Health users' perception of biometric authentication technologies 健康用户对生物识别认证技术的认知

Biometric technologies already play a major role in security systems contexts and are generally considered for identification and authentication. Some techniques are used in several services not only to ensure physical access to facilities but also to provide some thoroughness in access control. Users generally show concern about security and privacy, but at the same time, wish to use simple mechanisms that facilitate the authentication process in a particular system. Altogether, when implementing such systems it should be guaranteed the purpose of implementation, data protection principles, usability and security, beside taking in consideration the national and international legislation and standards. This study addresses the perception of users regarding the use of biometric authentication technologies in a particular environment, healthcare units. The results derived from a survey indicate a trend of acceptance of such technologies on the access control to health services.

Prenatal observation of heart rate sequences presenting entropic analogies with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: Preliminary report 产前心率序列与婴儿猝死综合征的熵类比观察:初步报告

In the fetus, the hypoxic stimulation inhibits respiratory movements, while after the birth, it stimulates breathing. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) may result from a resurgence of the prenatal inhibiting circuit (Leiter, 2007). This study aims to compare the entropic evolutionary profile of the "Recurrent Elevated PatternA" (REPA) of fetal heart rate, to the one described in SIDS by Pincus during quiet sleep, the postnatal corresponding state of PatternA. Using an unselected 3000 fetal tracings database, a computer assisted visual analysis selected the 16 most typical REPA, compared to the 22 most stable PatternA (MSPA). The entropic study enabled to extract from each group a type of description corresponding to Pincus criteria: instable entropy with remarkable minima for REPA, and single centered regular entropy peak for MSPA. If confirmed, our findings may lead to a better evaluation of the fetal status and to a SIDS preventive protocol via a trans birth survey.

A virtual reality simulator combining a learning environment and clinical case database for image-guided prostate biopsy 结合学习环境和临床病例数据库的虚拟现实模拟器,用于图像引导前列腺活检

The recent availability of navigation systems for mapping and targeting of transrectal ultrasound (TRUSS) guided prostate biopsies revealed new opportunities in training the clinician. This paper describes a simulator for TRUSS guided prostate biopsy that offers similar information, enhanced by a complete learning environment. Various exercises have been developed in accordance with a didactical study identifying the training needs. A dedicated clinical case database fed by a prostate navigation system provides a large patient prostate image database that covers the main situations encountered during clinical practice. A haptic device is used to enable complete biopsy procedures or practice specific tasks. This paper also presents work in progress of the evaluation of such a simulator.

Evaluation of the use of computational intelligence techniques in medical claim processes of a health insurance company 评估在医疗保险公司的医疗索赔流程中使用计算智能技术

Brazil has one of the largest private healthcare markets in the world. However, it appears that many indicators of our health insurance companies (including consultations, tests, hospitalizations, etc.) are well above the established international standards. This indicates that many appointments and tests are being carried out without need, generating unnecessary costs on businesses and making the service offered more expensive. In this paper, computational intelligence techniques were used to model the behavior of medical reviewers - professionals who assess whether medical requests should be allowed or not. For the generation of knowledge, a database from a nonprofitable health insurance company containing more than one million records collected since the year 2007 was used. Promising experimental results are presented, indicating that the techniques used can support medical reviewers.

Heart rate and ventricular repolarization variabilities interactions modification by microgravity simulation during head-down bed rest test 平躺卧床试验中微重力模拟对心率和心室复极变异性相互作用的影响

Features extracted from heart rate variability (HRV) have allowed to classify several cardiac disorders. In this work, the linear relationship between HRV and ventricular repolarization variability is studied as a possible feature for stratifying risk of cardiac arrhythmias under weightlessness conditions. Three VR beat-to-beat indexes extracted from ECG signals as QT, QTp (QRS onset to T wave peak) and Tpe (peak to end of T wave) were measured. ARARX modeling was used to estimate the VR variability fraction driven by HRV. Head down bed rest as microgravity Earth-based test increased the linear dependency of VR variability driven by HRV. Furthermore, in a pairwise comparison between PRE and POST conditions showed significant differences (p-values <; 0.05) for Tpe variability contents. These results evidence a reduced recovery capacity for the Tpe re-polarization variability to restore its linear dependency values to HR in the first moments at the end of BR.

