A novel coil design for magnetic nerve stimulation 一种新颖的磁神经刺激线圈设计

Magnetic nerve stimulation is a non-invasive method of exciting neural tissue. Stimulation can be achieved by exposing the body to a transient magnetic field which is generated by passing a high current through a coil over short period of time. By positioning the coil in a specific orientation over the targeted nerve, the magnetic field will create an electric field in the conductive milieu of the body. Induced currents will result from that electric field. If those currents reach a certain amplitude within a specific time period this will cause a neural depolarization. This depolarization will enable us to test and examine the excited nerve providing the necessary data for an effective treatment. In this paper we describe a new design for the stimulating coil with the aim of achieving a more focused magnetic field. This resultant field will excite deep targeted nerves with minimum excitation to the surrounding nerves.

Balanced transformations: their computation and some applications 平衡转换:它们的计算和一些应用

Balanced transformations, in which an input property of a linear system (e.g. controllability) is 'symmetrized' or 'balanced' with an output properly (e.g. observability) by making a suitable choice of basis, are considered. Some algorithms available for computing these transformations are examined for both the first-order and second-order forms of linear time-invariant systems. An important feature of these methods is the simultaneous diagonalization of the controllability/observability Gramians by solving two Lyapunov equations. Different application areas of balanced transformations are highlighted and some limitations and/or problems are pointed out.

An on-line real-time relative dissipation factor monitoring system 一种在线实时相对耗散因子监测系统

A prototype on-line, real-time relative dissipation factor system is described. Selected data recorded during a long-term, more than a year, experiment, conducted in a high-voltage laboratory, is presented. Data taken on "good" current transformers, data indicating the resolution of the system, and data taken during the actual failure of a current transformer are presented. The data presented illustrate the potential for on-line, real-time relative dissipation factor monitoring of fluid-paper insulation systems to help utilities maximize their use of capital intensive assets and reduce the risk of disruptive failures.

Modeling and dynamic analysis of a fast response three phase PWM voltage source rectifier 快速响应三相PWM电压源整流器的建模与动态分析

This paper presents dynamic analysis of a three-phase PWM voltage source rectifier based AC/DC power supply system using a feedforward/feedback control algorithm proposed by the authors previously. A small signal model of the power supply in s-domain is derived. This model is used in obtaining transfer functions describing the response of the DC output voltage following load, line and reference changes. The dynamic analysis is verified by transfer function simulation using MATLAB and time domain simulation of the power supply system.

Adaptive high precision position control for a flexible joint with friction and parameter uncertainties using neural networks 基于神经网络的含摩擦和参数不确定柔性关节自适应高精度位置控制

Dynamic position-control of a flexible joint is proposed by applying adaptive control and artificial neural networks (ANNs). A flexible joint is modeled, including Coulomb and static frictions and the model is represented as an ANN. The control strategy is based on a dual loop strategy. An outer load state feedback is used to compute desired load torque and motor state. An inner motor state feedback loop is used to control the motor. Both loops use feedforward compensation of friction. The controllers are represented as an ANN, the system parameters being the weights of the output layer. Parameter identification is achieved using the recursive least squares algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed controller can suppress vibrations.

A novel technique for tracking time-varying minimum and its applications 一种新的时变最小值跟踪技术及其应用

A technique for tracking the time-varying minimum of a time-dependent function is proposed. It ensures the tracking process converge exponentially. It also enables the tracking to move from the minimum at one instant of time to the minimum at the next instant of time, without any error. Examples are given to show that this technique is effective for tracking the time-varying minimum. Application of this technique to on-line continuous system identification, on-line neural network learning, etc. gives rise to improved results.

Search and rescue satellite-aided tracking (SARSAT) involves the use of satellites in low-polar orbits which relay the emergency signals of distressed vehicles to an earth station for signal analysis. We compare three methods of spectral estimation for coherent emergency locator transmitter signals.

The VideoWriter: towards active paper for a natural user interface VideoWriter:为自然的用户界面转向活动纸张

The VideoWriter is an investigation into applying a natural user interface to telewriting. It employs a computer-controlled video camera to capture images of the user's writing space: a desk with various pieces of paper. The images are processed to extract the written marks on the current page from the clutter of objects in the scene, including the user's moving hand and pen. The system compresses the extracted marks for transmission. The system is successful at extracting the marks as the user is writing and avoids digitizing most false marks. It incorporates update mechanisms that deal with false marks that do occur.

Fuzzy logic based supplementary controller for static synchronous series compensator 基于模糊逻辑的静态同步串联补偿器补充控制器

The static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) have been gaining a lot of consideration in power systems with respect to increase and control of power flow in transmission lines. In this paper, a fuzzy logic based supplementary controller has been designed for SSSC to improve power system dynamic performance. A signal based on transmission line current has been used as a supplementary signal to the controller. The performance of the fuzzy logic based supplementary controller has been studied on a multi-machine system and the results have been presented.
