There is a great demand for the reduction of solid urban waste issues at the national level, which includes urban pruning waste. There are no specific laws and guidelines directed to pruning waste, thus falling under the urban general cleaning laws. The green material from pruning generates a large volume of waste, and it is necessary to seek possibilities and resources to reuse this organic waste. Through technical feasibility, sustainability, and reuse, promote the minimization and make environmentally correct disposal. Urban afforestation, as a relevant element in the urban plan of a municipality, is beneficial to all qualities of life, and the waste it generates is an abundant, sustainable raw material with a wide variation of use. To adequately work these residues, sustainable management is needed. The use of pruning residues is a low-cost resource, advantageous because of its arboreal variety of applications. To develop a management plan for the reuse of pruning residues that can better exploit the organic input, contributing to the environmental, social, and economic aspects. To create solutions that allow integrated actions, generating work, learning, income, and economy to the municipality, along with environmental education. The management as a form of reuse is the valorization device of all this material. It is the stimulus to sustainable development and the insertion of the look for the renewal of what can be reused. Adding value and, in an economic and combined way, increasing the capacity as organic raw material, providing ecological actions for the municipality and society. Awareness and efforts are needed by the city government and society in general regarding the benefits of reuse and use of urban pruning inputs.

The objective of this work is to analyze the generation of employment and income for recyclable material collectors and the role of public policies in this matter. To reach this objective, we start from the hypothesis that the Circular Economy is an alternative to insert the collectors in the productive chain of waste of recyclable materials, enabling the creation of employment and income for them. For this, the methodology used was action research, in addition to interviews and application of questionnaires with the cooperative members. As a basic theory, we use the Circular Economy, which advocates the use of secondary raw materials, the reinsertion of recyclable materials into the production chain, recycling and reuse of products, to maintain the circularity of the production process, taking into account sustainability. As a result, we identified that through the productive organization of the cooperative, important improvements are generated in the generation of employment and income, satisfying the financial and personal needs through productivity, especially those who are in economic vulnerability, however, there was a lack of support of public policies (City Hall), as support in this selective collection activity.

The inadequate final disposal of solid waste impacts the lives of the population and the environment, and in a scenario of growth of housing developments of the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program, it is essential to waste management generated there. In this context, the objective of this study was to characterize the management of solid waste generated in the Oton Gomes de Lima Residential located in Moju-Pará, as well as the perception of residents about the issue. To this end, a mixed questionnaire was applied to 92 residents of the Residential. The results were as follows: (i) it was possible to trace the socioeconomic profile of the interviewees, whose majority lives in a situation of economic vulnerability; (ii) and identify, as for the perception and management of solid waste, that the majority had difficulty in conceptualizing types of solid waste and that in the Residential there are problems related to segregation, packaging and final destination of the waste generated in the place. Therefore, it is recommended to implement a Solid Waste Management Plan and Environmental Education actions in the Residential.

During the stages involved in the water treatment process, sludge forms, which is characterized as solid waste and, therefore, its destination must be compatible with the guidelines of the PNRS Law 12.305/2010, prioritizing reduction, reuse and recycling . In this sense, dewatering, understood as a method of reducing the volume of sludge, meets the requirements established by the National Policy on Solid Waste. Dewatering is characterized by the removal of free water, supernatant found in the interstices of solids, using natural or mechanical systems. Drainage beds, designated as LD and previously conceptualized as drying beds, are among these natural systems. Thus, the main objective of this study was to evaluate the efficiency and quality of sludge dewatering from an ETA that uses aluminum sulfate as a coagulant, with a fixed solids concentration of 2% applied to the LD system. For that, a bench scale LD prototype was used in order to simulate sludge dewatering, using three sludge layer heights (h=10, 30 and 50 cm) and two non-woven geotextiles as a filtering layer of mass. per unit area of 400 and 600 g/m2, named GTNT400 and GTNT600. These assays were conducted in triplicate and the stopping criterion established was 72 hours. The analyzes performed on the filtrate (apparent color, turbidity and pH) followed the methods recommended by APHA/AWWA/WEF (2001). It was also performed the moisture content (w) of the sludge and the mass retained in the geotextile (MR). The analysis of the results showed that lower solids application rates (TAS) removed water in a shorter time and the higher the hydraulic load, the longer the removal time. The GTNT600 showed the best behavior, promoting greater sludge removal, with an increase in free water drained and better quality of the drained. Higher heights (hydraulic loads) promoted an increase in drainage time.
