Transfer of the spin of an electromagnetic wave to an ideal conductor 电磁波的自旋向理想导体的转移

It is indicated that when a circularly polarized electromagnetic wave is incident obliquely on an ideal conductor and reflected from it, the spin of the wave is partially transferred to the conductor. In this case, if the conductor rotates so that the axis of rotation is parallel to the transferred spin, then work is done. The work leads to a change in the frequency of the wave, and this can be recorded in a suitable interference experiment by shifting the interference fringes.

Research on uplink performance of MIMO terrestrial-satellite laser communication based on OSM-MBM joint modulation 基于OSM-MBM联合调制的MIMO地星激光通信上行性能研究

This paper proposes a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) terrestrial-satellite laser communication uplink system based on optical spatial modulation with medium-based modulation (OSM-MBM) joint modulation. The Málaga(M) distribution is used to describe the combined effects of near-ground turbulent light intensity scintillation, beam wander and angle of arrival fluctuation. The closed expression of the bit error rate (BER) of the OSM-MBM joint modulation MIMO terrestrial-satellite laser communication uplink is derived. The simulation analyzes the influence of transmitting radius, receiving aperture, beam divergence, zenith angle and signal-to-noise ratio on the system error performance, and compares it with traditional modulation, media-based modulation and optical space modulation. Finally, the experiment is verified by Monte Carlo. This research provides a theoretical reference for the engineering realization of the modulation technology for the MIMO terrestrial-satellite laser communication uplink system.

Three-dimensional optical image encryption using phase-shifting compressive Fresnel holography 基于相移压缩菲涅耳全息术的三维光学图像加密

A new method of three-dimensional (3D) image optical encryption based on phase-shifting compressive Fresnel holography (PSCFH) is presented. In the optical encryption step, the 3D object is encrypted with random phase masks using phase-shifting interferometry to record three intensity images with different phase-shifting. In the decryption step, the three-step phase-shifting technique is first used to extract the complex optical field at the recording plane. Finally, the 3D object is reconstructed from the recovered complex optical field using compressive Fresnel holography with the correct key. Numerical experiments demonstrate the feasibility and robustness of our proposed PSCFH method.

Paraxial propagation of cosine-hyperbolic-Gaussian beams in a chiral medium 余弦双曲高斯光束在手性介质中的近轴传播

The properties of a linearly polarized cosine-hyperbolic-Gaussian beam (ChGB) propagating in a chiral medium are investigated theoretically by using the Huygens-Fresnel diffraction integral. Beam intensity distribution characteristics in the chiral medium are discussed with numerical examples. The linearly polarized ChGB is found to split into a superposition of left and right circularly polarized Gaussian components, and its intensity pattern exhibits a variable shape depending on the chirality factor and decentered parameter b. The output beam can exhibit a richer intensity pattern compared to the Gaussian beam. The results could be beneficial for the application of ChGB in beam shaping and optical micromanipulation.

High-precision measurement on the extinction ratio of linear polarizers 线性偏振器消光比的高精度测量

The extinction ratio is an important optical parameter that determines the quality of the linear polarizers. Here, we propose a high-precision measurement method for linear polarization extinction ratio, which is based on two uniform and consistent unknown linear polarizers, an integrating sphere, a precision turntable, and a spectrometer. The precision turntable is used to change the relative angle between the two unknown linear polarizers. The Mueller matrixs with the optical parameters including relative angles of the two unknown linear polarizers are established, and the linear polarization extinction ratio is obtained by numerical calculation. This method does not require a reference linear polarizer with a high extinction ratio, nor does it require fine adjustment of the angle between the two unknown linear polarizers to obtain the maximum and minimum light intensity grayscale response of the detector, which has an important engineering significance for high-precision measurement of linear polarization extinction ratio.

