The dynamic stress intensity factor history for a semi-infinite crack in an otherwise unbounded elastic body is analyzed. The crack is subjected to a pair of suddenly-applied point loadings on its faces at a distance L away from the crack tip. The exact expression for the mode I stress intensity factor as a function of time is obtained. The method of solution is based on the direct application of integral transforms, the Wiener-Hopf technique and the Cagniard-de Hoop method. Due to the existence of the characteristic length in loading, this problem was long believed a knotty problem. Some features of the solutions are discussed and graphical result for numerical computation is presented.

In this paper, a new concept of selection operators on hyperspaces (subsets spaces) is introduced, and the existence theorems for several kinds of selection operators are proved. Using the methods of selection operators, we give a selection characterization of identically distributed multivalued random variables and completely solve the vector-valued selection problem for sequences of multivalued random variables converging in distribution. The regular selections and Markov selections for multivalued stochastic processes are studied, and a discretization theorem for multivalued Markov processes is established. A theorem on the asymptotic martingale selections for compact and convex multivalued asymptotic martingale is proved.

Four polynomial-time hierarchies on functions are introduced, which are considered to be generalizations of Valiant's counting function class #P, class Span-P introduced by Kobler et al., Krentel's optimization function class Opt-P, and F2p. It is shown that our polynomial hierarchies of optimization functions are the same as that defined by Krentel. The relationships within every hierarchy and between them are studied.

In this paper, we deal with the problem of uniqueness of meromorphic functions. It is shown that there exist two finite sets Sj (j=1, 2) such that any two nonconstant meromorphic functions f and g satisfying Ef(Sj)=Eg(Sj) for j = 1,2 must be identical, which answers a question posed by Gross.
