Scalable and robust videoconference codec 可扩展和健壮的视频会议编解码器

This paper proposes and implements a system to transmit in real-time slow video signals over the public network. The proposed codec is based on a multiple description approach whose advantage is an intrinsic robustness to the packet losses, as the simulation results have proved. This coding approach is important also for end user scalability since each device can decide the information to receive according to the display resolution and the connecting link bandwidth. The proposed system results are very suitable not only for IP networks but also for every packet network like the next generation mobile systems.

Applications of group signatures to anonymous fingerprinting schemes 群签名在匿名指纹方案中的应用

A group signature scheme allowed a group member to sign messages anonymously on behalf of the group. Fingerprinting schemes enable a merchant to identify the buyer of an illegally distributed digital good by providing each buyer with a slightly different version. An anonymous fingerprinting scheme allows the buyer to purchase goods without revealing her identity to the merchant. We propose an efficient anonymous fingerprinting scheme that uses group signature schemes.

Multiple narrow-baseline system for immersive teleconferencing 沉浸式远程会议的多窄基线系统

An important aim of immersive teleconferencing systems is to create realistic 3D virtual views of remote conferees. Hence, systems should be able to deal with hand gestures as well as occluded areas in reference images required in derived views. The quality of such derived views is dependent not only on the analysis and synthesis process but also the multiview camera set-up. Often the popular convergent wide-baseline stereo approach aspires to achieve too much through a single camera pair: maximum information and reliable disparity maps. We identify how this dichotomy leads to problems in the analysis and synthesis process, often leading to a restrictive system specific solution. We then define a new approach, a multiple narrow-baseline set-up, designed to overcome the limitations of the wide-baseline set-up, being modular, both in terms of system requirements as well as algorithmically, and scalable, with respect to the number of conferees.

The digital image transmission simulation by the model of the digital transmission channel 通过数字传输通道模型对数字图像传输进行仿真

The contribution deals with the simulation of non-compressed digital image transmission by a model of the digital transmission channel in baseband. The transmitted digital image corresponds to the CCIR ITU R-601 recommendation that is set up as a standard in digital video broadcasting baseband image processing. The channel is modelled as a digital filter with variable parameters and type of the channel. The whole simulation is aimed at the research and education area of the digital television signal transmission in baseband and quantification and evaluation of the distortions that may have influence on the transmitted digital signal in the digital television technique according to the standard DVB in the spatial, time and frequency domain.

How accurate should be disparities estimated for image-based rendering? 对于基于图像的渲染,差异估计应该有多准确?

Disparity estimation is the basis for the generation of a virtual view from a small set of real reference images. Much research on this area has been conducted by the computer vision community over the last decade. Currently, most problems involved in this technology are well understood and there exist several well-established algorithms to render virtual views from perspectively different images of the same scene. However, most work has been oriented towards high-accuracy disparity estimation to produce high-quality virtual images, often using sophisticated purpose-built hardware accelerators to achieve real-time results. Two disparity estimators with different complexity degrees are described and used to examine how much disparity inaccuracies influence image rendering quality. The objective of this study is to design software-based image synthesis in real-time on conventional PC platforms. Basically, this work looks at the opposite end of the cost-complexity curve by making very restrained demands on the disparity estimator. It is shown empirically that in many cases the effect of disparity accuracy on the quality of virtual views is almost imperceptible and that, for many applications requiring real-time processing, reasonably good results can be achieved with less computational cost.

Some problems of a digital motion picture restoration system 数字电影复原系统的几个问题

Some preliminary results of a "Digital Motion Picture Restoration System For Archives" (DIMORF) project are discussed. In this project a great amount of image and sound processing problems are solved and the results applied. The goal is to develop a system and a workstation for complete, high-resolution digital restoration of motion pictures specifically for the Hungarian National Film Archive. The system will correct the errors of image and sound as well. We plan to correct films, where the film material and volume of the sound (especially on nitro-celluloid films) are in critical condition and we have to preserve them in archives not only electronically, but on film material as well.

More and more broadcasters are turning to DV systems. Until now, there was no easy way to transfer the DV signal to other digital systems. With JVCs SA-DV 60E we have an efficient and easy way to transfer the DV signals to DV9 machines. Sony introduced an option board for the DSR-2000 that converts DVCAM A/V data streams into 50 Mbps conforming to the syntax specification of the 4:2:2P@ML standard. In this way, new digital interfaces make possible integration of DV formats to D9 and DVCAM to MPEG-2 4:2:2P@ML for production and post-production, and this could be a very good choice for broadcasters.

The printing industry is on its way to become a multimedia industry. Printing will not be the only media and means of outputting information. Printed products and online media have a common prepress stage (premedia) which only diverges just before the functional output as electronic media or as printed media. A good example of the potential of the multimedia market is the use of efficient workflow. The data file can be directly transmitted to different media by efficient workflow. Thanks to digital technology, all captured text and image data can be used for multimedia purposes. An incorrect data format can affect the quality of a prepress product. The aim of this article is to discuss the most prevalent data formats used in open prepress systems.
