Since the end of XIX century there were key figures who not only anticipated performative behaviour typical of contemporary society, but also massmedial attitudes on identitary multiplication that find in photography the best media to express themself. The Countess of Castiglione and Lady Gaga represent the apogee of the research that mix public and private, and real and imaginary body.

The text aims to analyze the museum entrance halls, mainly from the point of view of the growing phenomenon of mass tourism. The entrance space is examined not only for its functional characters but also for its symbolic power in structuring or changing the historical and cultural identity of the entire museum’s building. Both in new projects and in restoration of ancient museum buildings, in fact, contemporary architects seems to be increasingly attracted by this design aspect.

This paper reports some reflections on the particular approach to cultural experience that visitors of the Museo Martinitt e Stelline in Milan have the opportunity to live in the exhibition. This site, in fact, stands as an interesting cultural center to visit and interact with more prospects. Through special multimedial and interactive installations the visitors are not merely spectators, they are in no way “subjected to” the concepts offered to them, but rather they relate to them by really delving into the historical information they wish to receive.

Urban space can be a powerful display that offers great chances to media marketing and communication in general. Nowadays, every kind of architecture or structure in the city is part of an expanded scenic backdrop suitable to perform spectacular acts expressing either ephemeral or permanent values. Mutating faster than its architecture, the urban scenario becomes the archetype of social and cultural changes. The contemporary city is the favored place for any kind of communication or intensive propagation of ideas and “suggestions”. Its spaces are contended by art and advertising which, through interventions and a constant crossover process, find a confluence in their specific intents. While the artistic act often exploits urban space for social or promotional purposes, trying to give more visibility to the city’s abandoned or deteriorating places, instead advertising exploits the city’s most visible spots for commercial purposes. But all over the years art and advertising have changed, too. Both have reinforced their connection with each other and both have borrowed tools from each other; in fact, today their parameters and strategies are mixed. The observer or the city user, who is often unaware of this ambiguous communication, frequently assimilates the message but confuses its real meaning.
