Wideband Suppression of Radiated Emissions from a Power Bus in High-Speed Printed Circuit Boards 高速印刷电路板中电源母线辐射发射的宽带抑制

We present experimental demonstrations of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures for the wideband suppression of radiated emissions from a power bus in high-speed printed circuit boards (PCBs). In most of the PCB designs, a parallel plate waveguide (PPW) structure is employed for a power bus. This structure significantly produces the wideband-radiated emissions resulting from parallel plate modes. To suppress the parallel plate modes in the wideband frequency range, the power buses based on the electromagnetic bandgap structure with a defected ground structure (DGS) are presented. DGSs are applied to a metal plane that is connected to a rectangular EBG patch by using a via structure. The use of the DGS increases the characteristic impedance value of a unit cell, thereby substantially improving the suppression bandwidth of the radiated emissions. It is experimentally demonstrated that the DGS–EBG structure significantly mitigates the radiated emissions over the frequency range of 0.5 GHz to 2 GHz as compared to the PPW.

Efficient Implementation of Simeck Family Block Cipher on 8-Bit Processor Simeck族分组密码在8位处理器上的高效实现

A lot of Internet of Things devices has resource-restricted environment, so it is difficult to implement the existing block ciphers such as AES, PRESENT. By this reason, there are lightweight block ciphers, such as SIMON, SPECK, and Simeck, support various block/key sizes. These lightweight block ciphers can support the security on the IoT devices. In this paper, we propose efficient implementation methods and performance results for the Simeck family block cipher proposed in CHES 2015 on an 8-bit ATmega128-based STK600 board. The proposed methods can be adapted in the 8-bit microprocessor environment such as Arduino series which are one of famous devices for IoT application. The optimized on-the-fly (OTF) speed is on average 14.42 times faster and the optimized OTF memory is 1.53 times smaller than those obtained in the previous research. The speed-optimized encryption and the memory-optimized encryption are on average 12.98 times faster and 1.3 times smaller than those obtained in the previous studies, respectively.

Color Compensation of an Underwater Imaging System Using Electromagnetic Wave Propagation 基于电磁波传播的水下成像系统色彩补偿

Images can be obtained by collecting rays from objects. The characteristics of electromagnetic wave propagation depend on the medium. In particular, in an underwater imaging system, the interface between air and water must be considered. Further, reflection and transmission coefficients can be found by using electromagnetic theory. Because of the fact that the values of these coefficients differ according to the media, the recorded light intensities will change. A color image sensor has three different color channels. Therefore, the reflection and transmission coefficients have to be calculated individually. Thereafter, by using these coefficients, we can compensate for the color information of underwater objects. In this paper, we present a method to compensate for the color information of underwater objects by using electromagnetic wave propagation theory. To prove our method, we conducted optical experiments and evaluated the quality of the compensated image by a metric known as mean square error.

Predistortion for Frequency-Dependent Nonlinearity of a Laser in RoF Systems RoF系统中激光频率相关非线性的预失真

In radio-over-fiber (RoF) systems, nonlinear compensation is essential to improve performance. Among the several existing nonlinear compensation techniques, we investigate a predistortion technique for a directly modulated laser in an RoF system. First, we obtain the input-to-output response of a directly modulated laser at 160, 820, and 1,540 MHz. The results show that the laser response is dependent on the frequency band. Second, we design an optimal predistortion circuit to compensate for the nonlinear responses of three frequency bands. We design the predistortion circuit with two options: each predistortion circuit for each frequency band and one single predistortion circuit for all the three frequency bands. Finally, we present the simulation results of the predistortion system obtained using a commercial simulator. These results show that the third intermodulation distortion (IMD3) is improved by 0.6–9 dB for the three frequency bands with only a single predistortion circuit.

Ontology Mapping and Rule-Based Inference for Learning Resource Integration 基于本体映射和规则推理的学习资源集成

With the increasing demand for interoperability among existing learning resource systems in order to enable the sharing of learning resources, such resources need to be annotated with ontologies that use different metadata standards. These different ontologies must be reconciled through ontology mediation, so as to cope with information heterogeneity problems, such as semantic and structural conflicts. In this paper, we propose an ontology-mapping technique using Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to generate semantic mapping rules that integrate learning resources from different systems and that cope with semantic and structural conflicts. Reasoning rules are defined to support a semantic search for heterogeneous learning resources, which are deduced by rule-based inference. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach enables the integration of learning resources originating from multiple sources and helps users to search across heterogeneous learning resource systems.

