In order to reduce the inter-user interference in multiuser Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wireless communication systems, e.g., MIMO-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) systems, it is often desirable to the complex pre-processing at the transmitter. In this paper, we propose a multi-user beamfoming algorithm with sub-codebook selection. Based on the minimal leakage criterion, the codebook selection, limited feed-forward and MMSE detection are combined in the proposed algorithm. This avoids the complex channel matrix decomposition and inversion. Consequently, the computational complexity at the transmitter is significantly reduced. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm performs better than existing beamforming algorithms.

This paper proposes a novel cross-Hexagon-based motion estimation algorithm using motion vector adaptive search technique. The proposed algorithm makes full use of the motion vector's characteristics which are center-biased and the relevance of time and space. The proposed algorithm is combined with the cross pattern and hexagon search algorithm, according to the type of motion to adaptively choose the search strategy and the original searching point, at the same time setting the threshold for stationary block to directly suspend searching. The experimental results show that the speed of the search algorithm is superior to the existing fast motion estimation algorithm, searching accuracy close to UMHexagons algorithm.

In traditional analysis to the performance of MBSFN uncorrelated shadow fading is used. In some cases this assumption does not capture the behaviors of the shadow fading. In this paper, a novel analytical model of system, user equipment receiver and correlated shadow are proposed firstly, then the performance measures were introduced, the changes in coverage due to correlation among the received signal from different eNBs was investigated. Numerical results demonstrate that the coverage properties depend on the correlation in the shadow fading due to the structure of the terrain. Moreover, strong shadow correlation yields better coverage for high transmission power. It is helpful for MBSFN planning by using this model.

This paper presents a comprehensive metric to evaluate the link quality for the distributed control of robotic swarms to maintain the communication links. The mobile robots dynamically reconfigure themselves to maintain reliable end-to-end communication links. Such applications require online measurements of communication link quality in real-time and require a connection between link quality and robot positions. In this paper, we present the empirical results and analysis of a link variability study for an indoor and outdoor environments including received signal strength indicator(RSSI), active throughput and packet loss rate(PLR) using the off-the-shelf software and hardware. RSSI is adpoted to reflect the basic performance of link quality in robotic sensor networks. Throughput acting as a decaying threshold generator is used to estimate the critical point for smooth and stable communication. Meanwhile, The metric PLR is apdoted to reckon the cut-off point in end-to-end communication. The assessment of link quality acts as a feedback for cooperative control of mobile robots. The experimental results have shown the effectiveness of evaluation for the link quality of robotic sensor netwroks.

Motion detection and extraction for multi-view video (MVV) is one of the key technologies for MVV applications, and it has become a hot in recent years. In this paper, a new method that will use semantic information and movement information based on depth maps for motion detection is pro-posed. First, a sequence of consecutive depth images is converted into a sequence of consecutive temporal-to-spatial slices in the horizontal and vertical directions. In each one temporal-to-spatial slice, semantic information and motion information are both included, the background region forms a vertical line pattern, and a moving object creates an irregular, non-vertical structure. Second, to binarize the temporal-to-spatial slices are binarized by a dynamic threshold. Then we reconstruct the converted slices in the horizontal and vertical directions into temporal image masks, and reserve the common part of two corresponding masks. At last, by post-processing the reconstructed images, moving object masks can be obtained. Experiment results show that the proposed method exhibits a good performance for motion detection.

In this work, a novel maximum Doppler spread estimation algorithm is specifically designed for Lattice-OFDM (LOFDM) systems with the optimal 2D cluster pilot pattern in doubly dispersive channels. The LMMSE channel estimation is adopted instead of LS method for accurate original channel estimation, which is used to generate two auto-correlation matrices with different lags. The maximum Doppler spread is acquired by inverting the time correlation function. Since the noise term will bias the estimator, the estimated channel frequency responses (CFR's) are projected onto the delay subspace of the channel to reduce the bias term as well as the computation complexity. Furthermore, the subspace tracking algorithm is adopted to automatically update the delay subspace. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed algorithm can quickly converge to the true values for a wide range of SNR's and Doppler spreads in doubly dispersive channels.

Ouhsain et al [Expert Systems with Applications 36, 2123–2129(2009)] presented a technique using DWT and NMF, which apply NMF to the blocks of the wavelet decomposition sub-band, and then is followed by eigendecomposition distortion. Motivated by the approach of Ouhsain et al, we proposed an improved image watermarking scheme. Our technique do not apply NMF to the blocks of the wavelet decomposition sub-band, direct apply SVD to these blocks. Our proposed algorithm is simpler than algorithm of Ouhsain et al. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme not only provides good fidelity and robustness against intentional attacks and normal visual processes, but also achieves a low computational complexity.

In TDD-CDMA, the detection method conventionally is MMSE-BDFE (Minimum Mean Square Error-Block Decision Feedback Equalization) based joint detection. MMSE-IC is an efficient detection algorithm in V-BLAST. To adopt the advantages of MMSE-IC (Minimum Mean Square Error-Interference Cancellation), we can embed MMSE-BDFE into MMSE-IC. Furthermore, we can postpone the interference cancellation after decoding, and joint detect the remained users' data from the remained signals in the next iteration. By the aid of interference cancellation after decoding, the decoding decision gain and interference cancellation gain can be obtained, so the performance is improved especially when the users' number is large. The experiments show that the proposed methods have better performance.

The principle of airborne ocean wind-field detecting system based on GPS scatter signal is proposed. The architecture of Doppler Delay Mapping Receiver (DDMR) was introduced in this paper. Six key techniques were discussed such as improving the Signal Noise Ratio of reflected signal, dual radio frequency front-end, calculating the specular point for Doppler and code delay, implement for multi-channel correlator, reflected signal open loop tracking, reflected signal accumulating. Real time data collection campaigns were done at Sanya near sea with the Doppler Delay Mapping Receiver mounted on an airplane. Results show that the receiver can simultaneously receive direct and ocean scattered GPS signal, correctly calculate specular point, successfully measure the ocean scattered signals correlated power for Doppler and Code Delay. Two-dimension data is valid for the ocean wind retrieval. The technique can also be used in land moist sensing, ocean wave height detecting.

Aiming at the bad effect of intra-frame rate control (RC) of H.264, this paper proposed an image complexity adaptive intra-frame RC algorithm. First, in order to acquire intra-frame coding complexity more accurately, our algorithm analyzes intraframe by Sobel operator and establishes edge direction histogram for each 4×4 block, then gets the most probable intra prediction mode and corresponding reconstructed blocks, finally obtains the residual picture which is close to the actual coding residual. The mean absolute value of residual picture was used to represent the intra-frame coding complexity, combined with our empirical rate-quantization (R-Q) model and target bits allocation method from exhaustive experiments, and the intra QP was determined accurately. Extensive experimental results show that our algorithm not only obtains more accurate intra-frame output bitrate, more consistent subjective quality and more steady PSNR fluctuation compared with existing algorithm, but also prevents buffer overflow and frame skip effectively.
