This study was conducted to determine the rate of antibiotic resistance, multiple antibiotic resistance of 60 E. coli strains isolated from white-leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) collected from Binh Dien Agricultural Wholesale Market in Ho Chi Minh City. Survey of lighting systems and aesthetic illumination design for various major parks in Ho Chi Minh City 胡志明市各主要公园照明系统及美学照明设计概览

The study was carried out from August 2019 to August 2020 at five major parks in Ho Chi Minh City. We aimed to survey the lighting system including bulb types, lamp types, illumination type, and average horizontal illuminance. The study was carried out by several methods such as a questionnaire of the characteristics of the lamp, observing, measuring, analyzing, synthesizing data, and evaluating. We divided each park by area, for example, main gate, side gate, main axis, branch road, lawn, activity area for investigation. The result showed that the parks having LED and HQ compact bulbs, which were popular chandeliers. Most parks had direct lighting to provide panoramic illumination, but did not reach the average horizontal illuminance. We propose an aesthetic illumination design for the central area of ​​the park with ideas from the history of the park's formation and development. The research results contribute to the improvement of the lighting system for the parks in Ho Chi Minh City.

Trial on artificial breeding and laviculture of giant razor clams (Cultellus maximus Gmelin, 1791) 大蛏子的人工繁殖和养殖试验(Cultellus maximus Gmelin, 1791)

The study was carried out with the aim of determining the reproductive parameters and performing the rearing of giant razor clams (Cultellus maximus Gmelin, 1791) at larval stage and postlarval stage with different diets. The results showed that the spawning rate was 62.22 ± 3.85%, the fecundity was 7.98 ± 0.67 million eggs/female, the relative fecundity was 48,081 ± 5,826 eggs/g female, the fertilization rate was 42.67 ± 4.47%, and the hatching rate was 44.19 ± 4.02%. The rearing at larval stage with different diets of algae was investigated ((T1.1): Nanochloropsis oculata + Isochrysis galbana; (T1.2): N. oculata + Chaetoceros muelleri; and (T1.3): N. oculata + Isochrysis galbana + C. muelleri). The results showed that T1.3 gave the survival rate, length and width of larvae, reaching 5.3 ± 0.91%; 1525.60 ± 48.90 μm and 918.20 ± 28.00 μm, respectively. The parameters obtained from T1.3 was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than that of T1.1 and T1.2. The rearing at postlarval stage with different diets was also studied as follow: (T2.1): N. oculata + I. galbana + C. muelleri; (T2.2): using commercial feed (Lansy and Frippak); and (T2.3): combination of 50% of T2.1 + 50% of T2.2. The results showed that T2.1 gave the survival rate, growth in length and width of postlarvae, reaching 11.83 ± 3.89%; 5.72 ± 0.61 mm and 3.31 ± 0.14 mm respectively. Growth parameters of T2.1 were significantly higher (P < 0.05) compared to that of T2.2 and T2.3.

Assessment of the immune responses of macrophages in selective breeding pangasius families (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) resistant to enteric septicemia of catfish (ESC) 选择性养殖巴沙鱼科(Pangasianodon hypophthalmus)巨噬细胞对鲶鱼肠败血症免疫应答的评价

This study aimed to evaluate the non-specific immune responses of macrophages in two selective breeding pangasius family groups: high disease-resistant (A) and low disease-resistant (B) to Enteric Septicemia of Catfish (ESC) caused by Edwardsiella ictaluri. Fish were sampled at five different time points after infection with the bacteria E. ictaluri including before the infection process, 24hpi, 48hpi, 264hpi and 312hpi. There were 372 samples including 192 samples of fish in group A and 180 samples in group B. All of them were used to analyze the amount of melano-macrophage centers in the tissues of liver, kidney and spleen; phagocytosis activity (PA) and phagocytosis index (PI) of the anterior kidney macrophages. Results showed that (1) the number of melano-macrophages of group A fish was higher than that of group B at survey points during the challenge and the difference was significant at 48hpi; (2) PA and PI of group A were higher than that of group B in the period from 48 to 264hpi, specifically, the PI of group A was higher than that of group B, which was statistically significant at 48hpi. The results of this study showed that the differences in non-specific immune responses through melano-macrophages can improve the survival rate and life span of the high disease-resistant family compared to the low disease-resistant family after the challenge with Edwardsiella ictaluri.

