Having studies that emphasize the mutual between evaluate the concept of developmental niche and its associations with different constructs is important. The scales that evaluate the family environment in the Turkish literature were examined, and a need has been observed for a scale that assesses the characteristics of the family context and developmental niche. For this aim, this study intends to adapt and evaluate the psychometric properties of the Evolved Developmental Niche History (EDNH), a measure developed by Narvaez et al. (2016b). The study has been conducted in two parts to assess the EDNH’s psychometric properties. The first part of the study conducts exploratory factor analyses (EFA) and validity analyses. The sample includes a total of 314 university students, 224 (71.3%) of whom are female and 90 (28.7%) who are male. The participants’ mean age is 20.63 years (SD = 1.99). The second part of the study conducts a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) over a sample consisting of 327 participants, of whom 271 (82.9%) are female and 56 (17.1%) are male. The participants’ mean age is 20.86 years (SD = 2.65). The scale originally consisted of 20 items with one factor. The findings reveal the scale to have 19 items and four factors in the Turkish sample. The relationships the EDNH has with the Family Climate Scale (Gönül et al., 2018); the Parent-Child Relationship Scale (Aytaç et al., 2018); and the Confusion, Hubbub, and Order Scale (Methany et al., 1982) were examined to test the construct validity. The correlations between these scales and the EDNH were mainly moderate. These results support the construct validity. In addition, Cronbach’s alpha for the overall EDNH is .90 and ranges from .67 to .83 for each of the factors. As a result, the findings from the present study provide evidence that this scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool. The adaptation of this scale is thought to be able to contribute to the Turkish literature for studying the concept of developmental niche. EXTENDED ABSTRACT The concept of niche is widely used in conjunction with the concept of habitat in natural sciences and is used to describe the interaction processes of species within their natural environment. In this respect, the concept of niche contradicts the traditional evolutionary view of the concept of passive organisms and brings a very dynamic perspective to the field (Flynn et al., 2013; Stotz, 2010). With this perspective, the concept of niche becomes involved in psychological approaches that examine the developing individual contextually (Lerner, 2006; Super & Harkness, 1986). In line with all this knowledge, Narvaez et al. (2016b) introduced the concept of evolved developmental niche and developed the Evolved Developmental Niche History (EDNH) as a retrospective measure of early life experiences that includes questions about affectionate touch, corporal punishment, play, family togetherness, and positive and negative home climate.

Virtual client applications created with technology are seen to have been used in recent years in various health disciplines as an alternative to traditional practice and training methods. Even more recently, they have become a topic in the field of mental health. This study aims to systematically examine the empirical studies in the literature to get a clearer picture of the virtual client applications that are specific to the mental health field but have yet to become widespread. To broaden the scope of the search, the Web of Science and Scopus databases were scanned according to the search terms created using the relevant keywords. The study has systematically reviewed 16 empirical studies on virtual simulations in the field of psychology and psychiatry education in line with the inclusion criteria. The findings have been evaluated within the scope of the scientific studies’ aims, the characteristics of the virtual applications used in these studies, the measurement tools used for evaluating the studies, and finally the results from these studies. As a result of the findings from this review, virtual client applications were seen to have been developed with various designs and technical features. When examining the measurement methods used according to the aims of the studies, the methods were found to differ from one another. When considering the findings from these studies, studies measuring users’ experiences with virtual client applications indicated the participants to have predominantly evaluated the virtual client applications positively. In addition, these studies indicated the virtual client applications to have improved various aspects of the participants, such as their psychopathological assessment skills, empathic communication skills, and interviewer self-efficacies. However, some problems were experienced during the applications, and feedback was found on how to improve the applications. In this context, the use of virtual client applications as a safe and supportive tool for gaining experience in psychological interview training can be concluded as promising. Still, when considering the limitations of the current studies, more experimental studies are needed that take different methods into account in terms of both virtual client design and research design in order to be able to use technology for psychological interview training more effectively and successfully and for understanding the effectiveness of the proposed applications more comprehensively. Why is there a significant gender gap in the global labor force participation? Is there a way to reduce vulnerable employment? May cultural values explain the gender gap in employment and male-dominant work structure? This research examined the associations between Hofstede’s culture dimensions (including power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation) and gender gap in employment indicators (women’s and men’s labor force participation and vulnerable employment rates) after controlling the economy. Secondary data were obtained from Hofstede’s culture dimensions and World Bank databases. When the countries with missing data are excluded, remaining data of 60 countries make up the data set of the study. Two-step hierarchical regression analyses were performed, in which economic development was entered in the first step and study variables were included in the model in the second step. The main results indicated that after controlling economic development, women’s labor force participation rate was negatively related to country scores on uncertainty avoidance. In contrast, men’s labor force participation rate was negatively associated with country scores on power distance, individualism, and uncertainty avoidance. Besides, both women’s and men’s vulnerable employment rates were negatively related to country scores on individualism. The fact that more women and men participate in the labor force in countries with low power distance and uncertainty avoidance can be interpreted as women’s labor force participation creates new job opportunities that both women and men benefit from. The results may be useful for researchers who aim to see the current gender-based labor force participation patterns in different countries and understand the culture dynamics of economic gender gap. gender gap in employment. Therefore, this study investigated the relationship between Hofstede’s culture dimensions dimensions (power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation) and women’s and men’s labor force participation rate of the population older than the age of 15 at the country level, and women’s and men’s vulnerable employment rates after controlling the economy.
