An improved mean-shift moving object detection and tracking algorithm based on segmentation and fusion mechanism 一种改进的基于分割和融合机制的均值偏移运动目标检测与跟踪算法

The mean-shift moving object detection and tracking algorithm is an important technique for analyzing human motion. It is widely used in military defense, video surveillance, human-computer interaction, medical diagnostics as well as in commercial fields such as video games. However,the general mean-shift model does not perform well when dealing with serious occlusions. In this paper, an improved mean-shift moving object detection and tracking algorithm based on segmentation and fusion mechanism is proposed in order to address the occlusion problem. Firstly, the detection algorithm detects and extracts the target by processing a rectangular target input. Secondly, the mean-shift method of segmentation solves the sheltering problem. Finally, the fusion of weights of various segmentations is used to improve the tracking speed. Through fusion, several segment's information are integrated, which provides more space information. The experiments we carried out demonstrated that, the proposed algorithm not only improved the performance in sheltered or occluded cases, while not significantly increased the computation cost.

Optimization of nth order square linear controller in the realm of describing function approach for nonlinear multivariable square system 非线性多变量平方系统n阶平方线性控制器在描述函数方法中的优化

In this paper, the procedure to optimize the gains of a nth order square linear controller with respect to nonlinear multivariable square system is established. The optimization is conducted in time domain and frequency domain for closed loop and open loop system respectively. The developed procedure is demonstrated on an unstable multivariable robot arm. The analysis results show that the optimization is successful and the transient response of the nonlinear closed loop system is able to be improved in terms of overshoot and settling time.
本文建立了针对非线性多变量平方系统的n阶平方线性控制器的增益优化过程。对闭环系统和开环系统分别在时域和频域进行优化。并在不稳定多变量机械臂上进行了验证。分析结果表明,优化是成功的,非线性闭环系统的暂态响应在超调量和稳定时间方面得到了改善。

An intelligent off-line MPPT technique for PV applications 一种用于光伏应用的智能离线MPPT技术

Harnessing energy from the abundant and free sunlight is now a days a hot topic among the research community. The availability of cheap solar modules has made it possible to harvest solar energy with better efficiency. The nature of solar modules is non linear and therefore the process of impedance matching is essential. The proper impedance matching ensures extraction of the maximum power from solar PV module. Several algorithms are reported in literature that are used to operate the DC-DC converter around Maximum Power Point (MPP). Among those algorithms off-line techniques are considered the easiest to implement. However, intermittent measurement of Short Circuit Current (SCC)/Open Circuit Voltage (OCV) results in the power loss. The decision about the measurement of SCC/OCV is often based on the irradiance/temperature sensors. In this paper we propose a modified algorithm for off-line MPPT techniques. The proposed technique decides intelligently about the measurement of SCC/OCV. The technique is modeled and simulated in Matlab/Simulink and the results shows satisfactory performance against test conditions.

Implementation of FPGA based model predictive control for MIMO systems 基于FPGA的MIMO系统模型预测控制的实现

In conventional ways of fast responding and high performing model predictive control using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), the approaches developed are applicable only to Single Input Single Output System (SISO). Many real time systems are Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems and loop interaction is a major concern and has to be reduced in control of MIMO systems. Also, direct digital control with ability to solve the Quadratic Programming (QP) problem online, which can be applied to complex systems with fast response time and/or embedded applications and with limited computational resource for supervisory control approach, is required in many complex industrial MIMO systems. A novel direct digital control of Model predictive controller with FPGA for a MIMO system which considers and reduces loop interaction and which can also be implemented with very less investment is proposed here. The system was modeled from first principles and then simulated in Labview environment for MIMO system. Implementation of the system and response was verified for a stirred tank system. The proposed system has good performance in terms of reduction in loop interaction which is a major concern in implementation of controller for MIMO systems. Also, direct digital control of MIMO system instead of supervisory control was accomplished.

Novel petrinet and labview based approaches for automation of small scale soap industry with FPGA and comparative evaluation 基于FPGA的小型肥皂工业自动化的新型petrinet和labview方法及比较评价

This paper proposes novel approach for automation of small scale soap industry using dedicated Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Usually Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) are used in automation of soap industries. But FPGA's fast processing ability, synchronized signal generation, parallel reactive architecture, compactness and cost effective nature makes this logic device a better candidate than PLC. With small parameter variations in reconfigurable FPGA, different soaps of different qualities like color, transparency, softness, etc. can be manufactured. Two new approaches of automation of soap industry using FPGA with Petri net and LabVIEW is proposed. In addition, a comparative evaluation of the two proposed approaches is done based on the results.

