The objectives of this research are to find out the students’ perspective, the barriers, the advantages and disadvantages as well as the strategies of applying Zoom Cloud Meeting app towards EFL learning of STMIK Handayani in pandemic era Covid-19. The subjects of this research are five students of Manajemen Informatika (MI) and five students of Technical Information Extensive (TI Ext). The research employed descriptive qualitative design by using self-report questionnaire and interview as the research instruments. The result of research showed that (1) the existence of zoom cloud meeting in EFL learning are very effective to stop the spreading of covid 19 in pandemic era but the learning process cannot be perfect than the conventional learning (2) the main barriers of applying zoom cloud meeting are the bad network and the usage of big quota. (3) The advantages are many kinds of good features and high quality access, more flexible, comfortable, and relaxed and disadvantages are the learning condition cannot be felt, the learning is not perfect, make the students lazier and less of togetherness (4) the effective strategies are the methods must be interactive and the materials have to be delivered directly with audio and visual.

ABSTRACTCharacter is someone who appears in the story such as in short stories, novels, dramas, or movies. In this research, the researcher would like to analyze the characterization of the characters in the short movie entitled IBU. The research problems of this research are 1). How is the characterization of the characters? 2). What moral value that we got from the movie?. The purpose of this research is to know the characterization of the characters and to know the moral values that can we get. This research used qualitative descriptive to analyze and interpret the research object in the short movie entitled IBU. The researchers used table analysis in collecting the data. After that, the researchers explain and describe the result based on the table and made a conclusion. Based on the result, the researcher found the characterization of the characters. It is found that Gerry was an antagonist character while the mother was a protagonist character.

Abstract The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of using game at the students’ learning outcome for Conditional Sentence material. This study is an experimental study using One-Group Pre-test and Post-test Design. The data are the students’ learning outcomes and responses on the questionnaire. The study was conducted in SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Surabaya. The questionnaire and pre-test were carried out before learning. After online learning using game as an instructional medium, post-test and questionnaire were given to students. The learning outcome scores were analyzed with the help of the SPSS program to determine the increase in learning outcomes and the level of completeness. The conclusion is that learning Conditional Sentences with instructional medium for computer-assisted games on online learning shows effectiveness. The effectiveness of learning is shown by having achieved the completeness of the learning outcomes and students giving good responses to the use of games as an instructional medium during the Covid-19 pandemic.Keywords: covid-19 pandemic, game, online learning

AbstractBarbie doll for some people is only childhood plaything that holds memories, but for some others, it is a representation of one race that neglects the others. However, this problem was addressed in 2016 which when Mattel produced diverse dolls that represent people of other races, body types, skin colors, and many more. Yet there is still one platform that they have not change, that is when they adapted into YouTube, the video blog or vlog concept of Barbie. These two mediums both are created by one giant company that should value the same ideology. This study is conducted using comparative study to analyze both medium and applied diversity theory by Parekh to find out the diversity concept valued by Mattel. The findings show how Mattel still uphold some white supremacies ideology in its lack of diversity in the video blog production.Keywords: Diversity, White supremacy, Adaptation

This study focused on the use of Stephen Greenblatt's theory to analyze the novel “Sense and Sensibility” by Jane Austen. This study aims to determine the aspects of the novel by using the New Historicism approach. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data used is written data and the technique used is reading notes. Based on the results of the data analysis, the researcher found several contexts of New Historicism in the “Sense and Sensibility”, namely historical context, social context, cultural context, and biographical context. Historical context to find out how historical factors contained in the novel are then compared to non-literary texts in that era. Social context to find out how the social situation at that time. Cultural context to find out how the culture of society at that time, and biographical context to compare whether the novel describes the life of Jane Austen in the real life.

The results of this study stated that students were motivated to learn English caused by two factors, which are an internal stimulus and external stimulus. A teacher should know first these two things before determining what appropriate method to apply. The good of teacher's learning management would help students learning English. Smart students should not always be allowed to work alone in group assignments. This method makes students with the type of external stimulus even more unmotivated. The aims of this research were to find out the categories and the functions of code switching used by the English teacher of SMK Negeri 1 Makassar. This research employed descriptive qualitative research design. The participant was one of all the English teacher of SMK Negeri 1 Makassar, this participant is taken by using purposive sampling technique. The instruments were observation and audio recording. The results showed that (1) The three category of code switching mentioned by (Appel & Muysken, 2006) are found by the researcher. There are six examples of tag switching category, fourteen examples regarding with inter-sentential as well as there are thirteen examples of intra-sentential code switching found by the researcher in EFL classroom of SMK Negeri 1 Makassar; (2) The four functions mentioned by (Eldridge, 1996) are correct because the researcher found the example of equivalence in the extract one, floor-holding in the extract two, reiteration in the extract three and the last, conflict control in the extract four. It means that the researcher supports the theory of the expert regarding with the functions of code switching in EFL classroom.

