Radial Reference Map-Based Location Fingerprinting Technique 基于径向参考图的位置指纹识别技术

In this paper, we propose a radial reference map-based location fingerprinting technique with constant spacing from an access point (AP) to all reference points by considering the minimum dynamic range of the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) obtained through an experiment conducted in an indoor environment. Because the minimum dynamic range, 12 dBm, of the RSSI appeared every 20 cm during the training stage, a cell spacing of 80 cm was applied. Furthermore, by considering the minimum dynamic range of an RSSI in the location estimation stage, when an RSSI exceeding the cumulative average by ±6 dBm was received, a previously estimated location was provided. We also compared the location estimation accuracy of the proposed method with that of a conventional fingerprinting technique that uses a grid reference map, and found that the average location estimation accuracy of the conventional method was 21.8%, whereas that of the proposed technique was 90.9%.

Unequal Loss Protection Using Layer-Based Recovery Rate (ULP-LRR) for Robust Scalable Video Streaming over Wireless Networks 基于层恢复速率(ULP-LRR)的无线网络鲁棒可扩展视频流不均等丢失保护

Scalable video streaming over wireless networks has many challenges. The most significant challenge is related to packet loss. To overcome this problem, in this paper, we propose an unequal loss protection (ULP) method using a new forward error correction (FEC) mechanism for robust scalable video streaming over wireless networks. For an efficient FEC assignment considering video quality, we first introduce a simple and efficient performance metric, the layer-based recovery rate (LRR), for quantifying the unequal error propagation effects of the temporal and quality layers on the basis of packet losses. LRR is based on the unequal importance in both the temporal and the quality layers of a hierarchical scalable video coding structure. Then, the proposed ULP-LRR method assigns an appropriate number of FEC packets on the basis of the LRR to protect the video layers against packet lossy network environments. Compared with conventional ULP algorithms, the proposed ULP-LRR algorithm demonstrates a higher performance for various error-prone wireless channel statuses.

Cluster-Based Quantization and Estimation for Distributed Systems 基于聚类的分布式系统量化与估计

We consider a design of a combined quantizer and estimator for distributed systems wherein each node quantizes its measurement without any communication among the nodes and transmits it to a fusion node for estimation. Noting that the quantization partitions minimizing the estimation error are not independently encoded at nodes, we focus on the parameter regions created by the partitions and propose a cluster-based quantization algorithm that iteratively finds a given number of clusters of parameter regions with each region being closer to the corresponding codeword than to the other codewords. We introduce a new metric to determine the distance between codewords and parameter regions. We also discuss that the fusion node can perform an efficient estimation by finding the intersection of the clusters sent from the nodes. We demonstrate through experiments that the proposed design achieves a significant performance gain with a low complexity as compared to the previous designs.

Suppression of Parallel Plate Modes Using Edge-Located EBG Structure in High-Speed Power Bus 利用边缘定位EBG结构抑制高速电力母线中平行板模态

An edge-located electromagnetic bandgap (EL-EBG) structure using a defected ground structure (DGS) is proposed to suppress resonant modes induced by edge excitation in a two-dimensional planar parallel plate waveguide (PPW). The proposed EL-DGS-EBG PPW significantly mitigates multiple transverse-magnetic (TM) modes in a wideband frequency range corresponding to an EBG stopband. To verify the wideband suppression, test vehicles of a conventional PPW, a PPW with a mushroom-type EBG structure, and an EL-DGS-EBG PPW are fabricated using a commercial process involving printed circuit boards (PCBs). Measurements of the input impedances show that multiple resonant modes of the previous PPWs are significantly excited through an input port located at a PPW edge. In contrast, resonant modes in the EL-DGS-EBG PPW are substantially suppressed over the frequency range of 0.5 GHz to 2 GHz. In addition, we have experimentally demonstrated that the EL-DGS-EBG PPW reduces the radiated emission from −24 dB to −44 dB as compared to the conventional PPW.

Inductive Switching Noise Suppression Technique for Mixed-Signal ICs Using Standard CMOS Digital Technology 基于标准CMOS数字技术的混合信号集成电路电感开关噪声抑制技术

An efficient inductive switching noise suppression technique for mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs) using standard CMOS digital technology is proposed. The proposed design technique uses a parallel RC circuit, which provides a damping path for the switching noise. The proposed design technique is used for designing a mixed-signal circuit composed of a ring oscillator, a digital output buffer, and an analog noise sensor node for 0.13-µm CMOS digital IC technology. Simulation results show a 47% reduction in the on-chip inductive switching noise coupling from the noisy digital to the analog blocks in the same substrate without an additional propagation delay. The increased power consumption due to the damping resistor is only 67% of that of the conventional source damping technique. This design can be widely used for any kind of analog and high frequency digital mixed-signal circuits in CMOS technology.