Touch Position Recovery Algorithm for Differential Sensing Touch Screen 差分感应触摸屏触摸位置恢复算法

Differential sensing methods are more effective in alleviating panel noise than single-line sensing, and thus have been increasingly used in the touch screen industry. However, they have a drawback: they tend to cancel out multiple touches and need touch position recovery algorithms. This paper introduces a novel algorithm of touch position recovery for differential sensing, which is a low-complexity but high-accuracy approach for determining multiple touch positions. We have implemented the proposed method in a touch screen controller system on a chip. In the simulation experiments using realistic touch screen models and a differential sensing circuit, the algorithm exhibited a high detection performance of a signal-tonoise ratio gain of up to 52.21 dB. Therefore, we can conclude that the proposed method is substantially more accurate than the previous method. Further, the proposed method incurs little or no overhead in terms of the detection speed and the chip size.

Performance Evaluation of the Complex-Coefficient Adaptive Equalizer Using the Hilbert Transform 基于希尔伯特变换的复系数自适应均衡器性能评价

In underwater acoustic communication, the transmitted signals are severely influenced by the reflections from both the sea surface and the sea bottom. As very large reflection signals from these boundaries cause an inter-symbol interference (ISI) effect, the communication quality worsens. A channel estimation-based equalizer is usually adopted to compensate for the reflected signals under the acoustic communication channel. In this study, a feed-forward equalizer (FFE) with the least mean squares (LMS) algorithm was applied to a quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK) transmission system. Two different types of equalizers were adopted in the QPSK system, namely a real-coefficient equalizer and a complex-coefficient equalizer. The performance of the complex-coefficient equalizer was better than that of two real-coefficient equalizers. Therefore, a Hilbert transform was applied to the real-coefficient binary phase-shift keying (BPSK) system to obtain a complex-coefficient BPSK system. Consequently, we obtained better results than those of a real-coefficient equalizer.

Image-Based Maritime Obstacle Detection Using Global Sparsity Potentials 基于图像的基于全局稀疏度的海上障碍物检测

In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for image-based maritime obstacle detection using global sparsity potentials (GSPs), in which “global” refers to the entire sea area. The horizon line is detected first to segment the sea area as the region of interest (ROI). Considering the geometric relationship between the camera and the sea surface, variable-size image windows are adopted to sample patches in the ROI. Then, each patch is represented by its texture feature, and its average distance to all the other patches is taken as the value of its GSP. Thereafter, patches with a smaller GSP are clustered as the sea surface, and patches with a higher GSP are taken as the obstacle candidates. Finally, the candidates far from the mean feature of the sea surface are selected and aggregated as the obstacles. Experimental results verify that the proposed approach is highly accurate as compared to other methods, such as the traditional feature space reclustering method and a state-of-the-art saliency detection method.

Clustering Scheme for (m, k)-Firm Streams in Wireless Sensor Networks 无线传感器网络中(m, k)-Firm流的聚类方案

As good example of potential application-specific requirement, (m,k)-firm real-time streams have been recently introduced to deliver multimedia data efficiently in wireless sensor networks. In addition to stream model, communication protocols to meet specific (m,k)-firm real-time streams have been newly developed or extended from existing protocols. However, since the existing schemes for an (m,k)-firm stream have been proposed under typical flat architecture, the scalability problem remains unsolved when the number of real-time flows increases in the networks. To solve this problem, in this paper, we propose a new clustering scheme for an (m,k)-firm stream. The two different clustering algorithms are performed according to either the (m,k)-firm requirement or the deadline. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the suitability of the proposed scheme under hierarchical architecture by showing that its performance is acceptable irrespective of the increase in the number of flows.

Hybrid Power Management System Using Fuel Cells and Batteries 使用燃料电池和电池的混合动力管理系统

In the future, hybrid power management systems using fuel cells (FCs) and batteries will be used as the driving power systems of ships. These systems consist of an FC, a converter, an inverter, and a battery. In general, an FC provides steady-state energy; a battery provides the dynamic energy in the start state of a ship for enabling a smooth operation, and provides or absorbs the peak or dynamic power when the load varies and the FC cannot respond immediately. The FC voltage range is very wide and depends on the load; Therefore, the FC cannot directly connect to the inverter. In this paper, we propose a power management strategy and design process involving a unidirectional converter, a bidirectional converter, and an inverter, considering the ship’s operating conditions and the power conditions of the FC and the battery. The presented experimental results were verified through a simulation.
