Experimental confirmation of the isotropy of the one-way propagation speed of light remains an enigma, notwithstanding numerous attempts over the course of a century to address it. The theory is presented for a new method, the CROWS method, to measure the one-way speed of light.

We obtain the regimes of the pump power, signal detuning, and signal frequency offset to achieve the optical parametric gain in silicon nitride ring cavities with both normal and anomalous dispersion. The conditions for the dual-pumped parametric oscillation including the thermo-optic effect are accordingly investigated.

Monitoring chlorine levels in water are crucial to prevent health risks in humans. This study investigated designing a sensitive FBG sensor to measure chlorine levels in water in ppm. The overall sensing mechanism provides advantages like; small features, high resolution, and sensing along the whole fiber length; the results were promising, and the sensor provided minimal chlorine levels detection in the water, with a detection range was between (1 -10) ppm, making it sufficient for the study.

We present a novel technique for attaching up to 8 fiber arrays to a photonic chip in a single shot in less than a minute. We demonstrate a minimum loss of −1.4dB and −1.5dB per facet with a +/−0.2dB and 0.0dB variation through 8-fiber and 4-fiber arrays, respectively.

We suggest a microscopic self-pulsing laser based on dispersive self-Q-switching that can generate short picosecond pulses at gigahertz repetition rates. Such a laser may find applications in on-chip integrated photonic circuits.

We demonstrate an optical frequency comb (OFC)-based supercontinuum for multi-band communication that can cover C-band as well as parts of S-band and L-band. It even achieves a flat-top using pulse shaping technique, and has a programmable repetition rate of up to 50 GHz.

Recently, the great economic and environmental interest for the production of the clean fuel hydrogen through water splitting is worldwide promoted, practically using 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), e.g., MoS2. In this study, we investigated the ultrafast carrier dynamics of MoS2 in air and liquid. Moreover, we also in situ probed the ultrafast carrier dynamics at 2D atomic layer MoS2/liquid electrolyte interface for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The several-picoseconds relaxation component in transient transmittance changes ($Delta T/T$) has been identified to indicate the catalytic activation time and shows the distribution of activation sites during HER.
