Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) is an important preparatory operation in the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) in Taiwan. It is a required military course and integrates a great volume of information in an intuitive and comprehensible manner. With the rapid advancement in digital technology, information integration and application have become easier. This study therefore offers a dynamic information visualization approach to improve IPB in army education for enhancing the cognitive ability as well as situation awareness of military personnel during intelligence preparation for battlefield. The current study investigates the effects of dynamic information visualization on cognitive ability. The research design adopts part of the Battlefield Analysis model to visualize military information and data as images. In addition, the images were combined with animation to create a dynamic effect. Two groups of military trainees, each with 12 professional personnel with commander experiences, participated in the evaluation of the improved IPB illustrations to assess the experimental outcomes. Results showed that dynamic information visualization enhanced information understanding in different military situations and enhanced focus during the course without any increase in cognitive load. The study proved dynamic visualization information as an effective mechanism for integrating military information for operation and strategic action during battles.

Since its inception, the demand for high technology in teaching learning is escalating. Presumably, a demand emerges in assessing students' achievement by using technology. In language teaching learning, it is undeniable that the technology is also applied in assessing students' language skills including writing. In assessing writing, in a common type, the process is carried out manually or typed in a word document. Based on the results, this research aims to explain the development of an integrated multimedia website for assessing writing and the potential of using the website for writing test. Questionnaires were distributed to 28 students joining English Professional Course at BINUS Online Learning to evaluate the promptness of the website for the test and the students' sense of the website functionality. The result denoted that the website contribution is well-equipped to use as a tool and to test the writing skill. Moreover, the users were comfortable to exert it for undertaking the writing test. Equally important, the developments on the website require continuous improvement, especially for the variation of the questions including to add video and audio integration eventually.

The potential of the student-generated question (SGQ) strategy on enhancing students' learning has been evidenced. However, the SGQ task may overload students, thus, its educational benefits may be reduced. Therefore, this study, grounded on the collaborative learning theory, proposed a design of collaborative SGQ to avoid students being overloaded by the SGQ task. Specifically, a web-based collaborative SGQ work-space was developed to engage students in the activity of composing questions collaboratively. The user experience testing was conducted using qualitative research approach with supporting quantitative data. The results supported its design and perceived benefits in enhancing the quality of the question. Recommendation on future research is provided.

In e-Learning, the flip blended learning model is commonly used to provide students with learning contents inside/outside classrooms. It encourages students to preview learning contents at their own pace outside classrooms before the class lesson. Thereafter, various learning activities are taken inside classrooms in the lesson with instructions/helps from the teacher. An important issue about the preview is its effectiveness because it affects afterwards the subsequent learning activities in the lesson. In addition, for an ePUB3 eBook-based flip blended learning model, ePUB3 eBooks are used in the model and hence the embedded ePUB3 track and test functions in these eBooks can be applied for tracking the preview accesses on these eBooks and examining the preview outcomes. As such, the teacher is able to capture the preview effectiveness (by checking these accesses and their relationships with the test outcomes) for making adequate actions on the subsequent lesson activities. In this paper, we explore such an effectiveness study on the preview of learning contents via ePUB3 track and test functions in an ePUB3 eBook-based flip blended learning model.

Recently, flipped learning has been attracting as an alternative teaching and learning method for university education. The purpose of this study is to propose flipped learning as an effective review method overcoming forgetting curve. This study is also aimed to provide empirical evidence for the effect of flipped learning in terms of both self-efficacy and academic performance. Three research questions guided the study: 1) Is there a difference in self-efficacy between traditional lecture style classroom and flipped classroom? ;2) Is there a difference in academic performance between traditional and flipped classroom? ; 3) If so, what is the main factor of the improvement? In this paper, a model of flipped learning supported by LMS is designed to allow students to practice 4 times of review methods while students follow the process of flipped learning of pre-, in- and post- class and reviewing as a self-directed learning.

Online teacher plays a pivotal role in online education; this study explored the development of online teachers from psychological dimension. The mechanism of career adaptability, job insecurity, and work engagement of online teachers (N=299) was examined. The results indicated that career adaptability related positively to work engagement, negatively to job insecurity; job insecurity partially mediated the relationship between career adaptability and work engagement; moreover, employability moderated the relationship between career adaptability and job insecurity. When facing the same situation and work stress, online teachers who have higher level of career adaptability will be more engaged in work with lower level of job insecurity. This result provides a theoretical guidance for practicing and enhancing online teachers' work engagement.

E-Learning is becoming one of the most effective training approaches. In particular, the blended learning is considered a useful methodology for supporting and understanding students and their learning issues. Thanks to e-Learning platforms and their collaborative tools, students can interact with other students and share doubts on certain topics. However, teachers often remain outside of this process and do not understand the learning problems that are in their classrooms. A solution for ensuring the privacy of communication among students could be the adoption of a Sentiment Analysis methodology for the detection of the classroom mood during the learning process. In this paper, we investigate the adoption of a probabilistic approach based on the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) as Sentiment Grabber. The proposed approach can detect the mood of students on the various topics and teacher can better tune his/her teaching approach. The proposed method has been tested in real cases with effective and satisfactory results.

There have been many studies in analyzing the constant changes of culture but there has been none that focuses on the shifting of cultural allusion as well as the affecting variables. Furthermore, there have also been fewer studies on relating this phenomenon with neither the gaming culture nor its potential significance. For this research, the researcher utilizes an online survey consisting of randomly several iconic video games characters along with each given four references (from gaming culture perspective to common definitions) for the random online respondents to choose from. There are ten characters that are filtered into five highest frequency characters which are collectively filtered and then are analyzed comprehensively regarding the background of the character's appearance and other potential reason of whether this paradigm has indeed influence the shifting in cultural allusion. In the spectrum of applied computing and culture, this study has proven that iconic video game characters, at least those who have been appearing in several titles or media, have the tendency to influence the shifting in cultural allusion within the gaming culture society, and in broader sense, the human culture as well.

The research is to find the increasing of democratic attitude in Civics learning through role play method. This research was implemented at MI AL Muhajirien Jalan Permai Bekasi with 40 students as subject of research. This is an action research by using Kemmis and Taggart model in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The qualitative result of this action research showed that democratic attitude of students can increase the student's personality with good character and the implementation of role play method made students happy and active. In other side, the quantitative result showed the increasing of percentage poll from 55% to 68% in cycle I and become 92.5% in cycle II. In both cycles, students achieved the minimum mastery criteria. The observation result of activity of role play method for both teacher and students in cycle II achieved 100% of mastery learning. Finally, from both qualitative data and quantitative data indicate that Civic learning activities by using role play method can increase the democratic attitude of student.
