Triangulacja tych technik umożliwiła przedstawienie systematycznego przeglądu zastosowań różnych narzędzi i metod technologii cyfrowej w różnych obszarach i formach działalności wybranych muzeów. Stanowi skrócone kompendium informacji z tej dziedziny wiedzy i praktyki, zilustrowane przykładami zastosowań poszczególnych technologii i narzędzi w dwóch muzeach poddanych analizie.

Purpose/Thesis: The aim of this paper is to discuss the mutual relationship between open science and theory and practice in RIM (Research Information Management), especially apparent in CRISs (Current Research Information Systems), with an emphasis on the context of research assessment requirements, open science policies and CRIS interoperability.Approach/Methods: The study has been based on the critical review of the newest literature (2015–2019) presenting international studies of chosen aspects. Institution-centric and researcher-centric approaches has been presented.Results and conclusions: The emerging new ecosystem of open science changes the way research is done and modifies the monitoring and evaluating of it. CRIS must take into account the new transformation processes and research evaluation measures. This allows more transparency and more interaction with the individual researcher, as well as with the institutional, national and international stakeholders. Full interoperability and open standards are desired to improve the discoverability and reusability of research outputs and metadata for different purposes.Originality/Value: The study shows the significance of new tendencies in RIM/CRIS for researchers and research-performing organizations at institutional, national and international level.

Purpose/Thesis: The paper reviews the main concepts of information infrastructure, information environment, and information behavior of researchers in the context of digital revolution. The concept of open science and new models of scholarly communication are considered.Approach/Methods: Related studies of information infrastructure and information behavior of researchers are analyzed. We report on the results of a series of qualitative studies of information behavior and of information ecology of the academic environment in Slovakia based on interviews with doctoral students, expert researchers and information managers. We apply a previously developed original methodology of concept mapping.Results and conclusions: The results allow us to re-consider relevance assessment in the digital environment and to present a model of the information ecology in the information environment. We present the analyzed data represented by the concept maps which show the attitudes of researchers to open science, economic models of science and values of researchers. The final model of academic information ecologies is explained, and a new interactive model of the academic library is presented.Practical implications: We suggest the implications for the development of information science and for the education of information professionals.Originality/Value: Original models emphasize values of academic research, values of information, value-added services of academic libraries, and value-sensitive design of digital libraries.

Purpose/Thesis: This paper outlines the role of data curation in the context of Research 2.0 and Research Data Management.Approach/Methods: The argument is based on a non-exhaustive review of the literature.Results and conclusions: Despite the relative vagueness and variety of definitions of data curation, academic libraries should engage in it.Research limitations: The study focused mainly on theoretical writings.Practical implications: The worldwide challenge associated with Research Data Management and data curation. Several countries and institutions have already answered the challenge, but the overall level of its recognition is low, and thus there is a need to raise awareness of its importance.Originality/Value: The premise of the argument is based on the assumption that views on data are changing.

Purpose/Thesis: This paper attempts to present the trends in management and opening of research data in Poland and the European Union, based on the analysis of the recently published Polish and European acts and documents as well as of other international initiatives which might influence scholarly publishing and scholarly communication.Approach/Methods: An in-depth review of the latest documents was applied. Results and conclusions: I focused on highlighting the key elements of the reviewed documents and initiatives, highlighting the directions for managing and opening of research data they set and the implications they might have for Polish and European science. I also sketched the possible inconsistencies between the European and Polish policies related to research data and scholarly communication.Research limitations: The documents investigated for the purpose of this paper were either Polish or provided by the European Union (EU). I have not analyzed the national documents issued by the individual member states of the EU other than Poland. Hence, it is probable that some solutions on research data management and opening already taken on the level of individual member states have not been included in this paper.Practical implications: This paper may encourage a reflection on the relationship between the regulations issued at the European (EU) or at the national (in this case, Polish), and the practices and requirements of scholarly communication which often contradict those regulations.Originality/Value: This is the first analysis of the latest Polish and European documents and initiatives as related to data management and open data (open science).

Purpose/Thesis: The purpose of this study is to explore the uptake and use of Figshare by humanities community and to know if opening of the research data is enough to make them visible and findable.Approach/Methods: The overall research design was to gather a sample of humanities artifacts found on Figshare through its API, and then to analyze such indicators as the number of articles by discipline, the evolution of contribution per year, and the number of views and downloads by affiliation to an institution.Results and conclusions: The humanities community engagement with Figshare varies depending on the discipline; in addition, even when research data is published, 50% is rarely viewed. This means that making research data open is not enough to make it visible and to ensure their reuse. The final conclusion is that articles affiliated to an institution have more chance to be visible than unaffiliated ones.Research limitations: The limit of our study is that it can only analyze data present in Figshare and not the data that is missing, so we cannot know the reasons for the small visibility of humanities research data; the study of other data warehouses is necessary to give more explanation, but the results conform to the pattern visible in the data presented in several studies of research management practices.Originality/Value: The first study that explores the humanities contents the multidisciplinary data repository Figshare.

