Arduino-based Multiple Aquatic Parameter Sensor Device for Evaluating pH, Turbidity, Conductivity and Temperature 基于arduino的多水参数传感器装置,用于评估pH,浊度,电导率和温度

This article presents the calibration and the analysis of the data being gathered by the proposed alternative low-cost Microcontroller-based Sensor Device that is capable of measuring several parameters such as the pH level, Turbidity, Temperature, and Electrical Conductivity of water samples. The proposed device is suitable for the improvement of any application that falls under Water Quality related studies. The main goal of this article is to minimize the number of discrepancy for each parameter thus, reducing the percentage error in data gathering and providing an alternative device that is low-cost and efficient for it integrates 4 water parameters in one device. The results show that the maximum percentage error for each parameter are as follows: 2.106% for pH level, 3.723% for Conductivity, 0% for Temperature, and 3.964% for Turbidity. In conclusion, the developed prototype achieved an accurate and precise water quality measuring device that is reliable to use in any water quality applications.

Characterization and Classification of Coffee Bean Types using Support Vector Machine 基于支持向量机的咖啡豆类型表征与分类

This study describes the characterization and classification of coffee bean types using the support vector machine. The benefits of this study are to provide knowledge that shows that there is a feasible way of classifying and characterizing coffee bean types based on its aroma using support vector machine and an electronic nose system. The results of the study was a success, the researchers were able to successfully process the data on a laptop using Support Vector Machine and display the proper coffee bean type on the LCD display on the electronic nose system. Looking at the results of the study, The researchers were able to train their machine-learning algorithm to be able to yield an accuracy of at least 70%. They, therefore, concluded that the constructed electronic nose is capable of accurately identifying coffee bean types based on its aroma using Support Vector Machine, this accuracy in results can be of use to future researchers who wish to use this paper for scientific references.

Development of Modulated Audible Frequency and Electric Shock Repellent for Rock Dove and Pigeon with Monitoring System 岩鸽、鸽子调制声频防触电及防触电监测系统的研制

The bird repellent combines sound and shock systems embedded with a simple monitoring system to overview the system's whole activity. The system uses a 4kHz audio frequency proven to be audible to doves and pigeon's hearing. A shock is used and proven tested to induce pain but not lethal to doves and pigeons. This technical research project mainly aims to design circuitry to release electric shock and the modulated audible frequency, develop a program to monitor the birds' occurrence, build the device, and perform a field function test. The system utilizes Raspberry Pi 3 and motion sensors such as ultrasonic and PIR sensors to trigger the whole system and its logging automatically. After a series of tests, the device effectively repels doves and pigeons in the treated area. The T-test value resulted to 10.25, which is greater than t(0.05,19) = 2.093, indicates that the treatment resulted significantly positive after being applied on the test subjects and a Pearson coefficient value of −0.95 demonstrates that the more treatments applied to the infected area, the lesser the population of the birds. Thus, the device can be used in deterring birds not just in urban areas but in farmlands as well.

Phytopigments Profiling of Lactuca Sativa Leaf Chloroplast Photosystems via Vision-based Planar Chromatography 基于视觉的平面色谱法分析油菜叶片叶绿体光系统中的植物色素

Phytopigments are essential indicators of plant growth. However, current methodologies use expensive laboratory devices. In this study, a low-cost approach of lettuce leaf phytopigments profiling is employed using a consumer-grade camera and integrated computational intelligence via paper chromatography. Hybrid neighborhood component analysis and ReliefF selected the blue reflectance extracted from chromatography to have the most significant impact with other leaf biophysical signatures. Chl $b$ exhibits more complex reflectance spectrum than other pigments and considered as strong indicator of energy absorbance variations. Xanthophyll and carotenoid have the strongest and weakest retardation factor and retention time, respectively. Chl a-b has weak affinity to acetone and their average blue reflectance is confirmed to absorb the highest number of photons in white light cultivation. Leaf absorbance varies by $pm 1307.04 mu mathrm{mol m}^{-2}mathrm{s}^{-1}$ PPFD per ±0.1 of blue reflectance. Among other machine learning models, Gaussian processing regression bested out multigene symbolic genetic programming and recurrent neural network in predicting the average chloroplast photosystems I and II blue reflectance with R2 of 0.9974. This developed approach extends the application of paper chromatography from segmenting to phytopigment profiling.

Residual Current Circuit Implemented in Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor for Remanence Correction 互补金属氧化物半导体残馀校正残馀电流电路的实现

This research paper presented a design that will address the challenges brought by remanence in ground-fault current interrupter devices (gfci). Remanence or residual magnetism is the magnetization left behind in a ferromagnetic material (such as iron) after an external magnetic field is removed. Remanence will make the gfci devices less accurate and less reliable in tripping the current above threshold in just five (5) years. It affects the performance of the device in terms of efficiency, accuracy, and response time. In this research, the problems caused by remanence were alleviated by using two identical transformers in detecting residual current both for hot and neutral wires. The difference of the current detected by the two transformers will be the basis of the signal threshold in tripping the device. By doing so, the problems caused by remanence phenomenon will be solved without compromising the response time of the circuit which is around 16 mS. The design will extend the life span of GFCI devices up to 15 years.

