Young adult literature (YAL) is an important and necessary part of moral upbringing in teenagers and young adult lives. The present study seeks to investigate the effect of young adult literature on the morals of students in high school. The study utilized the quasi-experimental cum survey design and a sample of one hundred and forty (140) students of two schools were drawn from the eleven senior secondary schools in Bwari Area Council of Abuja, Nigeria. The intact class was utilized in each of the two schools, and the instruments for data collection was an Attitude to Morals Questionnaire (AMQ). The reliability and validity of the research instrument was assessed using Cronbach Alpha test with result of 0.91. The research questions and hypotheses were tested using mean score and two independent sample t-tests statistical methodology and all tests were computed at the 0.05 levels of significance with Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 26. The findings of this study revealed that young adult literature significantly impact on the morals of the high school students. It was also discovered that honesty and respect for elders varies significantly in both the experimental and control groups. More so, the result showed that tolerance of male does not vary significantly with that of the female students in the experimental group. Schools should equip their libraries with sufficient novels on young adult literatures, the teachers should dwell more on the plot, theme and characters in the novels. Students should be guided, and emphasis should be made on the need to read young adult literatures, and more time should be allotted on the school timetable for reading of young adult literature.

In the last decade, the use of information and communication technology (ICT) in education is a crucial issue that is often researched, also ICT research at the kindergarten level. However, the most common issue in ICT integration at school is teacher readiness in the integration of ICT. Especially if it applies to kindergarten teachers, integrating ICT in kindergarten students will add positive value to the learning process and students’ study results. The method used in this research is the quantitative method using the ICT integration perception scale questionnaire in learning (α Cronbach = 0,926) which was modified so the questionnaire will match with the research. Thirty kindergarten teachers from the Banyumas area in Indonesia joined this study. The main analysis technique in this research used descriptive analysis and helped with Jamovi 1.8.4. This research shows teachers’ perception of ICT is still in the medium category. There is also an additional finding that age negatively correlates with ICT perception. The discussion related to the findings is also discussed.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic conditions of all countries in the world experienced a decline, including in Indonesia. This has an impact also in the field of education so that the initial education pattern is face-to-face turned online. It also definitely affects the needs of students, especially in matters relating to Abraham Maslow’s theory. This study aims to determine the changing needs of students during the COVID-19 pandemic in accordance with Abraham Maslow’s theory of needs. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach by examining behavior, perceptions, motivations, actions, and others as well as describing in the form of words and language, in a special natural context and by utilizing various natural methods. The research was conducted by interviewing students who took part in online internships. The findings of this study are that students prioritize self-actualization needs over other needs such as physiological needs, the need for safety, the need for belonging and affection as well as the need for appreciation. Of course, this finding is quite surprising because students are willing to do internships by working professionally without being paid. Students want themselves to be productive during the COVID-19 pandemic by participating in internships that are not required by their universities. This study has limitations on students who are participating in work internships during the covid-19 pandemic. This research can be further developed in the future to be wider in the scope of students and in different conditions. The originality of this research lies in the object of research, namely students who are participating in work internships during the pandemic, which is very new during the covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the method used must also comply with the applicable health protocol.

Based on the Problems Studied, the method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. From a total of 113 employees of the faculty of vocational studies, Universitas Airlangga, researchers took 3 samples from each generation randomly. The research was conducted by interview method using zoom meeting. The results of this study indicate that: the baby boomers prefer to work offline because they are unable to provide maximum performance for their work. This is due to the inability to master the internet of things, computer equipment, and not being able to follow the service system that has been changed to completely online. On the other hand, millennials prefer online work models. This is due to the ability to master the internet of things and more computer equipment which makes this generation much easier and more adaptive to the service system that is converted to online. So it can be concluded that the Covid-19 Pandemic situation has an impact on intergenerational professionalism especially in faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga. The limitation in this study is a research on the comparison of professionalism between generations at the faculty of Vocational Studies Universitas Airlangga which was conducted during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The research was conducted during a crisis period, namely the Covid-19 Pandemic. During this difficult time it would be significant to see a comparison of professionalism between generations compared to normal situations.

In order to improve the academic English writing level of domestic science scholars and speed up the process of internationalization of my country’s academic achievements, we selected 150 scientific academic papers respectively written by Chinese and English scholars from international authoritative journals to build a self-built comparative corpus, and used Biber’s multi-dimensional analysis model to compare these papers. The research results found that: first, there are significant differences in the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth dimensions of Chinese and English scholars’ science academic papers; second, Chinese scholars’ science academic papers have strong information abstraction , non-narrative, referential clarity and non-explicit persuasion; third, although Chinese scholars’ academic papers have a certain lexical richness and grammatical diversity at this stage, there is significant difference between Chinese and English scholars’ academic papers.

