Introduction: COVID-19 is a major health crisis, which led to a nationwide lockdown. The combined effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown impacted patients suffering from non-communicable diseases. Aims: To assess medication compliance among diabetic and hypertensive patients during lockdown due to COVID-19 and to find out the association between factors affecting compliance during lockdown due to COVID-19. Method: All patients registered at an urban health training centre for treatment of diabetes, hypertension or both. The study was a facility-based cross-sectional study, done at an Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), affiliated with VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. 145 patients were taking treatment for diabetes mellitus, hypertension, or both for six months or more, at UHTC before the commencement of lockdown. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Patients were contacted telephonically. Data were analysed for frequency and percentage, and the relationship was assessed using chi-square test/ Fisher’s exact test. Results: Majority of participants were male (51%) and had BMI in the range of normal to overweight (44% and 43.1% respectively). Loss of job was reported by 73% of participants and majority of participants were earning INR 6001 to 10000 before lockdown. The main reason for noncompliance was financial. Sex, migration, and source of medication were significantly related to medication compliance. Conclusions: Though most patients were compliant, the main reason for non-compliance was financial and related to migration.

Stomach complaints are still a common health problem. Among them, gastritis affects 25-33% of the total population of India, of which most of them belong to the age group of 15-50 years. There are two types of gastritis - acute and chronic. Acute gastritis is a mucosal inflammatory process that may be asymptomatic. Chronic gastritis is one of the most common serious epidemic infections, e.g. peptic ulcer or gastric ulcer. In the Unani system of medicine, gastritis is also known by many names: Hurqat-e-Meda, Sozish-e-Meda, Warm-e-Meda, and Ilttehab-e-Meda. Gastritis is most commonly caused due to metabolic stress, drug intake, and corrosive injuries. Other factors such as tobacco consumption, psychosocial stress, and nutritional factors also play an important role in its occurrence. We will discuss in detail the efficacy of some Unani herbal drugs in acute and chronic gastritis.

Unani medicine is an assortment of opinions, views, and concepts of the Greek and Arab scholars and is often termed as Greco-Arabmedicine. It is a traditional method of treatment, established on the concepts of renowned physician-philosopher Buqrat (Hippocrates) followed by Avicenna, Rhazes, Averroes and so on. Four modalities of treatment are described, of which Ilāj bit Tadbīr (regimental therapy) is one among them. Ilāj bit Tadbīr comprises different types of regimes for the accomplishment of health and disease-free life. Taleeq, Dalk, Fasd, Hijamah, Hamman etc. are various common regimes practised all over the world predominantly in the Middle East. Ilāj bit Tadbīrencompasses regimes that try to correct this disruption and help the body to restore itself. According to the Unani philosophy, every individual has a distinctive humoral constitution; health is attained when there is balance in the humors, and any imbalance leads to a disease condition. Faşd (venesection) is a part of Ilāj bit Tadbīr which involves blood-letting by placing an incision in specified veins. It is mentioned as a minor procedure meant for excretion of morbid matter which has both preventive and therapeutic benefits. Faşd has manifold benefits including istifrāgh (excretion) of wastes, removal of imtila (plethora), and reduction in viscosity of blood. Hence, if carried out according to guidelines, it serves as an effective treatment modality in many local and systemic disorders. The present paper aims at reviewing the literature to intricately discuss Fasd with special mention to Unani medicine.

Introduction: Temperament assessment is the key point on which whole of the Unani therapeutics depends. The various methods mentioned in classical Unani manuscripts are observation based liable to mistakes. Therefore, there is a need of searching some scientific methods of temperament assessment not the mere subjective parameters and that can be employed universally. Keeping this aim in mind this work was done in the department of Tashreeh wa Munafeul Aza, AKTC, AMU. Method: The author has submitted a thesis in which the IQ was established as a tool for assessment of individual temperament using Boolean logic. Then taking those data, fuzzy logic was applied and fuzzification of IQ levels was done. The results thus obtained were compared. Result: The assessment of individual temperament using Boolean Logic applied to IQ levels the individuals can be identified as Hot and Cold temperament persons. While applying fuzzy logic the subjects were identified as haar, baarid anf motadil temperament with specifications of degrees of temperaments. Conclusion: Fuzzification is the better method of assessment of individual temperament.