Effects of low-density lipoprotein extracted from egg yolk on preservation of chilled canine semen (4oC) 蛋黄低密度脂蛋白对冷冻犬精液(4oC)保存的影响

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) derived from hen egg yolk has been considered an important component in the storage of canine semen; however, in Vietnam, there have not been many studies regarding this topic. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of LDL in the preservation of canine chilled semen in Vietnam. The assessment of semen samples was based on four criteria: storage time, motility, absolute viability, and integrity of acrosomal membrane at motility rate 0.9; 0.5 and 0.3. The semen samples collected were divided into three equal parts, each was then diluted with three different extenders and stored at 4oC. The extenders were LDL + basic extender (LDL), egg yolk + basic extender (EY), and basic extender (C). The storage time of canine semen was recorded from the beginning of monitoring until the motility decreased to 0.3. The storage time of the three extenders was in the order of EY > LDL > C, with 108 h, 60 h, and 48 h, respectively. The absolute viability of fertilizable sperm (Sa5) in the extender was EY (768), LDL (423) and C (280), which was significant (P < 0.001). The percentage of viable sperm with intact acrosome membrane at motility time A = 0.9 in LDL was 59.31%, higher than that in EY (30.99%). In the storage period from A = 0.9 to A = 0.5, the acrosome loss percentage of both EY and LDL decreased equally (7.30% and 7.23%), but the storage time of EY (84 h) was longer than that of LDL (48 h). In conclusion, the EY gave a longer storage time, higher absolute viability and longer maintain percentage of viable sperms and intact acrosome membrane compared to the LDL. However, within the first hours of storage, the percentage of viable sperm and intact acrosome membrane in the EY was lower than that in the LDL. Therefore, to preserve canine semen for a short time (less than 48 h), the LDL extender should be used for better effectiveness.

Ben Tre is a coastal province in the Mekong Delta heavily affected by negative impacts of climate change and sea level rise, such as freshwater shortage and increased salinity intrusion during the dry season. This research aimed to develop a remote sensing approach, using time series data to assess drought development for the coastal districts (Ba Tri, Binh Dai, and Thanh Phu) in Ben Tre province. The Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI) was analyzed based on the time-series Landsat 8 OLI data, which were obtained continuously from 2009 - 2019 to evaluate drought changes over time. The drought maps of 2009 and 2019 were established and the results showed that there were four levels of drought, including non-drought, slight drought, moderate drought and severe drought. Areas with non-drought and slight drought were reported at 5.65% and 35.34% (about 6,098 ha and 38,146 ha), respectively; while about 53.14% and 5.87% of the study areas were classified as moderate and severe drought (about 57,354 ha and 6,332 ha), respectively. The assessment of fluctuations in the period 2009-2019 showed that the areas of non-drought and slight drought tended to decrease while the areas of moderate and severe drought increased. The drought was positively related to agricultural land-use change as shown by the following formula loge(Pi/(1 - Pi)) = 7.985 * TVDI - 6.746. Drought tended to decrease in the areas where the bare land was changed to lands for perennial crops, rice crops and aquaculture, while drought tended to increase in land-use types of rice and annual crops.

Starch recovery from turmeric powder (Curcuma longa) after ethanol curcumin extraction in comparison to the conventional method 乙醇提取姜黄素后,与常规方法比较,从姜黄粉中提取淀粉

