Motion compensated multimode video coding for noisy channels 噪声信道的运动补偿多模视频编码

Images with rapid motion are more or less degraded at low bit rate transmission. Hence a motion compensation technique is implemented to improve the coding efficiency. Performance in terms of bit rate is compared between motion compensated and nonmotion-compensated multimode video coding. Multimode video coding optimizes the tradeoff between the conflicting objectives of high compression ratio and error resilience.

User's requirements for electronic program guide (EPG) in interactive television (iTV) 互动电视(iTV)用户对电子节目单(EPG)的要求

Although the electronic program guide (EPG) is not any more a "novelty" there are still different concepts about the applications and technical implementation of EPG. Such variations raises not only the question of compatibility between different vendors of EPG systems, but cause confusion to consumers: which system is most suitable to viewers and what are the criteria for suitability of an iTV-EPG system (containing EPG) for viewers. Some of the offered or proposed EPGs are reviewed. By marking their outstanding properties we have presented some EPG core features, important to users. We also give some opinions about the form and type of EPG "content" delivered to users and the functionality of the GUI (graphic user interface).

Robust generation of 360/spl deg/ panoramic views from consumer video sequences 从消费者视频序列稳健生成360/spl度/全景视图

This paper presents an algorithm for generation of 360/spl deg/ panoramic views from consumer video sequences. The robust approach considers the limited quality and the various distortions that such material usually contains. In a first stage the focal length of the camera is estimated from estimated warping parameters of the planar perspective motion model. Then the images are projected onto a cylinder surface and the amount of rotation of each image is estimated using a gradient descent algorithm. The presented results prove the suitability and accuracy of the algorithm.

DVB-MHP transport stream generator DVB-MHP传输流发生器

We present superficially a software tool - a DVB-MHP (digital video broadcasting multimedia home platform) compliant transport stream generator /sub e/signed to be part of the testbed of an MHP decoder prototype. The tool was implemented partially making use of XML technology and the software reuse philosophy (freely-distributed parsers and tools) that, in a sense, goes with this special syntax.

Deployment of wavelet transform to VOP codec scheme 小波变换在VOP编解码器中的应用

The work explains the way we deploy the wavelet transform in the object-based video codec scheme proposed in our previous research (see Tran, S.M. et al., J. Commun. and IT Sciences Association, vol.LVI, no.4, 2001). Video objects are first extracted from a conventional frame-based video sequence. By representing the video objects of interest with the so-called constrained Delaunay mesh structures, we could transmit their shapes and patterns in an efficient way: mesh-nodes are tracked forward to reconstruct their new position and therefore their shape at the latter time point; the pattern of the mesh is predicted from the dense field of backward motion vectors, then they are compensated with residual errors for a "perfect" reconstruction. In the current work, the wavelet transform is applied to encode residual errors, the most bit-consuming information. Thanks to the multiresolution character of the wavelet transform, which leads to superior energy compaction and perceptual quality of the decompressed residual errors, the method surpasses the compression offered by the block-DCT in the initial phase. The overall performance of the full scheme is encouraging.

Single-board wavelet video compression/decompression unit 单板小波视频压缩/解压单元

The system described is based on the wavelet video compression/decompression method, implemented on a single board and tailored for real-time work. Different bit-rates are supported in the full-duplex mode and in the range from 8-50 Mbit/s. The specific solution of the internal DMA transfer between the compressor/decompressor and the transmission FIFO buffers is described. Some considerations on the constant bit-rate implementation are given. An example for a live video transmission on an SDH loop is shown.

Scalable video coding in network applications 网络应用中可扩展的视频编码

Streaming video over packet networks is considered a joint source/channel coding problem, where the necessity of real-time delivery, bandwidth constraints, and error resilience determine the design parameters for the video transmission system. The objective of video coding for network applications is changed to optimising the video quality over a given bit rate range instead of at a given bit rate. Meeting bandwidth requirements and maintaining acceptable image quality simultaneously is a challenge. This paper provides an overview of scalable video coding methods.

Adaptive interface for hypermedia applications 超媒体应用程序的自适应接口

In the paper a concept for adaptive construction of the user interfaces of multiplatform hypermedia applications is presented. The user interface is becoming the crucial element of every information system and as the users as well as platforms are very differentiated it is difficult to construct a single equally efficient interface for all of these cases. Adaptive interfaces with social perspective could offer a possible solution to this problem.

Implementing digital video into time line based authoring environments 在基于时间线的创作环境中实现数字视频

In the paper we discuss and present a multimedia tutorial covering approaches in digital video implementation into an authoring tool based on time line authoring. First a short overview of the authoring approaches is presented in the introduction. Then, briefly some technological aspects of analog and digital video are discussed The main topic is discussed afterwards based on the time line authoring tool Director. We emphasize the benefits of using time line based authoring environments compared to other authoring tools. Also approaches in implementing new video technologies in such a multimedia-authoring environment are briefly presented.