One of the biggest health hazards is a sedentary or inactive lifestyle. Sedentary behaviour entails spending too much time sitting or lying down without activity. Vital practices for good health are physical activity and regular exercise. However, many people do not exercise regularly. “All causes of death raised by Sedentary lifestyles, the risk of CVD, diabetes mellitus, and obesity doubled due to sedentary lifestyle and chances of colon cancer increase, development of high blood pressure, progression of osteoporosis, occurrence of lipid disorders, depression, and anxiety are also caused due to sedentary lifestyle. Sedentary behaviour is becoming a major public health concern according to the WHO. Despite being connected to a variety of chronic health disorders; sedentary lifestyles appear to be becoming more prevalent in many countries. The health concerns connected with a sedentary lifestyle are being confirmed by recent study.

Introduction: Psoriasis is considered one of the most chronic inflammatory disorders of the skin which affects almost about 2% world’s population. Their prevalence is low among the Asian and African populations. It is a multifactorial disease that primarily affects the skin and later on joints. Plaques in the case of psoriasis are thick and scaly due to abnormal keratinisation and abnormal keratinisation is most commonly seen in the case of scalp involvement. The scalp is the most common region affected in psoriasis that’s why effective therapeutic regimens are essential for the management of scalp psoriasis. Scalp psoriasis is characterised by the presence of reddish and scaly patches which can spread to the neck, forehead, and behind the ears. Objectives: Evaluation of Unani formulation as local application and Qushta Sadaf (calcium) as oral preparation in patients with scalp psoriasis.Method: The observational clinical study was carried out on patients with scalp psoriasis. Patients are advised to apply Unani formulation over the scalp and calcium supplements once a day for 5 weeks. The assessment of efficacy was evaluated by a decrease in subjective parameters. Results: The result was encouraging. Conclusion: The applied Unani formulation as local application and calcium as oral preparations were found to be effective and safe in the management of scalp psoriasis. However further studies are needed to be carried out for a longer time with a larger sample size to rule efficacy of the Unani formulation.

Tibb-e-Unani is an integral part of the Indian system of medicine. There are four important modes for the management and treatment of various diseases in Unani medicine, namely, nutrition therapy (Ilaj-bil-Ghiza), cognitional therapy (Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer), medicinal therapy (Ilaj-bil-Dawa) and surgery (Ilaj-bil-Yad). Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer is a treatment modification that involves a degree of change or tweak in the Asbab-e-sitta daruriya (six basic variables) for the well-being of people with disabilities or to prevent diseases in the general population. It incorporates some of the restorative intercessions, for example, Hijamah (cupping therapy), Irsale-Alaq (leech therapy), Fasad (phlebotomy), Dalak (massage), Nutul (irrigation), Abzan (Sitz bath) etc. Among these, Abzan is a novel, basic, protected, non-obtrusive and powerful external therapy. Basically, it is a type of shower where the buttocks and hips are poured into water for remedial purposes. Repeatedly, the entire reproductive system is immersed in water. This procedure is used to reduce inflammation and pain in the lower and upper extremities of the body, such as haemorrhoids, rectal prolapse, uterine spasms, uterine prolapse, pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome, episiotomy, bladder disease, prostate and vaginal problems etc. In the present paper, an attempt has been made to review the role of sitz bath in various gynaecological diseases.
它包含了一些恢复性的代祷,例如Hijamah(火罐疗法)、Irsale-Alaq(水蛭疗法)、Fasad(放血)、Dalak(按摩)、Nutul(灌溉)、Abzan(锡兹浴)等。

Musculoskeletal disorders are very common in today’s scenario, affecting daily activities and causing disability to some extent. The Unani medical system takes a holistic approach to the treatment of any disease or ailment. Unani medicine is extremely effective in treating musculoskeletal disorders. Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer (Regimenal therapy) is an important part of the Unani system of medicine for treating various musculoskeletal and psychological disorders by modifying the Asbab-e-sitta-zarooriah (six essential factors) of life for maintaining health and disease prevention. Cupping, leeching, inkebab, bukhoor, dalak, nutool, fasd, takmeed, and other modalities of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer can be very effective in treating a variety of musculoskeletal disorders.