QoE-Aware Mobility Management Scheme qoe感知移动管理方案

In this paper, we introduce a quality of experience (QoE)-provisioning mobility management scheme. The emphasis is on a mobility-aware QoE solution enabling network components to recognize the mobility pattern of an end-user and to prepare a handover in advance. We further focus on an energy-adaptive QoE solution based on the energy profile providing the preferred pattern of energy consumption and an energy preference check engine determining whether the provision of the service that the end-user requested is suitable to QoE or not. Lastly, we concentrate on a network-based intelligent mobility management scheme adopting the calm service and the balance. Consequently, we conclude that the proposed schemes improve the handover latency, QoE metrics, and energy efficiency simultaneously.

Concentric Core Fiber Design for Optical Fiber Communication 光纤通信中的同心芯光纤设计

Because of rapid technological advancements, increased data rate support has become the key criterion for future communication medium selection. Multimode optical fibers and multicore optical fibers are well matched to high data rate throughput requirements because of their tendency to support multiple modes through one core at a time, which results in higher data rates. Using the numerical mode solver OptiFiber, we have designed a concentric core fiber by investigating certain design parameters, namely core diameter (μm), wavelength (nm), and refractive index profile, and as a result, the number of channels, material losses, bending losses, polarization mode dispersion, and the effective nonlinear refractive index have been determined. Space division multiplexing is a promising future technology that uses few-mode fibers in parallel to form a multicore fiber. The experimental tests are conducted using the standard second window wavelength of 1,550 nm and simulated results are presented.

In this study, we investigate the physical layer secrecy performance of RF energy harvesting (EH) networks over Rayleigh fading channels. The RF–EH system considered here consists of one power transfer station, one source, one destination, and multiple passive eavesdroppers. The source harvests energy from the power transfer station and transmits the information to the destination by using a time switching-based relaying protocol. The eavesdroppers try to extract the transmitted information without an active attack. By using the statistical characteristics of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), the exact closed-form expressions of the existence probability of the secrecy capacity and the secrecy outage probability are derived. Further, we analyze the secrecy performance of the system with respect to various system parameters, such as the location of the system elements and the number of eavesdroppers. Finally, the equivalent Monte Carlo simulation results are provided to confirm the correctness of our calculations.

Safety Requirements and Test Methods of a Radiofrequency Stimulator 射频刺激器的安全要求和试验方法

In this study, we investigate the safety requirements and test methods of a radiofrequency stimulator. The main test items include controls of a minimum output, accommodation range, and output parameters that have been known as the safety requirements in conformity with international standards. As the test criteria for controlling the minimum output, an increase or decrease in a unit of 1 mA or 1 V or less was applied to the output amplitude regulator for both continuous and discontinuous control, and the output at the minimum setting was manipulated to not exceed 2% of the maximum setting. For controlling the output parameters, one of the representative test criteria states that the current limit of 250 mA should be equal to or less than 1,500 Hz. Consequently, when applying the radiofrequency stimulator on the human body, we need to ensure that the safety requirements conform to the international standards.

Proposed One-Minute Rain Rate Conversion Method for Microwave Applications in Korea 韩国微波应用的1分钟雨率转换方法

Microwave and millimeter waves are considered suitable frequency ranges for diverse applications. The prediction of rain attenuation required the 1-min rainfall rate distribution, particularly for data obtained locally from experimental measurement campaigns over a given location. Rainfall rate data acquired from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) for nine major sites are analyzed to investigate the statistical stability of the cumulative distribution of rainfall rate, as obtained from a 10-year measurement. In this study, we use the following rain rate conversion techniques: Segal, Burgueno et al., Chebil and Rahman, exponential, and proposed global coefficient methods. The performance of the proposed technique is tested against that of the existing rain rate conversion techniques. The nine sites considered for the average 1-min rain rate derivation are Gwangju, Daegu, Daejeon, Busan, Seogwipo, Seoul, Ulsan, Incheon, and Chuncheon. In this paper, we propose a conversion technique for a suitable estimation of the 1-min rainfall rate distribution.
