Objective: to compare the effectiveness of an educational intervention mediated by a booklet with verbal nursing guidelines in improving sleep quality in older adults.

Method: this is a randomized, single-blind clinical trial, carried out with 126 older adults, of which 62 were allocated in group 1, who received health education using an educational booklet, and 64 in group 2, who were exposed to health education with verbal nursing guidelines. Sleep quality was verified by the Pittsburgh Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale and variable minutes that it takes to sleep. In order to compare the pre and post-tests, within the group, the Wilcoxon and chi-square tests were used. Status change was assessed using McNemar's chi-square test. To compare groups, Mann-Whitney and chi-square were used. The significance level was 5%.

Results: older adults in both groups showed improvement in sleep quality (p > 0.05) after the interventions. There was no statistically significant difference between the interventions.

Conclusion: the educational intervention mediated by a booklet and verbal nursing guidelines were equally effective in improving older adults' sleep quality. RBR-993xf7.

RBR-993xf7。

Objective: To analyze the knowledge of Primary Education teachers regarding asthma and learn about their experiences with the exacerbation of symptoms at school.

Method: Sequential explanatory mixed study. In the quantitative stage, the Newcastle Asthma Knowledge Questionnaire and the characterization instrument were applied. Data analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The production of qualitative data occurred from written statements analyzed using the deductive content analysis method.

Results: Two hundred and seven teachers, mostly women (92%) and working in public schools (82%). As for knowledge, 132 (63.8%) had unsatisfactory performance. The questions with the lowest rates of correct answers were about medications used regularly and during the attacks. Teachers with higher scores had less time in the occupation (p = 0.017) and had been diagnosed with asthma (p = 0.006). In the qualitative stage, 35 teachers participated and the statements corroborated the quantitative findings, especially in relation to the knowledge gap and feeling of greater safety among asthmatic teachers.

Conclusion: Teachers showed insufficient knowledge and reported fear and unpreparedness in the face of the situation.

Objective: To analyze the continuity of care for children with chronic conditions from the transition from hospital to home.

Method: Parallel-convergent mixed-methods research, with a cross-sectional study and Grounded Theory. A characterization instrument and the Care Transitons Measure were applied to 201 legal guardians of children with chronic conditions, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 35 participants (among professionals and guardians). Data were combined by integration.

Results: The efforts of the hospital team to promote continuity of care after discharge from the transition from hospital to home impact on the quality-of-care transition perceived by caregivers, with a mean of 89.5 (standard deviation = 12.5) points. However, the absence of formal mechanisms to guide the transition of care makes it difficult to achieve continuity of care in the health network.

Conclusion: Continuity of care for children is hindered by barriers, against which hospital care professionals seek individual strategies to overcome them. It is essential to establish institutional actions and public policies aiming at the transition of care to promote continuity of care.

Objective: To analyze the the vulnerabilities to illnesses in women living on the border of the Guiana Shield mines: Brazil, French Guiana, and Suriname.

Method: Descriptive, exploratory field study with a qualitative approach. Data collection took place with 19 women who were living in the mining context, in April 2018. The interviews were recorded and transcribed in full and subsequently analyzed in the light of the concept of vulnerability.

Results: Women aged between 30 and 39 years, predominantly black and brown, on a common-law marriage, multiparous, of low level of education, and with work activities related to mining. Three empirical categories emerged: Exposure to environmental and life conditions in the mines: vulnerabilities to illnesses in women; Sexual and reproductive health in the context of borders: the invisibility between legality and illegality; Gendered facets of violence in the mines on the border of the Guiana Shield.

Conclusion: Vulnerability is marked in the three dimensions of the concept: in the difficult access to health services, in the discontinued treatment, and in the disparity in health policies within countries, which are important aspects of vulnerability and health conditions.

Objective: To analyze epidemiological surveillance actions for people with cancer based on the perspective of advocacy.

Method: Qualitative study, Convergent Care Research type, combined with the framework of health advocacy. It was carried out in the Epidemiological Surveillance of the Health Department of a municipality in the southern region of Brazil.

Results: Eleven health service professionals participated in the study, from June 2020 to July 2021, making up 14 group meetings. Two aspects were discussed: (1) problems involving the management of the work process in the network services, directly influencing user assistance; and (2) issues related to the training management of the professional who works at these services, where the lack of knowledge regarding the legislation leads to serious consequences for the users.

Conclusion: The advocacy strengthened health defense concepts and ideas, mobilizing actions related to cancer, acting as a bridge between the members of the group and the sectors holding power to change circumstances that prevent compliance with public policies and current legislation.

Objective: To analyze the implications of COVID-19 in the monitoring of health and cardiovascular diseases in health services.

Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, survey-type study with 798 adults, selected by snowball on social networks, between June and July 2020. Data were collected in an electronic form validated for this study.

Results: There was a negative impact on monitoring health and cardiovascular diseases with missed appointments and elective exams. Symptoms such as chest pain and hypertensive crisis were neglected due to fear of contagion, lack of knowledge or structural lack of services, in addition to impaired monitoring of chronic conditions.

Conclusion: The severity of results is noted considering the COVID-19 progression and the risk of complications. It is necessary to organize flows and structures compatible with each care profile, in health services, to guarantee care and promote diagnosis and control of chronic conditions in the set of actions to contain pandemics. It is crucial to prioritize primary care in health follow-ups during pandemic periods, as this has a direct impact on the progression of critical conditions at other levels of care.
