It used to be said that any tolerant who could stroll into a dental office was sufficiently sound to go through treatment. This is not, at this point valid (on the off chance that it at any point was), what's more, dental specialists today need a reference for the consideration of those patients with clinical issues. In its first release, Dr. Little's book made up for this shortcoming, and gave dental specialists and understudies a succinct, commonsense manual for this particular sort of care. The subsequent version incorporates refreshed data, and enhances what has become a definitive content.

I have a few persistent haemodialysis patients with objections of "dry mouth." They are not diabetic and are on no prescriptions related with this result. The side effect does not give off an impression of being identified with their volume status or to the dialytic treatment. Is this an autonomic or uremic manifestation? Should anything be possible remedially?

Aim: To assess the utilization of dental services and perception towards dental insurance among the Software professionals who are working in Chennai city. Materials and methods: A cross sectional questionnaire survey was conducted among 364 software professionals in Chennai city, to identify the utilization of dental services and their perception towards dental insurance policy. After reviewing the related articles, a questionnaire including demographic data, utilization pattern, and perception towards the Dental insurance were framed. In order to standardize and validate the questionnaire content Validity Index was used and Reliability test was done by test-retest method. Google forms were sent to the study subjects to collect information. Collected data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Chi-square test. Results: The software professionals were aware about the utilization of dental services, their last dental visit was 1-2 years ago (34%), their place of preference of dental treatment was to be private clinics (75%) and about (50%) of the participants preferred prevention of oral disease is as important than treatment. The major barrier for not utilizing dental service was to be fear in which female showed more fear for dental treatments. Their perception towards frequency of dental visits was found to be once in a year (32%). Regarding dental insurance perception the software professionals had very less knowledge about the benefits of dental insurance policy. Only 2.5% of them are using dental insurance offered by their company. Conclusion: The present study reveals that the software professionals are utilizing the dental services adequately. More than half of them have utilized dental services in the past two years, they have enough awareness about the dental importance and they prefer prevention is better than cure. But they have poor awareness regarding the benefits covered in their health insurance plans although they showed a positive attitude towards dental insurance plans. Only very few of them are benefitted by the dental insurance policy. Efforts should be taken to increase the awareness regarding dental insurance and their benefits.

Around 40 years prior during the 1950s (not long after WHO started its exercises), oral wellbeing was the subject of overseers' consideration along with other medical services programs. In those years, regardless of the presence of serious issues in transferable illnesses, ecological risks and wholesome insufficiencies which were WHO's primary goals, the Oral Health Program was set up to save, and to advance a worthy level of, oral wellbeing in populaces. It was when numerous wellbeing overseers understood that therapeutic dentistry was not a drawn out arrangement and a developing interest for preventive measures got clear. Endeavors were made to perceive the earnest issues and to foster an overall arrangement for avoidance and control of oral infections on an overall premise, instead of keep supporting an endless interest for traditionalist dental treatment.

Osteosarcomas are primary malignant bone tumors in which mesenchymal cells produce osteoid. It is generally the most common malignant bone neoplasm, although lesions of the jaw are uncommon. Osteosarcoma of the Jaw (JOS) presents a lower incidence of metastasis and a better prognosis than osteosarcoma of the long bones. However, patients with JOS can exhibit advanced tumors, mainly when early diagnosis is not performed. This article reports on a case of an advanced osteosarcoma of the mandible. A 16-year-old lady came for evaluation and treatment of lower jaw mass. The patient had been noticing loose teeth and progressively enlarging mass since 3 months. Computed tomography showed large heterogenous lesion measuring 8.4 × 6.8 cm arising from mandible with cortical destruction and periosteal reaction. She had undergone incisional biopsy which revealed ill circumscribed subepithelium tumor with alternating areas of chondromyxoid and fibrocellular components, foci of osteoid formation, areas of ischemia type of necrosis, abscess formation and established the diagnosis as osteosarcoma of bone chondroblastic type. The patient was then recommended for oncologic treatment with 2 cycles of pre-operative chemotherapy. She received 1 cycle NACT (adriamycin+cisplastin), but as the disease was progressing quickly, so she was referred to our centre and underwent surgery.

Introduction: Periodontal problems have taken top priority for treatment in patients suffering from periodontal diseases including gingival recession. This study aimed to compare Connective Tissue Graft (CTG) along with Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) versus Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) along with Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) in 40 sites of miller’s class I and II recession sites over a period of 3 years. Materials and methods: 40 bilateral Miller's class I and class II gingival recession cases were selected for the study and divided into two groups. Group A was treated with PRF and CAF whereas Group B was treated with CTG and CAF. Following clinical parameters i.e., change in recession depth, change in probing depth, change in clinical attachment level, change in width of keratinized gingiva were assessed at baseline 3, 6 and 36-months post-surgery. Results: 1. Group A showed root coverage of 71.00% whereas in Group B it was 83.33%. Group B subjects showed clinically higher and statistically significant amount of root coverage as compared to Group A. 2. Group B was associated with better clinical outcomes in terms of keratinized tissue gain. Conclusion: Current study concludes that CTG along with CAF is a better option for root coverage procedure as compared to PRF along with CAF.

This study aimed to compare Connective Tissue Graft (CTG) along with Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) versus Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) along with Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF) in 40 sites of miller’s class I and II recession sites over a period of 3 years. Materials and methods: 40 bilateral Miller's class I and class II gingival recession cases were selected for the study and divided into two groups. Group A was treated with PRF and CAF whereas Group B was treated with CTG and CAF. Following clinical parameters i.e., change in recession depth, change in probing depth, change in clinical attachment level, change in width of keratinized gingiva were assessed at baseline 3, 6 and 36-months post-surgery. Results: 1. Group A showed root coverage of 71.00% whereas in Group B it was 83.33%. Group B subjects showed clinically higher and statistically significant amount of root coverage as compared to Group A. 2. Group B was associated with better clinical outcomes in terms of keratinized tissue gain. Conclusion: Current study concludes that CTG along with CAF is a better option for root coverage procedure as compared to PRF along with CAF.","PeriodicalId":19556,"journal":{"name":"Oral health and dental management","volume":"44 1","pages":"8-10"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81430723","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