The purpose of this research was to find out the racial issues that were contained in the poem and to find out the impact of racism on black people in the poem. The method used was descriptive method with a social approach. The researcher really understands the contents of the poem by reading it repeatedly, noting important parts, then compiling data that are directly related to this research. The results showed that in Jericho Brown's poetry, there were many issues of racism that occurred both from the past and the present. There were racism types that can be found in the poem, such as discrimination, injustice, skin color, segregation and slavery and in this poem, it is also found that there are racist acts against black people in the form of oppression, death, hunger, and death that happened to people. black skinned. In this study, it is explained that racist acts have a bad impact on those who experience them and there are many types of racist acts that can be understood. AbstractTextbook as a source of learning enables students to practice and develop their thinking ability through exercises which are designed in a different level of thinking. This research aims to analyse the most frequent thinking skills in WH-Questions and to examine the extent to which the WH-questions emphasize high-level thinking. This research uses a descriptive quantitative research. The writer first collects the WH-questions taken from an English textbook entitled “Buku Bahasa Inggris Kelas X”, then classifies the data based on its level of thinking. This research uses Bloom’s Taxonomy revised by Anderson & Krathwol. The finding shows that the most frequent thinking skill is remembering with 49.65%, the understanding level is 24.13%, applying level is 1.39%, analysing is 17.94%, evaluating is 6.89%, and creating is 0%. Based on the result, the researcher concludes that the book which is issued by the Ministry of Education focuses on the lower level of thinking skills. This research is expected to give contribution in textbook evaluation.Keywords: textbook, thinking skills, content analysis
摘要:课本作为学习的源泉,通过设计不同思维层次的练习,使学生的思维能力得到锻炼和发展。本研究旨在分析世界卫生问题中最常见的思维技能,并考察世界卫生问题在多大程度上强调高层次思维。本研究采用描述性定量研究方法。作者首先收集了一本英语教材《Buku Bahasa Inggris Kelas X》中的wh问题,然后根据其思维水平对数据进行分类。本研究使用由Anderson & Krathwol修订的Bloom分类法。结果表明,最常见的思维技能是记忆(49.65%)、理解(24.13%)、应用(1.39%)、分析(17.94%)、评价(6.89%)和创造(0%)。根据研究结果,研究者得出结论,教育部发行的这本书侧重于较低水平的思维技能。本研究可望对教科书评鉴有所贡献。关键词:教材,思维技巧,内容分析

This research aims to analyse the most frequent thinking skills in WH-Questions and to examine the extent to which the WH-questions emphasize high-level thinking. This research uses a descriptive quantitative research. The writer first collects the WH-questions taken from an English textbook entitled “Buku Bahasa Inggris Kelas X”, then classifies the data based on its level of thinking. This research uses Bloom’s Taxonomy revised by Anderson & Krathwol. The finding shows that the most frequent thinking skill is remembering with 49.65%, the understanding level is 24.13%, applying level is 1.39%, analysing is 17.94%, evaluating is 6.89%, and creating is 0%. Based on the result, the researcher concludes that the book which is issued by the Ministry of Education focuses on the lower level of thinking skills. Abstrak The purpose of this research is to describe the functions of illocutionary act in “Oz The Great and Powerful” movie. This research is qualitative descriptive. The data for this research are taken from the utterances of main character. To collect the data, the researcher used observation method and non-participatory technique. To analyze the data, the researcher uses pragmatic identity method. The method of presenting the data, researcher uses informal method. From the data, the researcher found 55 utterances of illocutionary act. The researcher classifies then into five; assertive, directive, expressive, commissive and declarative. From 55 utterances of illocutionary act, the most frequent illocutionary act encountered by researcher is the directive because the main character of “Oz The Great and Powerful Movie” expresses many of his words directly, such as ordering, commanding, requesting, warning.