The quality of students is reflected in the quality of education. As a result, teachers must be persistent in achieving good and appropriate educational goals. This study aimed to determine the role of a growth mindset on grit in high school teachers in Purwokerto, Indonesia. This research is a quantitative study using a simple random sample sampling technique, which obtained 174 samples of high school teachers in Purwokerto. Data collection in this study used a growth mindset and a grit scale with a reliability coefficient of 0.895 for a growth mindset and 0.913 for grit. The analysis technique in this study uses simple linear analysis. The results showed that the value of F-test = 162.434 and T-test = 12.745 with a significance value (p) = 0.000 (p<005). The hypothesis in the study was accepted, namely that there was an influence between the growth mindset variable on grit. This study obtained a determinant coefficient or Rsquare of 0.486, implying that the influence of the growth mindset variable on the grit variable has an effective contribution of 48.6%. It can interpret as this influence that the perspective or belief held by the teacher will affect the persistence of effort and the consistency of interest held by the teacher. Further research can replicate the model on different populations of subjects with similar subject characteristics, such as kindergarten, elementary, junior high, or special education teachers who handle students.

In a virtual learning environment enforced by the pandemic, assessments are equally administered online using the technology tools available on the different learning management systems (LMS). Assessment is pivotal in the learning process and the many benefits of online quizzes according to research, show that it inspires, motivates active learning and thinking, and enhances better performance and feedback compared to the dated pen and paper form of assessment. In the light of this, this study examines students’ perspectives on Online quizzing and tries to understand the impacts of such form on their performances. A quantitative approach was employed, and it is interesting to note that of the 127 students of the University of Guyana that responded to the survey shared via Google Forms, students’ perspectives towards online quizzing are generally positive and the majority prefer online quizzing to paper-based assessment. Respondents noted that online quizzing measures evaluation appropriately as most of them have recorded positive impacts on their performances. Students noted that they get assistance online which implies cheating is unavoidable. The findings also show that the Multiple choice (MC) form of quizzing online is mostly preferred by students compared to other forms. In literature, there are lots of claims against the MC questions. One such is that they evaluate low thinking capabilities and thus, all forms of assessment should be used in an online examination to achieve better learning outcomes. The findings gathered prompted lots of educational discussions juxtaposed by claims and secondary supports. Recommendations were made with the emphasis on the availability of better internet, critically prepared MC questions and other assessments, provision of sufficient time while quizzing online, and proctored online tools usage. In conclusion, the evidence in the research proves that Online quizzing is beneficial in 21st-century learning; however, more needs to be done for the betterment of educational advancement.

The phenomena of voluntary simplicity and anti-consumption gain increasing awareness in the light of post-CoV debates on climate change and degrowth. Yet, the field lacks clear definitions and categorizations that make the vast amount of research hard to abstract for academic teaching purposes. This paper aims to bypass definitional shortcomings by introducing a meta-theoretical framework based on the three classic paradigms of sociology. Applying this framework shows that (1) the functionalist perspective provides a theoretical basis for presenting the phenomena as evolutionary adaptions to the need for sustainability or as gradual deviances from mainstream consumerism on a macro level. In contrast, (2) interactionism and phenomenology as the main theoretical and methodological source of sociological research in the field highlight the aspects of personal motivation for consuming less and the subsequent ramifications for individual wellbeing on the micro level. Finally, (3) the disruptive potential of consumer resistance associated with voluntary simplicity and anti-consumption can be theoretically visualized through the lens of conflict theory and postmodern perspectives.

Yet, the field lacks clear definitions and categorizations that make the vast amount of research hard to abstract for academic teaching purposes. This paper aims to bypass definitional shortcomings by introducing a meta-theoretical framework based on the three classic paradigms of sociology. Applying this framework shows that (1) the functionalist perspective provides a theoretical basis for presenting the phenomena as evolutionary adaptions to the need for sustainability or as gradual deviances from mainstream consumerism on a macro level. In contrast, (2) interactionism and phenomenology as the main theoretical and methodological source of sociological research in the field highlight the aspects of personal motivation for consuming less and the subsequent ramifications for individual wellbeing on the micro level. Finally, (3) the disruptive potential of consumer resistance associated with voluntary simplicity and anti-consumption can be theoretically visualized through the lens of conflict theory and postmodern perspectives.","PeriodicalId":168185,"journal":{"name":"Education, Sustainability & Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131374682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
