The data link layer is used to transport the network layer's data from the source to the destination node safely. This paper designed and implemented the data link layer by the WIA-PA specification. It designed 5 events which can be triggered by a timer to implement the superframe, designed a reliable data communication method based on active timeslot table and an link transmitting queue, and achieved a time synchronization method from the point of reducing the energy consumption. The results of the experiment showed that the correct rate of data transmitting is better than 80%, and the accuracy of time synchronization is less than 1 microsecond. It met the industrial field requirement.

In the Wireless Communication, the multipath effects, Doppler shift, and power loss, causing by the dissemination environment, have always effected the high speed transportation of the data. On the other hand, the complexity and randomness of the wireless communication environment itself have also made the study of the wireless channel's simulation model very difficult. The Jakes model is an ideal simulation model of small-scale Rayleigh flat fading channels, and it can be realized by the superimposition of the limited LFO (low frequency oscillators). So, by the simulation of Doppler shift, the analysis of the multipath effects and taking the advantages of the Jakes model, we designed an ideal small-scale Rayleigh flat fading channel block on the SCILAB. The development of this block has not only improved the communication simulation library of the SCILAB, but also provided an effective environment of the channel for the closed-loop test of the wireless communication system. Meanwhile, the application of this channel block has also provided a reference platform for the test and construction of the wireless communication simulation system.

Fault diagnosis is of significant importance to the robustness of aeroengine control systems. This paper makes use of full-order unknown input observers (UIOs) to facilitate the diagnosis of sensor/actuator faults in engine control systems. The built-in “ui-observer” function in Scilab, however, can not give satisfying performance, in terms of observer realization. Hence we rewrite this UIO program in standard Scilab scripts and decouple the effect of unknown disturbances upon state estimation to improve the sensitivity to engine faults. An evaluation platform is created on the basis of the Xcos tool in a Simulink-like manner. All the above work is accomplished in the Scilab environment. Experimental results on an aircraft turbofan engine demonstrate that the suggested UIO diagnostic method has good anti-disturbance ability and can effectively detect and isolate sensor/actuator faults under various fault conditions.

The open-source software Player/Stage is widely used as a simulation tool for swarm robot systems. The installment and configuration of the Player/Stage platform are introduced firstly. After making sure the proper configuration of the simulation software by running sample script, four typical research scenarios of swarm robot are simulated on it, including Leader-Follower algorithm based swarm robot formation control scenario, distribution algorithm based swarm robot task allocation scenario, robot obstacle avoidance scenario and swarm robot scatter scenario. Simulation results show that various swarm robot scenarios can be realized on the Player/Stage and it is an efficient and economic open source simulation software platform for the research of swarm robot.

To satisfy high accuracy and speed requirement, a kind of Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) solution is proposed according to the complexity of Monitor Finishing Automatic Width Control (FAWC) system with large time-delay for hot strip mill. In order to improve the versatility of ADRC parameters, a unit gain was added in the loop. Based on the simplified model, the presented ADRC consists of linear functions which make it easier to realize. For applying ADRC algorithms conveniently and widely, the control system is implemented in Scilab/Xcos, which is one of an Open-source Software for Scientific Computation (OSSC) and is free of charge. According to the program of data exchanging between Xocs and Scilab, Xcos simulation can be carried out in batch processing in Scilab. The disturbances rejection and robustness of the proposed control method is verified by ADRC simulation toolbox in Scilab/Xcos.

The activities such as chatting, wiki, blogs, forums, audio, and video recording in online provide environment for very shy and reserved students, who can build their confidence and prepare themselves for face-to-face communication with native speakers. The authors propose course content template, a best learning prototype using moodle and propose environment to the communities for interactive learning process.

Nowadays, decision tree is widely used as one of the most powerful tools in data mining. However, to construct an optimization decision tree is a complete NP problem. So a new method about how to construct decision tree, which is based on association rule mining, is proposed in this paper. Firstly, approximate exact rule with high reliability is defined. Secondly new attributes are generated from the approximate exact rule. And then its evaluation method is discussed in detail. Thirdly, the decision tree is constructed with both the new generated attributes and its original data. Finally, after comprehensive analysis, experimental results show that this new method has higher accuracy than any other old method.

SCILAB as an open source software is now becoming more and more popular among students, engineers, and scientists. Its powerful computation and simulation function provide a great convenience for its users. But because of people's unfamiliarity about its internal formalism, there still come out some problems when people using it. This paper, based on the construction of the DES (Data Encryption Standard) System in SCICOS or XCOS, mainly studied the problem about the block's low computational efficiency which is because of the ignoring of the formalism of block's compute function, and provided a solution of improving the block's computational efficiency.
