In consideration of decoding cydic codes, a general formula for error pattern prediction is obtained. It extends the Welch-Berlekamp theorem and expands the Welch-Berlekamp algorithm, so that the limitation from BCH bound is broken, and the algorithm turns into a universal one which meets the actual minimum distance as well as complete decoding beyond the minimum distance in the case of decoding BCH codes and general cydic codes.

The influence of stochastic dispersion on an optical soliton communication system is investigated, and the method of reducing this influence is also given. The analysis shows that the existence-of stochastic dispersion results in the arrival time jitter, which is in proportion to the mean square fluctuation of the imaginary component of stochastic dispersion and is related to soliton amplitude and velocity. The influence of stochastic dispersion can be reduced by using filtering method in frequency domain.

Let f be a holomorphic immersion which maps a Kahler manifold into a Kahler manifold of the same dimension. A Schwarzian derivative Sf of f is proposed. It is proved that: i) if Sf=0 and Sg=0, then Sf·g=0; ii) if the real part of the Schwarzian derivative of f on a convex domain in the Kaler manifold is bounded above, then F is an embedding. The upper bound is related to the holomorphic sectional curvature of the domain. This second theorem is an extension of Neharis criterion of univalence.

In order to obtain an overall and systematic understanding of the performance of a two-stage light gas gun (TLGG), a numerical code to simulate the process occurring in a gun shot is advanced based on the quasi-one-dimensional unsteady equations of motion with the real gas effect,;friction and heat transfer taken into account in a characteristic formulation for both driver and propellant gas. Comparisons of projectile velocities and projectile pressures along the barrel with experimental results from JET (Joint European Tons) and with computational data got by the Lagrangian method indicate that this code can provide results with good accuracy over a wide range of gun geometry and loading conditions.

The solution of kinetic Alfven wave under action of anomalous resistance has two branches: the slow wave, VPVA cosθ will evolve into a stationary structure of Alfven traveling surge and the fast wave VPVA cosθ will be in a wave-broken state. Such traveling surge structure is a typical self-organization phenomenon and its wave form is determined by parameter β which represents the magnitude of resistance. High β leads to shock-like structure and low β to the appearance of some solitary waves in front of the shock. According to the study on solitary wave, shock wave and traveling surge in conjunction with self-organization of nonlinear dynamics, a general definition of wave can be given.

A statistical mechanics framework of fuzzy random polymer networks is established based on the theories of fuzzy systems. The entanglement effect is manifested quantitatively by introducing an entanglement tensor and membership function and the amorphous structure is treated as the fuzzy random network made up of macromolecular coils entangled randomly. A random tetrahedral entangled-crosslinked cell is chosen as an average representative unit of the fuzzy random polymer network structure. By making use of the theory of fuzzy probability and statistical mechanics, the expression for the free energy of deformation is given, which fits well with the experimental data on rubber elasticity under various deformation modes. Both classical statistical theory and Mooney-Rivlin equation can be taken as its special cases.

The magnitude of the inner edge of accretion disks in low mass X-ray binaries is controversial in theoretical considerations and observations. Using the inner boundary conditions of accretion disks the inner disk radius has been calculated by taking into account the effect of feedback radiation and the deviation of disk rotation from Keplerian. Results have been applied to the observations and possible interpretations have been proposed for the X-ray spectra and quasiperiodic oscillations.