Recovery starch from organic waste significantly contributes to sustainable agricultural production. This study aimed to recover starch from the waste mimicking generated from the curcumin extraction by using ethanol. The physicochemical properties of the isolated starch such as microscopic morphology, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, total starch, iodine binding capacity of starch, curcumin content determined by high-performance liquid chromatography were compared to that of starch obtained from the conventional method of extraction from the fresh rhizome. The results showed that the starch obtained from the fresh rhizome had a higher yield (21.3% vs. 8.5%) compared to that of starch isolated from the turmeric powder after extracting curcumin. The total starch analysis indicated that the former starch had a higher purity (98% vs. 77%, dw). The SEM imaging showed that both starches had irregular shapes with a thick flat and smooth surface. Although the starch isolated from the turmeric powder showed the dedicated properties of starch, the peak intensity and crystalline structure were remarkably decreased, observed under FTIR and X-ray diffraction analyses, respectively. The pasting analysis showed a clear change in starch obtained from the turmeric powder after ethanol extracting curcumin since a low peak viscosity was recorded. The HPLC curcumin quantification showed that both starches had a very low residue of curcumin (18.4 mg/100 g and 66.5 mg/100 g, dw) after isolation. The process of recovery starch after curcumin extraction from turmeric would be further improved to prevent the changes in physicochemical properties and for better yield.

Evaluating the diversity of native ornamental fishes in Dong Nai biosphere reserve, Dong Nai province, Vietnam 越南同奈省同奈生物圈保护区原生观赏鱼多样性评价

This study was conducted from May 2019 to December 2020 to investigate the diversity of native ornamental fishes in Dong Nai Biosphere Reserve (DNBR). The study identifed 116 fish species belonging to 11 orders and 28 families in the water bodies of the DNBR. The analysis of compilation of the samples in the study further revealed that Cyprinidae was the most abundant family contributing 50 species followed by Perciformes and Siluriformes providing 24 species and 21 species, respectively. Out of 116 recorded species, 53 species were considered as ornamental fish, 77 species as food fish and 31 species as both ornamental and food fish. Among the ornamental fish group, many species have recorded good abundance at studied sites. Most of these fish species are high demand and sold at high prices in the domestic and international markets. The domesticated results showed that 21 ornamental fish species belong to 11 families were adapted and developed well in captivity conditions. The results also specified that eight species reach level 4 of domestication indicating truly domesticated, while the remaining 13 species belong to the first three levels of domestication, implying need to be further domesticated before being marketed. In addition, the study concluded that if managed sustainably, the collection of wild fish for the ornamental fish purpose could provide a stable income and livelihood for communities in the DNBR.

Hydrolysis conditions of black bean and brown rice and application of the hydrolysate in trial production of plant-based milk 黑豆和糙米的水解条件及水解产物在植物乳试制中的应用

Brown rice and black beans were known as good food sources. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the physicochemical and antioxidative properties of brown rice and black bean extracts treated with different enzymes such as Bialfa-T, Glucozyme 2x, Bialfa-T-Glucozyme 2x, Biase, Biomatasa-L andBiase-Biomatasa-L. These extracts were initially used to produce plant-based milks. The results showed that the combination of Bialfa-T and Glucozyme enzymes expanded the recovery yield and total phenolic content. Combined Bialfa-T and Glucozyme enzymes also resulted in the highest antioxidant capacity in both brown rice and black beans extracts. The product made from the mixture of brown rice extract and black bean extract at a ratio of 1:1 (v/v) had an acceptableorganoleptic quality

Isolation and characterization of antibacterial compounds from Euphorbia tirucalli against Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri 大戟对轴足黄单胞菌抗菌化合物的分离与鉴定。citri

Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. citri (X. axonopodis pv. citri) is the cause of canker disease on lime trees that negatively affect plant health and fruit quality. This study focused on the comparison of the extraction yield and antibacterial properties of Euphorbia tirucalli against X. axonopodis pv. citri, phytochemical screening, quantifcation of phenolic and flavonoid contents of the fraction extract. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction (EA) (7.5 mg/mL) of E. tirucalli from Dak Nong province had the best activity against bacteria with diameter of inhibition zone determined 15.50 ± 0.50 mm, and the minimum inhibition concentration was 0.312 mg/mL. Alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, and terpenoids were found in the EA fraction extract of E. tirucalli, whereas saponin did not appear in the extract. The phenolic and flavonoid content was in the range of 14.46 - 98.63 mg GEA/g and 90.34 - 408.86 µg QE/g, respectively. Column chromatography followed Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectra were performed and the three compounds were identifed as scopoletin, gallic acid, and 3,3’,4’-tri - O - methylellagic acid. This study suggests that the extract from E. tirucalli and the isolated compounds can be used for managing of citrus canker disease.