Performance comparison of SO and ESO based RC 基于SO和ESO的RC性能比较

To regulate uncertainties in system dynamics and external disturbances, a robust controller is proposed for a plant with time-varying uncertainty. The design is based on the concept of extended state observer (ESO) with repetitive controller (RC). In real time estimation and mitigation of the total effect of various uncertainties, ESO based RC is particularly effective against a wide range of parameter variations, model uncertainties, and large disturbances. With only two tuning parameters, the controller provides a simple and user friendly solution to complex engineering problems in practice. The comparison results verified the effectiveness of the ESO based RC over state observer (SO) based RC.

Design and development of a low cost solar energy system for the rural area 农村地区低成本太阳能系统的设计与开发

Currently, solar energy has turned into a popular alternative energy source to meet certain demands around the world due to the instability of oil and coal prices with global warming issues. The aim of this paper is to develop of a simple and cost-effective solar system for the rural areas where grid electricity is not available. To fulfil this objective, a 5-Watt PV (photovoltaic) stand-alone solar module was used as solar power source and a common type lead acid battery (12V, 7AH) applied for backup system. The solar panel was connected to the battery via a charge controller which was responsible to pass the correct voltage for charging the battery and also, ensure that the battery was not overcharged. In addition, the system was designed for 22W AC and 12W DC loads. An inverter was designed for the AC loads which could convert the fixed DC voltage from battery to an AC output voltage. Finally, the entire system was tested successfully and cost evaluation also presented in the paper. This developed system will be effective for the poor people in the rural area those are deprived from the electricity as well as the conventional fuels being saved.

Robust compensation in the continuous domain using high frequency periodic controllers was proposed in [6] and its application to Cart-Inverted Pendulum system was demonstrated in [7]. Again, a method for robust compensation in discrete domain using 2-periodic controllers has been proposed in [11]. In this paper this 2-periodic controller is applied for robust compensation of the Cart-Inverted Pendulum system. The improvements in results (relative to linear-discrete-time-invariant (LDTI) controllers) are compared in simulation with the same obtained in [7].

Real-Time Monitoring System for Parking Space Management Services 车位管理服务实时监控系统

Real-Time Monitoring System for Parking Space Management Services is the evolution of traditional parking system that it does not only provide live information to users in order to make it easy for them to look for vacant parking lot, it also give authority to operators to monitor and perform simulations to illustrate the real parking system. The purpose of this project is to apply the principles of queue theory into parking system modeling. The queue system model enables the predictions of arrival and service time in the system through analysis and calculations. Aside of it, Graphical User Interface (GUI) is also designed and integrated into the parking system in order to allow parking zone operators to monitor the status of the parking lots and view the statistics of arrival rate, service time and so on. This project focuses on the system modeling and software development and implementation. It is expected that this project will be able to assist parking zone operators in designing their system that will work efficiently and generate high income. It will also provide convenience to the operators in managing the parking zone remotely. Users will also experience a time-saving and stress-free parking zone.

Implementation of intrusion detection system in CUDA for real-time multi-node streaming 基于CUDA的实时多节点流入侵检测系统实现

A common surveillance activity is to track important people, or people exhibiting suspicious behavior, as they move from one camera surveillance area to another. The reduction in video hardware cost has made it more feasible for large scale camera deployment. However, the increased scale of camera deployment creates difficulties for humans to track people through the monitored space and to recognize important events as they happen in timely manner without human intervention. In this paper we share the implementation of the multi node video analytics specifically focusing on intrusion detection. The system uses general purpose graphical processing unit (GPGPU) to offload the video analytics processing. The architecture of the GPGPU requires the algorithm to be coded in Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) which involves algorithm parallelization adopting both micro and macro parallelization to ensure the performance gain in processing speed on per frame basis by 7 times. In addition, we have managed to deploy 35 camera streams on single GPU card running at 20 frames per second which results in scalability factor of 1.75 times vs. a server class PC. Indeed, we have also managed to maintain the video analytics accuracy at 100% for given test dataset, in this implementation of the system.
