Design of broadband ESPAR antenna using inverted F monopoles 利用倒F单极子的宽带ESPAR天线设计

A low-cost, low-power smart antenna with broad bandwidth is presented in this paper. To achieve the beamforming, the structure of an electronically steerable parasitic array radiator (ESPAR) is adopted. The proposed ESPAR antenna comprises of a monocone antenna as the driven element at the center of the ground plane surrounded by six inverted F monoples antennas (IFAs) as parasitic elements. IFA antennas are employed for reducing the size and cost of antenna. To realize electronic beam steering, six PIN diodes are loaded at the bottom of the parasitic elements. By switching the PIN diodes, the antenna main beam can be steered in the horizontal plane across a range from 0° from 360°. The main aspects of antenna implementation are interpreted and the simulations results obtained from electromagnetic (EM) field simulation software are presented and discussed.

Coupling of plasmonic gap waveguides with directive antennas 等离子间隙波导与定向天线的耦合

Optical nanocouplers matching a fiber microwaveguide to a plasmonic nanowaveguide are essential components for practical applications of nanophotonic systems. In this paper, an efficient nanocoupler operating at optical frequencies is designed that uses a directive nanoantenna to maximize the coupling efficiency (CE). Despite the reduced size of the nanoantenna in comparison with the impinging fiber spot size, we have shown that a good efficiency can be achieved, improving the CE by a factor of 10 with respect to the nondirective antenna nanocouplers.

Novel method to measure the gain of UHF directional antennas using distance scan 利用距离扫描测量超高频定向天线增益的新方法

A novel antenna gain measurement method is described which uses power transfer values that are measured while varying the distance between two antennas (Distance Scan). It can be executed with simple means and is cost-effective. The Distance Scan method yields derived free space antenna gain values if a calibrated reference antenna is used and can be combined with the Three Antenna Method to obtain absolute antenna gain values. The method is demonstrated with the antenna gain measurement of three 12 element Yagi-Uda antennas and two 15 element Log-Periodic Dipole Antennas (LPDA's) on 8 frequencies. The measurement results of the LPDA's are compared with values obtained by external calibration, confirming the validity of this method.

A direct hierarchical multilevel preconditioner for the solution of finite element-boundary integral equations 有限元边界积分方程解的直接分层多阶预调节器

Boundary integral (BI) equations in combination with fast solvers such as the multilevel fast multipole method are very well suited for solving electromagnetic scattering and radiation problems. In order to consider dielectric objects, the BI approach can be extended to the hybrid finite element-boundary integral (FE-BI) method. By using hierarchical higher order basis functions for the expansion of the unknowns, very accurate results can be obtained. To accelerate the convergence of iterative solvers, the usage of preconditioning methods is indispensable. In this work, a very efficient multilevel preconditioner is presented which is based on a factorization of the submatrices containing the interactions of the zeroth order divergence-conforming basis functions in the BI formulation and the corresponding lowest order curl-conforming basis of the FE method. Moreover, it is shown that the number of fill-ins can be effectively reduced by exploiting advanced reordering algorithms.

Atmospheric turbulences cause fast fading of the free space optical links. This document shows our first experimental results of measurement of the structure parameter of refractivity index Cn2 and its relation to free space optical attenuation on two wavelengths (830 nm and 1550 nm). Comparison with theoretical formula is also presented.

Spectrum options for wireless backhaul of small cells 小型小区无线回程的频谱选择

Small cells need to be deployed in many environments ranging from rural where wireless spectrum usage is light to dense urban where wireless spectrum usage is intense. But all small cells, especially those with LTE and WiFi, need hundreds of megabits per second of very low latency backhaul to fully support their access capabilities. In an ideal world, the backhaul would be optical fiber to every small cell base station, to give massive capacity and low latency. In the real world, fiber is frequently impractical and wireless backhaul becomes a necessity. For these situations, a key question for those deploying small cells is what wireless spectrum options should be used to provide fiber-equivalent backhaul in various deployment scenarios? This presentation will address this question, in particular for the North American environment.

Pulse shape distortion in closed-waveguide axial modal signal transfer — An analytic time-domain study 闭波导轴向模态信号传输中的脉冲形状畸变-时域分析研究

An analytic time-domain study is presented for the pulse shape distortion associated with the axial modal signal transfer in a closed waveguide consisting of homogeneous, isotropic, lossy material and an electrically perfectly conducting wall. The results provide the basis for the construction of a digital signal deconvolution algorithm that serves to reconstruct the pulse shapes of monostatic, or multistatic, radar returns arising from the irradiation with a pulsed field whose pulse shape is dedicated to extract, from a detected target's return, information about its dimensions and shape.

Inset-fed liquid metal patch antenna 插入式液态金属贴片天线

The paper presents the inset-fed liquid metal patch antenna with a non-contact excitation. The antenna is a classical rectangular patch operating at 2.4 GHz designed to facilitate its fabrication via injection molding technology using the flexible silicon elastomer (PDMS) and non-toxic liquid metal (Galinstan). The impact of the microfluidic channel structure (i.e. posts arrangement) on the antenna performance is investigated numerically via comparison of three patch antennas with different post layouts.

The antenna is a classical rectangular patch operating at 2.4 GHz designed to facilitate its fabrication via injection molding technology using the flexible silicon elastomer (PDMS) and non-toxic liquid metal (Galinstan). Experimental investigations of an omni-directional dielectric resonator antenna for UWB systems 超宽带系统全向介质谐振器天线的实验研究

In this paper, a new dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) is presented and investigated for ultra wideband (UWB) applications. The UWB antenna has a U-shape and excited by a microstip fed monopole. The proposed antenna was simulated and designed using two electromagnetic simulators. To validate our design, a prototype antenna was fabricated and measured. From the measurements, the U-shaped DRA has a 117.6% impedance bandwidth (from 2.94 GHz to 11.34 GHz, for return loss below -10 dB, largely covering the UWB spectrum band). Moreover, the proposed antenna provides an omni-directional radiation pattern. With these features, the present antenna can be used in ultra-wideband wireless systems.