Optical design of a null test for off-axis three-mirror system based on refractive-diffractive zoom hybrid compensator 基于折射-衍射-变焦混合补偿器的离轴三镜系统零位测试光学设计

In general, the reflectors of off-axis three-mirror system have large apertures and large differences in surface shape, which means it is difficult to use one set of null compensators to test all the aspheric mirrors in the off-axis three-mirror system because of the limitation of the dynamic range of the testing equipment. In this paper, we propose a surface shape test method that combines a refractive-zoom lens group and a Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) as a null compensator to test all the aspheric surfaces of one off-axis three-mirror system. The proposed method is verified by simulating the null test process of three aspheric mirrors of one off-axis three-mirror system, with the consideration of the fabrication and alignment errors. Simulation results show that the probability that residual wave aberration is within 0.1λ RMS is 50% for the primary mirror and 40% for the secondary mirror and 80% for the tertiary mirror.

Interplay between diffractive radiation shed and damping coefficient on nematicon propagation 衍射辐射散射与阻尼系数对向列传播的影响

This study considers the propagation of spatial soliton in nematic liquid crystals in the presence of damping in the nonlocal regime. The importance of diffractive radiation shed for an undisturbed propagation of nematicon has been analysed in this paper using variational and numerical methods. When the damping coefficient is constant, a large value of diffractive radiation height is required to counteract the effect of damping. If the damping coefficient varies with the propagation distance, the diffractive radiation has an important role in reducing the damping effect. In the case of the periodic damping profile, even larger diffractive radiation is needed to overcome the effect of damping as compared to the constant damping profiles. But a low value of diffractive radiation is enough to overcome the hyperbolic damping.

Influence of structural length-scale sensitivities on Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam propagation in biological tissues 结构长度尺度灵敏度对厄米-高斯矩形涡旋光束在生物组织中传播的影响

A modified power spectrum of biological tissues involving upper length-scale and bottom length-scale was introduced. In addition, the analytical expression of Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam with the parameter ( ) in free space was derived. By this modified power spectrum, we established the normalized probability model of orbital angular momentum (OAM) states for Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beams propagation in biological tissues. The results revealed that Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam exhibits a better anti-interference performance than Laguerre–Gaussian beam under the same conditions. The Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam propagates through a biological tissue with large bottom length-scale, small upper length-scale, small characteristic length of heterogeneity, low the fractal dimensions, and weak fluctuation strength, which produces a large normalized probability of signal OAM states. These results are fundamental to improving light propagation in tissue and provide a quantitative guidance for medical imaging and diagnosis.

In addition, the analytical expression of Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam with the parameter ( ) in free space was derived. By this modified power spectrum, we established the normalized probability model of orbital angular momentum (OAM) states for Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beams propagation in biological tissues. The results revealed that Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam exhibits a better anti-interference performance than Laguerre–Gaussian beam under the same conditions. The Hermite–Gaussian rectangular vortex beam propagates through a biological tissue with large bottom length-scale, small upper length-scale, small characteristic length of heterogeneity, low the fractal dimensions, and weak fluctuation strength, which produces a large normalized probability of signal OAM states. A fusion denoising method based on homomorphic transform and 3D transform-domain collaborative filtering for laser speckle imaging of blood flow 基于同态变换和三维变换域协同滤波的血流激光散斑图像融合去噪方法

Laser speckle contrast imaging (LSCI) is a real-time, full-field, non-contact optical imaging technique that has been widely used in blood flow imaging. However, its practical applications are limited due to its low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and low image contrast. In this study, a fusion denoising algorithm based on homomorphic transform and block-matching and 3D transform-domain collaborative filtering algorithm is proposed to reduce noise and improve image contrast. The reliability and applicability of the proposed method were evaluated by a phantom experiment and two in vivo experiments. The results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively remove the noise and enhance the image contrast. Consequently, the SNR is increased, the dynamic range of LSCI is expanded, and the estimation accuracy of blood flow is improved.

An efficient neural network for low sampling computational ghost imaging based on EMNIST training 基于EMNIST训练的低采样计算重影成像高效神经网络

In this paper, we propose a new network to achieve low-sampling computational ghost imaging. The proposed neural network that combines ResNeXt, eHoloNet and spatial attention mechanism is efficient for object reconstruction just based on EMNIST training, which is much simpler and time-saving. The generalization of the neural network is verified with multi-slits as well as complex object. Both simulated and experimental results show that the proposed network can give an effective reconstruction at 0.7% sampling rate. The neural network in this work is of great significance to ghost imaging in a wider application scenarios, such as real-time imaging and dynamic detection of motion object.
