The Effect of Migration on Family in Nepal: A Review on the Family Structure, Livelihood, Education, Aging Parents, Reproductive Health and Marital Relationship 尼泊尔移民对家庭的影响:基于家庭结构、生计、教育、父母老龄化、生殖健康和婚姻关系的回顾

This study analyzes the effect of migration on the left-behind family members in Nepal especially focusing on the family structure, livelihood, education, aging parents, reproductive health, and marital relationship. The review was done based on the published journal articles, dissertations, and organizational reports from 2015-2020 to explore the areas impacted by the migration. Seven thematic areas emerged and found both positive and adverse effects and association of migration on left behind family members of the migrants. The review also found the need for further research on the ways of communicating and supporting between migrants and left behind family members to reduce the adverse effect of the migration on the left behind members of the family. Furthermore, field studies can concentrate on ways to enable women to learn skills, techniques and technology to increase production and diversify livelihoods.

The Role of Peer Influence and Tertiary Institution Type on Attitude Towards Cohabitation Among Adolescents in Nigeria 同伴影响和高等教育机构类型对尼日利亚青少年同居态度的作用

The descriptive study examined the role of peer influence and tertiary institution type on attitude toward cohabitation among adolescents in southwestern Nigeria. A sample of 620 males and females with (M=19.56 years, SD=6.18) completed a survey that comprised demographic information, measures of attitude toward cohabitation and peer pressure. Findings revealed that there was significant influence of peer influence on attitude toward cohabitation. There was no influence of tertiary institution type on attitude toward cohabitation. The study concluded that peer influence was a major determinant of attitude toward cohabitation. The study therefore recommended that psychologists should give proper orientation to students on the destructive tendencies that peer influence could have on their intention to have positive attitude toward cohabitation.

HIV-Infections in Male Youths: Risks Associated with Alcohol Misuse 男性青年中的艾滋病毒感染:与酒精滥用有关的风险

The purpose of the study was to explore the influence of alcohol misuse in HIV-infection at the Health and Welfare Organisation in South Africa. There is an association between alcohol misuse and HIV transmission. Male youths may lack understanding of the effects of alcohol on their sexual behavior when under the influence of alcohol. This makes male youths vulnerable to HIV infection. Qualitative methodology was used for an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon under investigation. The findings indicate that many male youths are aware of HIV-preventative methods, but their behavior is not always in line with what they know. Therefore, we recommend that male youths should be taught about the risk of HIV infection associated with alcohol misuse in various places such as schools and taverns. HIV/AIDS education should emphasize practical intervention strategies. Condom use should not be neglected in favor of newer preventative strategies such as male circumcision and pre-exposure prophylaxis.

European Policies for the Inclusion of Refugees in Higher Education: The Case of Greece 高等教育接纳难民的欧洲政策:以希腊为例

The abrupt influx of refugee populations in Europe in the last few years has, undoubtedly, posed many challenges in European countries. Higher Education is considered to be vital for the successful settlement of refugee communities into their host societies. Therefore, it is necessary to establish whether potential refugee aspirations to gain access in HEIs of their host country can be met at all. The present paper examines Greek policies regarding the inclusion of refugees in Higher Education (HE) and attempts to illustrate the range of initiatives taking place in Greek universities, directly or indirectly related to refugees, by highlighting the levels of authority involved, the locations, sources of funding and subject matter. Overall, what is made evident is that, in concurrence with dominant EU trends, the Greek government lacks a coherent policy for the inclusion of refugees in HE in Greece. It is most likely that the initiatives taken by researchers and academics (co-)shape what is considered to be the dominant policies regarding refugees in Greece and are not so much linked to their inclusion into HE as to other aspects of their presence in the country also involving separate target groups (teachers, local communities, researchers and others).

Critical Discourse Analysis of “Canción sin Miedo” by Vivir Quintana 维维尔·金塔纳《Canción sin Miedo》的批评话语分析

The feminist movement in Mexico has recently gained attention due to the diverse manifestations along with the country. The song Canción sin miedo (2020) portrays elements that keep a relationship with the feminist ideology, as well as recent events that are depicted in the lyrics. Critical discourse analysis (CDA) is presented as an approach to examining the song, using Halliday’s systemic functional linguistics (SFL) model and parallelism analysis. The outcomes of this study suggest that the song was produced as a claim for social justice, but it involves elements that generate a sense of identity for some women because their roles and struggles are depicted in the lyrics, principally femicide. Additionally, the parallelism analysis shows three syntactical structures that compose the body of the text. This examination is also a call for noticing the emergence of violence against women in Mexico.

Suicide among Undergraduate Students in Southeast Nigeria: An Empirical Evaluation of Durkheim’s Classifications of Suicide 尼日利亚东南部大学生自杀:迪尔凯姆自杀分类的实证评价

The Durkheimian sociological doctrine of suicide is classified into regulation/integration, high and low social currents, with four resultant suicide types such as egoistic, altruistic, anomic and fatalistic suicide. Across Nigeria and social classes, suicide types and circumstances according to the above classifications have become worrisome, warranting empirical investigation into the social wellbeing and suicide potentials in the social realm of Nigerian socio-economic and political landscape. As such, this study investigated the suicide tendency among undergraduate students in some selected institutions of higher learning in south-eastern Nigeria. The study adopted a survey design using a sample size of 2,200 students (17+). The study adopted parametric statistics for the test of the relationship of variables. In the overall findings, altruistic suicide tendency is high (60%), this is followed by anomic suicide tendency (47%), egoistic suicide tendency (46%) and fatalistic suicide tendency (41%). From the regression model (p< .05), altruistic suicide tendency was found to be predicted by family income and strong ties with family activities. Equally, anomic suicide tendency can be predicted by how many years the students have been in the school. Egoistic suicide tendency was found to be positively correlated with family income and source of sponsorship while fatalistic suicide tendency was found to be positively correlated with only family income.