Telenursing in colorectal cancer patient follow-up and treatment assessment: A mixed methods evaluation study 远程护理在结直肠癌患者随访及治疗评估中的应用:一项混合方法评价研究

The incidence of colorectal cancer cases in the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Porto created the need of a telenursing program in the Gastro-Intestinal Cancer Unit. After staging, treatment may involve surgery radio and chemotherapy (either oral or IV). Patients with no treatment after surgery are scheduled for medical exams every 3 months in the first 2 years. Patients on chemotherapy need to be compliant and to have a close monitoring of adverse events. The GI Cancer Unit uses a telenursing information system to help assess colorectal cancer patients' follow-up after surgery, medical treatment compliance and adverse events. A mixed-methods evaluation was done to a) describe the target population, b) detect problems in the telenursing information system, and c) suggest changes to meet users' requirements. From 181 outbound phone calls, representing 67 patients (49 in treatment and 18 in follow-up), patients' main characteristics were extracted and system's problems were identified by the intervening nurses. Recommendations will be useful for a further development of the system.

A cryptographic approach for monitoring patients with mild cognitive impairment and dementia 一种用于监测轻度认知障碍和痴呆患者的密码方法

Modern technological advances have enabled us to improve the quality of our lives, increasing the life expectancy as well, in almost every developed country. Therefore, a big part of the population, has reached older age. As a result, mild cognitive impairment and several types of dementia, are becoming a serious problem. Apart from medical care solutions, others are proposing modern technology based solutions. Patients are using geolocation devices, allowing tracing in case they have an accident, get lost or simply disoriented. Nevertheless, in the first stages cognitive impairment is not so dangerous, so patients have a high degree of autonomy. Forcing them to carry such devices, surely invades their privacy. This work proposes a novel, more privacy-aware method for sharing patient's information, using cryptographic primitives.

Region-based active contours for computer-aided analysis of carotid Phase Contrast MRI 颈动脉相衬MRI计算机辅助分析的基于区域的活动轮廓

Phase-Contrast (PC) velocimetry MRI is a useful modality to explore cardiovascular pathologies, but requires the automatic segmentation of vessels. In this paper, we evaluate the ability of region-based active contours to efficiently segment carotid vessels, compared to traditionnal edge-based active contours considered in related works. Experiments are performed using both a sequence of a homemade phantom and a sequence of a patient carotid which has been manually analyzed by a radiologist expert. Results obtained on phantom sequence show that the edge-based approach leads to an underestimate of carotid lumen area and related flows of respectively 18.4 % and 3.6 %. Impact of SVM multiclass decomposition rules for recognition of cancer in gastroenterology images 支持向量机多类分解规则对消化道肿瘤图像识别的影响

In this work we study the impact of a set of bag-of-features strategies for the recognition of cancer in gastroen-terology images. By using the SIFT descriptor, we analyzed the importance and performance impact of term weighting functions for the construction of visual vocabularies. Further analyzes were conducted in order to ascertain the robustness of multiclass decomposition rules for Support Vector Machines with different kernels. Our study was extended by tailoring a decomposition rule that explores prior knowledge according the four grades of the Singh taxonomy (SDR). We found that SDR coupled with a frequency term weight function attained the best overall results (80%) when trained with an intersection kernel. It also outperformed standard decomposition rules when using a χ2 kernel and attained competitive performances with a linear kernel.

OpenEHR-based pervasive health information system for primary care: First Brazilian experience for public care 基于开放式电子病历的初级保健普及卫生信息系统:巴西首次公共保健经验

Introduction: The Brazilian Ministry of Health declared openEHR as the reference model for the definition of electronic health records (EHR). Aims: To unveil the issues related to the development and implementation of an openEHR-based pervasive HIS in a Brazilian public health primary care unit. Methods and preliminary results: They are divided into five subsections (analysis of physical infrastructure and computational resources, Modelling the Problem, Software Design and Information Security). Expected Results: We expect to implement a HIS based on an open source architecture, validated and aligned with evolving clinical content, economically viable and scalable considering future plans of physical structure's expansion. Conclusions: This pionner project can be a reference to further implementations and scientic studies.