Transitional Considerations for Energy Storage Policy Recommendation in the Philippines 菲律宾储能政策建议的过渡考虑

The transition of the energy source from fossil-fuel to renewables is currently the global focus. The world's concern about climate change considering the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission leads them to make policy initiates to accelerate the transitions to renewable energy sources. The intermittent renewable sources combined with Energy Storage System (ESS) specifically the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) have the potential to produces secure, reliable, and efficient electrification for the end-users. The Philippines is one of the countries that participated in the global solutions in the transition from fossil-fuel based source to renewable energy source and ESS. But the policies of the government and players for this technological solution in the energy sector should be taken into considerations. The technological transition architectural framework will be used in this paper to recommend some policy in this technology.

A Systematic Evaluation of the Philippine Innovation Ecosystem 菲律宾创新生态系统的系统评价

While innovative ideas are the basis for most startup companies, a prolific and supportive innovation ecosystem is needed for these ideas to come to fruition. A systematic method to properly determine and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of a particular innovation ecosystem must be achieved. This research study presents a systematic evaluation of the Philippines' innovation ecosystem based on Oxentia's guide for evaluating a typical entrepreneurial ecosystem known as “The Elements Review”. This guide lists each element to be evaluated and grouped it into four areas: 1) Universities, 2) Government, 3) Businesses, and 4) the Third Sector. The original “Elements Review” used a color descriptor system to visualize the state of the innovation ecosystem. This research study proposed a number rating system to replace the color descriptor system. Each element was given a rating between 1 to 3. A rating of “1” is the lowest performance, while a rating of “3” is the highest performance. The average scores for each element area are Universities/RTOs = 2.33, Government = 2.4, Businesses/Industry = 2.5, and the Third Sector = 1.4.

The use of communication technologies—the internet and cell phones enhance service delivery in transportation, including the use of mobile application. The popularity of mobile applications has become increasingly dominant on mobile phone users, due to its availability across a wide variety of platforms. This study is a mobile application designed to facilitate the passengers and commuters who rely on public transportation like Utility Vehicles (UVs), in monitoring the UV seat's availability for travelling and pending UV trips, booking, and seat reservation for pick up and walk in passengers. Additionally, provides passengers in viewing the real-time location and real-time travel time information of the UV, enabling the Global Positioning System (GPS) in smartphone device. Likewise, allow UV drivers to view the passenger's pick up location and communicate with them through SMS or phone call. This application is also designed to monitor the over speeding of the driver and provides an SMS accident notification to the management to send an urgent rescue that would reduce fatalities. The software process model used was the Agile Software Development Model. This model is a fusion of iterative and incremental process models based on process adaptability and customer satisfaction through the timely delivery of working software product. Requirements modeling was conducted to ensure the input, process, output, performance, and control requirements needed for software development.

Characterization of the Tensile Strength of FDM-Printed Parts Made from Polylactic Acid Filament using 33 Full-Factorial Design of Experiment 用33全因子实验设计表征聚乳酸长丝fdm打印件的拉伸强度

This study is about the characterization of the tensile strength of PLA filaments at varied parameters namely, extrusion temperature, layer height and shell thickness. The PLA filaments are printed using a 3D printer under the principle of fused deposition modeling. The printed model abides by the ASTM D638 standard, which is the standard for tensile testing plastics. The three chosen factors have three levels each and three replications. A full factorial design of experimentation was utilized for the analysis of the data, and ANOVA was used to determine the statistically significant effect among the population means, and if interaction exists among the factors. Briefly, all the null hypotheses were rejected, and all alternative hypotheses were accepted, which states that not all means among the factors are equal and that there exists an interaction among the chosen factors. To get the best result on tensile strength, extrusion temperature should be leveled to 220°C, layer height should be maintained at a value of 0.3 mm, and a higher shell thickness should be observed, like for example, 1.2mm.

Development of Waste Management System using the Concept of ‘Basura Advantage Points’ through Artificial Neural Network 利用人工神经网络开发“Basura优势点”概念的废物管理系统

One of the most pressing problems of the world is the growing solid waste pollution. With current demands for sustainable development, the researchers developed a waste segregator machine that satisfies efficient segregation and introduces the concept of reward system to motivate people to throw their waste into the machine. In this paper, the researchers created an automatic segregating machine that uses Artificial Neural Network (ANN) as an algorithm for machine learning and embedded with the concept of “Basura Advantage Points”. The ANN acts as the brain of the machine for sorting out the plastic bottles as one category and other waste materials for the other category. The “Basura Advantage Points” is a novel concept wherein whenever people throw a garbage into the segregating machine, they can earn points which can then be used to redeem awards set by policy makers. Survey results show that the machine is appealing to the public. Based on the sample wastes, the accuracy of the machine is around 80 percent. From positive feedbacks to successful evaluation, the study highlighted a good model to decrease improper waste disposal and encourage people to participate in proper waste segregation.
