Glucose concentration in the aqueous solution was measured using a microwave metamaterial sensor based on the modified Hilbert curve of the first fractal order. In order to increase the system sensitivity at fixed meta-element sizes, the design of the sensor was optimized by using finite element method. It was observed that $ S $ parameters of the metamaterial microstrip line sensor at resonant frequencies strongly depend on the glucose concentration. Consequently, by measuring the microwave responses for the different concentrations one can detect the glucose concentration in the solution. Such structure can be useful in the biological and medical applications.

In this work we study the influence of hydrodynamic flows on the optical properties of hybrid aligned nematic liquid crystals (NLC) structure caused by direct volume expansion mechanism for the case, when the direction of flow velocity is perpendicular to the angular distribution of the molecules in the cell. It has been shown that the hydrodynamic flow leads to reorientation of NLC molecules. The behavior of the polarized light passing through the NLC layer for two opposite directions of the flow was observed.

The detection and recognition of objects in images has found a wide application in many spheres. It is used in the surveillance system, cartography, robotics, medicine, etc. In many surveillance systems the localization of the detected object has a great significance. After localizing the object, it will be possible to carry out the calculation of its coordinates. The formulas for calculating the object-camera distance are rather theoretical. Conducting experiments and verifying formulas in practice would have a high significance, as the distance of the object from camera is an essential precondition for object’s coordinate calculation.

In this paper the effect of donor impurity on the Aharonov–Bohm oscillations of the electronic states in a double quantum ring with Gaussian confinement has been studied. Three different impurity positions: namely in the inner ring, in the outer ring and in the barrier between the rings, have been considered. It is shown that the energies of the two lowest states are almost constant, while for the higher levels the Aharonov–Bohm oscillations are observed. The obtained results indicate on the possibility of the effective control of the quantum states by means of donor impurity and external magnetic field.

$In~vivo$ effect of non thermal millimeter electromagnetic waves (MEMWs) with $50.3~GHz$ (which coincides with resonant frequencies of oscillations of water molecular structures) and $48.3~GHz$ (which does not coincide with resonant frequencies) frequencies on DNA primary and secondary structures of liver of healthy rats as well as Sarcoma-45 tumor carrying rats has been studied. It was shown, that under the effect of MEMWs with $50.3~GHz$ during $60~min$, the content of 5-methylcitosine, the melting parameters of DNA of Sarcoma-45 tumors changed and approached to respective values of DNA extracted from the liver of healthy animals.

In the paper $K$-groups of $C^*$-subalgebras of the Toeplitz algebra generated by inverse subsemigroups of the bicyclic semigroup are discussed. For these algebras inductive limit of inductive sequence of $K$-groups, which are generated by the corresponding inductive sequence of $C^*$-algebras is constructed.
