRNase3-heparin/heparan sulfate (HS) interaction, three putative heparin binding regions (HBRs), 34RWRCK38 (HBR1), 75RSRFR79 (HBR2) and 101RPGRR105 (HBR3) have been predicted due to presence of positive charge clusters. Furthermore, these regions are also characterized as unique peptide regions within all 13 RNase sequences by REMUS system. Our experimental data derived from protein engineering and binding assays have demonstrated that these HBRs indeed involve in characteristic functions of hRNase3. An Automated Approach for Software Bug Classification 软件缺陷自动分类方法

Open source projects for example Eclipse and Fire fox have open source bug repositories. User reports bugs to these repositories. Users of these repositories are usually non-technical and cannot assign correct class to these bugs. Triaging of bugs, to developer, to fix them is a tedious and time consuming task. Developers are usually expert in particular areas. For example, few developers are expert in GUI and others are in java functionality. Assigning a particular bug to relevant developer could save time and would help to maintain the interest level of developers by assigning bugs according to their interest. However, assigning right bug to right developer is quite difficult for triager without knowing the actual class, the bug belongs to. In this research, we have classified the bugs in different labels on the basis of summary of the bug. Multinomial Naïve Bayes text classifier is used for classification purpose. For feature selection, Chi-Square and TFIDF algorithms were used. Using Naïve Bayes and Chi-square, we get average of 83 % accuracy.

Domain Independent Architecture and Behavior Modeling for Pervasive Computing Environments 面向普适计算环境的领域独立体系结构和行为建模

Although pervasive computing and ambient intelligence are emerging disciplines, domain independent middleware for those scenarios are rare. In this paper we propose act-mobile as a domain independent middleware for pervasive computing environments that consists of a central service platform and locally integrated gateways, building the bridge between sensors and actuators and the act-mobile server. Through the use of a centralized server we are able to connect to controlled environments over the internet and use different clients like mobile applications for monitoring and controlling. One key feature in achieving the domain independence is the way we define the behavior of the whole system and abstract from technical details to easily provide domain dependent functionality. The used state chart-based behavior modeling is also introduced in this paper. We show how we first build properties and composed properties to achieve a higher abstraction of sensor data and apply that abstraction to actuators, too. Finally, the rules are defined based on state charts using composed properties and activities.

Performance and Scalability of XML Query Processing XML查询处理的性能和可伸缩性

This paper discusses basic issues about the performance of semi-structured query processing in very large data sets. It is based on recent algorithm-engineering work, on the state of the art in performance management for XML query processing and on theoretical studies about the complexity structure of the querying problem. Its main conclusions provide a concrete view on the interaction between terabyte scale XML data, query complexity and current or future computer architectures. To provide a concrete and synthetic view of this diverse body of knowledge, the presentation follows a fictional use case whose characters face query problems of varying complexity that are set in multiple contexts and analyzed today before being projected to 2020 and 2030.
