The portrayal of male masculinities varies from time to time following the engulfment of gender studies. It is seen from the significant increase of the discussion related to male and masculinities. Furthermore, discussions of masculinity are linked with how a particular culture perceive masculinity. In several Thai folktales and so-considered classic literature like the Legendary Tale of Krai Thong and the Legend of Phra Chao Sua, the heroes and the warriors present themselves as masculine. Their manly assets including body and gesture have become the exploitation of the story whilst being the model of masculinity. Utsana Phleungtham’s two main male characters in the novel the Story of Jan Dara is without exception. Those heroes of the story portray male masculinities through their existence and domination. Undertaking the library studies, this article illustrates how male masculinities are depicted and why it is manifested though those characters. The findings show that the male masculinities are presented vividly in order to maintain the rooted masculine domination.

This present study aims to find out the how significant the utilization of Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) with mobile learning on students’ reading comprehension. This study is conducted by using the quantitative method with pre-experimental design. The instrument used in in this study was test sheet called as Reading Comprehension Test (RCT), and it employed in pre-test and post-test, it was developed and selected from student textbooks, story books, and authentic materials to measure students’ reading comprehension achievement. The present results reveal that CIRC teaching strategy with mobile learning (m-learning) improved students’ performance in reading comprehension, it was indicated from the result of paired samples test (t-test) that the value of the t-observed significant is at .000 is lower than .050 (.000 < .050, this means students’ improvement is significant after exposed by the experimentation (treatment) process. The present study contextualizes how symbolism is employed by writers of ethnically minority in the United States as an avenue of their agency and criticism against the dominant white perspective. The history of American minorities is marred with legacy of racial discrimination and segregation which highlights the inequality of race. Literature as a cultural production captures the experiences of the marginalized and the use of symbolism is intended to transform themes into the field of aesthetics. This study is a qualitative research which is conducted through the post-nationalist American Studies framework in order to focus on the minorities’ experience instead of the Anglo-Saxon outlook. The object of the study is three playscripts written from authors from Mexican-American, African-American and Asian-American to emphasize how discrimination is faced by multi-ethnic. The finding suggests how symbolism in these literary works intends to counter the stereotypical representation of Mexican-American, aligns with the passive resistance of the Civil Right Movement and subvert binary opposition of East and West which exoticizing the East. Keywords : minority literature in the U.S , symbolism, post-national

Technology today has played a major role in the field of education especially with the adaptation of World-Wide Web and fast internet networking such as 4G and 5G. Since traditional teaching activity is seen not more enough to support the students’ learning of English especially in the EFL context where the English are commonly used at school, university, or college educators have combined face to face interaction with an online course in blended learning. The Google Classroom is a networks platform for interaction among teachers and students, collaborate, share and evaluate homework, grades, class discussions, notices, and evaluations. Its objective is to help educators use social media power to customize the classroom for all students. Awareness of the positive potentials of this learning style will allow Google Classroom to introduce a mixed learning approach in the classroom. The post would discuss how Google Classroom facilitates English classroom teaching and learning writing. The argument continues with Google Classroom presentation and the idea of mixed education using Google Classroom. Then it continues with the application of this platform into actual teaching writing context and its outcome. Furthermore, the researchers will also discuss the current and future challenges of Google Classroom in ELT writing for EFL learners as well as teachers

The objective of this research is to investigate the code-switching in communication between nurse and patient which takes place in South Malang. The people speak Indonesian language, Javanese, and Madurese; therefore, they are living in a bilingual society. This research uses questioner to collect demographic data and audio recordings to collect the communication production between nurse and patient while a nurse is giving an initial assessment. The data are analyzed by looking at the code-switching from a sociolinguistic view. The result shows that nurse and patient use code-switching not because they cannot speak one of the languages but they do not want to throw respect to each other. It can be seen from the word used in Javanese which is part of the mid-high Javanese speech level.