Purpose/Thesis: The paper contains a methodological reflection on qualitative analysis of visual empirical data as a research procedure in the contemporary human information behavior research. The possibility of implementing this approach has been tested on a case study of personalized information spaces in everyday life of undergraduate information management students in the academic year 2018/2019.Approach/Methods: The reported research employs the realist epistemological stance, qualitative and descriptive approaches, and four methods/techniques: critical literature review, case study, drawing as a mental mapping tool, and thematic analysis. Results and conclusions: Visual data analysis is cognitively fruitful; it enables grasping the multidimensional “information reality” as perceived by the users (the humanistic coefficient). However, it is time-consuming, it requires meticulousness and self-reflection on the part of the researcher; it must also leave a clear audit trail to assure credibility and intersubjective verifiability of investigations.Originality/Value: The article is concerned with innovative research procedures, rarely discussed in Polish information science literature. Combining visual approach with individual information spaces, it corresponds to the latest methodological and topical trends in the field of information behavior. It also links theoretical reflection with the research practice.

Purpose/Thesis: Many countries increasingly use bibliographic databases while devising new scientific policies to analyze and diagnose the state of a scientific discipline. Previous studies on the suitability of data from Web of Science and Scopus databases for this purpose gave ambiguous results. Their authors did not always account for an important issue – the quality of data from these databases. The aim of the article is to analyze the quality of data downloaded in an automated manner from the resources of the mentioned databases.Approach/Methods: The author used a qualitative method of data verification which consisted of automatic acquisition of data about journals from the Web of Science and Scopus databases, and then in their qualitative analysis. The analysis consisted of a comparison of data on journals representing of library and information science (LIS) retrieved from both databases and of the comparison between the qualitative data taken from the studied databases and the data from other, domain focused bibliographic databases; of comparing the acquired data with the information available on the websites of indexed journals and of the comparison of the method used by the producers of the abovementioned databases used to classify the journals as related of LIS, with the thematic scope of the discipline, as agreed upon by scholars.Results and conclusions: It was found that in the case of the examined discipline, automated data acquiring poses a risk of obtaining a low credibility set of data. Most problems are caused by the incompleteness of data and errors in disciplinary classifying journals, articles and authors.Originality/Value: It was shown that, contrary to the claims of the decision-makers of Polish science, in its present form, the studied bibliographic databases have only negligible usefulness for monitoring the state and development tendencies of LIS. Methodological problems created by both databases, presented in this article, may also have an impact on generating a reliable and objective picture of other scientific disciplines. The changes in the sphere of the functioning of WoS and Scopus, apparent for several years, have not dealt with the already existing problems and inconveniences.

Punktem wyjścia do rozważań jest teza L. Rosenfelda, P. Morville’a i J. Arango o roli rozumienia i interpretacji w projektowaniu architektury informacji. Proces rozumienia zachodzi w trakcie specyficznego rodzaju konwersacji użytkownika z systemem, którego ramy wyznacza model interakcji.

Arango o roli rozumienia i interpretacji w projektowaniu architektury informacji.Koncepcja/Metody: W warstwie metodologicznej artykuł opiera się na interpretacji modelu architektury informacji autorstwa L. Rosenfelda, P. Morville’a i J. Arango z punktu widzenia założeń hermeneutyki H. G. Gadamera oraz cyfrowej hermeneutyki R. Capurro.Wyniki i wnioski: Zastosowanie podejścia hermeneutycznego zarówno do projektowania jak i badania architektury informacji wyznacza określoną postawę poznawczą, w której przyjmuje się założenie o kulturowych i kontekstualnych determinantach organizacji wiedzy oraz wprowadza się koncepcję przed-sądów, które tworzą horyzont rozumienia użytkowników informacji. W takim ujęciu AI wiąże się z projektowaniem pewnej oferty znaczeniowej, której środkiem ekspresji są systemy organizacyjne, etykietowania, nawigacji i wyszukiwania. Proces rozumienia tej oferty polega na hermeneutycznej koncepcji fuzji otwartego horyzontu rozumienia użytkownika i zamkniętego i zaprojektowanego horyzontu systemu informacyjnego. Proces rozumienia zachodzi w trakcie specyficznego rodzaju konwersacji użytkownika z systemem, którego ramy wyznacza model interakcji.Oryginalność/Wartość poznawcza: Postawy poznawcze charakterystyczne dla hermeneutyki i fenomenologii hermeneutycznej widoczne są w dyskursie w ramach architektury informacji. Mają one charakter raczej heurystyk, nie zaś spójnej refleksji teoretycznej. Zaproponowany zarys hermeneutycznej koncepcji architektury informacji może stanowić punkt wyjścia do dyskusji nad teorią AI, szczególnie w kontekście prób uczynienia z niej dyscypliny akademickiej.","PeriodicalId":176717,"journal":{"name":"Zagadnienia Informacji Naukowej - Studia Informacyjne","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130139710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