Thousands of women die every day all over the world due to violence. Mexico is a country in which it is believed that machismo is one of the reasons why women are violated and murdered. There is the stereotype of believing that the female gender is being mistreated directly by men. However, this study aimed to show how women express themselves with a negative connotation against their own gender. Perhaps, females portrait themselves as feminists or women defenders. Nonetheless, their language states their true position. This project employed a critical discourse analysis under the use of Fairclough’s model. The results demonstrated how the discourse employed by the participants highlighted a machista perception towards women.

Performative Hybridity of Informal Initiatives Helping Refugees: A Way of Resistance 帮助难民的非正式行动的行为混合性:一种抵抗方式

The so-called “refugee crisis” has challenged establishment putting its capacities under question as the image of a chaotic situation prevailed over European Union and its member states intervention. Formal civil society and big transnational humanitarian institutions also became the target of the critics of a heterogeneous public. Present work argues that current forms of civil engagement, manifested for example in informal initiatives helping refugees, locate their efforts under an umbrella of decolonization of their own societies. Participants in informal initiatives produce with their actions a discourse of outrage, preferentially channelized through direct action approaches, which persecutes the creation of an emancipative alternative. In such a way, participants distance themselves from their societies of origin and came closer to the subaltern groups, such as those under the label “refugees”. Informal initiatives participants became, at least figuratively, the new “hybrids” in our society. A group of people figuratively localized between the oppressor forces and the subalterns. Far from essentialist conceptions of hybridity and aware of the critic literature at this respect the concept of hybridity is understood in performative terms. Present study attempts to describe the performance of hybridity by informal initiatives in a context of exercising dialectical power with other social actors, such as authorities as part as the oppressor forces; established civil society which does not seem to really challenge status quo; refugees as a forming subaltern group; and within themselves as part of two worlds full of contradictions and incongruences.

Philosophical and Therapeutic Aspects of the Platonic “Drama”: Andrew Irvine’s Socrates on Trial 柏拉图式“戏剧”的哲学和治疗方面:安德鲁·欧文的《苏格拉底受审》

The present article is written on the occasion of staging Socrates on Trial in Athens. The authors want to reveal unexplored psychological (such as the problem of personal identity, human relations, therapeutic needs of modern man etc.) and social aspects and situations (e.g. problem of justice, social role of the wise man, philosophy in education etc.) that those involved in the specific dramatization have faced with. The application of the Socratic dialectic in the theatrical presentation of philosophical ideas is discussed within the contemporary context of philosophical counseling and various therapeutic activities – such as the so-called philosophical “Praxis” – since the 1970’s. We argue in favor of a validly applied interrelation between philosophy and theatre today in which the platonic drama proves to be of great value as a literature genre that stands among them. Therefore we support that in Andrew Irvine’s play and the experience of staging Socrates on Tria l in its Greek version, we have a genuine example of an educational and therapeutic application of philosophy through art. in Abstract Traditional fishermen in Indonesia were commonly positioned as the poorest people. Actually, the society had owned the strategy to face the social economic difficulties. Generally, poor people had more spirit of survival because they needed to survive their life. That kind of potency might be in the form of personal-social asset, adaptation strategy and problem solving (coping strategy) used locally based on their house condition. This research aimed to explore the way of poor fishermen to survive, conducted in Tanjung Tiram. Methodologically, this research used qualitative approach focusing on people strategic way to survive toward poverty. The data were collected and interpreted simultaneously. The result showed that various strategy combinations of poor fishermen in surviving were the point between social structure awareness and self-correction through reflexive monitoring of action responding to the situation faced. The structural aspect included unbalance economy access and patron-client relation which limited the fishermen’s ability to increase their social economic status exploitatively. That condition created adaptive behavior such the optimality of coastal resource in their environment involving the whole members of family to earn livelihood. These three strategies became the common thing among them to survive toward social economic crisis. Abstract This paper examines the status, position and roles of women in ancient Greece. Based on available historical sources, it can be clearly established that women in ancient Greece had an inferior position to men. They were primarily viewed as “species-extending beings”. In none of the Greek city-states did women have political rights and were not considered as citizens. Practical Use and Regenerative Role of Theories of Intercultural Pedagogy in Educating Disadvantaged (Minority) Students 跨文化教育学理论在弱势(少数民族)学生教育中的实践应用与再生作用

In this essay the possibilities for the practical application of Hungarian intercultural pedagogy are analyzed showing the reflective practice of cultural anthropology. In Hungary a unitedly accepted model of intercultural pedagogy does not exist and the process of its creation is also full of obstacles. Forming the right method means interfering the everyday life of school communities and the knowledge of the usual working process in the school educational system is also assumed, A long, problem-driven research using anthropological methods (participant observation, action research) is needed to examine the group dynamics of children with a different cultural background within the same school by intercultural pedagogy. The culture of the school itself is also one of the venues of social environment but to be able to get to know the students’ point of view concerning their own school we will need several qualitative social examinations in the near future. Teachers working in the Hungarian educational system have not been able to prepare for educating disadvantaged students and ethnically/culturally heterogeneous classes yet. My essay is trying to refer to the educational transformations which have been totally altered because social tensions are immediately represented in schools. The school community reflects our social system. Without realizing it schools are not able to form a certain relationship with children. They have to see children not only as members of a particular family unit, but children also have to be seen in their global social relationship which is not neutral concerning the explanations of social and educational events.
