The identification of influencing factors in crop yield (kg·ha) provides essential information for decision-making processes related to the prediction and improvement of productivity, which gives farmers the opportunity to increase their income. The current study investigates the application of multiple machine learning algorithms for cocoa yield prediction and influencing factors identification. The Support Vector Machines (SVM) and Ensemble Learning Models (Random Forests, Gradient Boosting) are compared with Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regression models. The considered predictors were climate conditions, cocoa variety, fertilization level and sun exposition in an experimental crop located in Rionegro, Santander. Results showed that Gradient Boosting is the best prediction alternative with Coefficient of determination (R) = 68%, Mean Absolute Error (MAE) = 13.32, and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) = 20.41. The crop yield variability is explained mainly by the radiation one month before harvest, the accumulated rainfall on the harvest month, and the temperature one month before harvest. Likewise, the crop yields are evaluated based on the kind of sun exposure, and it was found that radiation one month before harvest is the most 1 Ph. D. In the present paper, the residues of the plantain starch extraction process are proposed as an adsorbent to remove Cr (VI) in a continuous fixed bed-system, varying the temperature in 33, 40, 55, 70 y 76 °C and bed height in the range of 15.5, 30, 65, 100, 114.5 mm. The adsorbent material was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray Diffraction Analysis (XRD). The Cr (VI) solution at 100 ppm had contact with the column by gravity, with a flow rate of 0.75 mL/s at the different working conditions. At the end of the process, the residual concentration of the metal was measured by UV-Vis spectroscopy using the standard method for the determination of Cr (VI) in water ASTM D1687-17. From the results, it was established that the bioadsorbent has the presence of hydroxyl, carboxyl and methyl functional groups and that the adsorption process is controlled by electrostatic interactions; the variables evaluated had a significant influence on the process because applying the RSM methodology it was observed that the 1 M. In this work, three types of activated carbons were evaluated as electrodes in the anode chamber of a two-chamber microbial fuel cell (MFC). The evaluation was applied using a pure Shewanella Putrefaciens culture due to its gram-negative characteristics. In the cathode chamber, a platinum electrode was used, and a Nafion® 117 proton exchange membrane was selected as a separator of both chambers. The activated carbons were obtained from different precursors (coffee husk, commercial coal, and mineral coal), with different microporous and surface properties. From the voltage and current measurements, it was found that the cell power values varied between 0.008 mW and 0.045 mW. The electrode obtained from chemical activation of coffee husk with H3PO4 at 450 °C (Q) showed the best electrochemical behaviour and highest power values. This result may be mainly related to the macroscopic morphology and mesopores that improve the wettability of the surface by the medium thought carbonaceous material. SEM images showed a better biofilm formation, larger filaments of the bacteria, and micro-beds formation over the surface of bio-anode Q, which improved the interaction with the 1 Ph. D. Biosolids generated as waste from a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WTP) are a pollution problem by the provision of large volumes in landfills and the waste of their potential as an agricultural input. The research conducted trials to analyze the agricultural use of biosolids in a food company's WTP, their effects on the germination and development of the vegetal plant species Coriandrum sativum were assessed through trials that mixed different amounts of biosolids, land soil and commercial fertilizer, and took into account: planting site characteristics, biosolid and Coriandrum sativum. A random block design was made to compare treatments understudy and resulted in the combination of 50% biosolids with 50% land soil was the best test by germination, height, mass and length of the roots of the plant studied. In the evaluation of results, the behavior of dependent variables was analyzed: germination, height, mass and length with respect to the four test types with their respective repetitions using ANOVA and Fisher's significant minimum difference (LSD) to determine the effect the biosolid had on the plant and to know the optimal dose for its development. The germination rate (GR) was also determined in the trials, and 98.3% was found for the best treatment indicating that the substrate does not contain phytotoxic elements.
