Design of a linear non-uniform antenna array for a 77-GHz MIMO FMCW radar 77 ghz MIMO FMCW雷达线性非均匀天线阵列设计

In this paper the design and the implementation of a linear, non-uniform antenna array for a 77-GHz MIMO FMCW system that allows for the estimation of both the distance and the angular position of a target are presented. The goal is to achieve a good trade-off between the main beam width and the side lobe level. The non-uniform spacing in addition with the MIMO principle offers a superior performance compared to a classical uniform half-wavelength antenna array with an equal number of elements. However the design becomes more complicated and can not be tackled using analytical methods. Starting with elementary array factor considerations the design is approached using brute force, stepwise brute force, and particle swarm optimization. The particle swarm optimized array was also implemented. Simulation results and measurements are presented and discussed.

RF energy harvesting design using high Q resonators 使用高Q谐振器的射频能量收集设计

This paper presents a new method for rectifying low ambient radiation sources to supply autonomous measurement systems such as microsystems. An impedance transformation with high quality factor (Q) in front of a Schottky-Diode using a quartz resonator at 24 MHz is presented. In addition to an analytic computation and nonlinear simulation of the rectifier circuit with Advanced Design System (ADS) software, the circuit was built and the efficiency of the RF Energy Harvesting system was measured. The design has been optimized to achieve maximum sensitivity. The measurement results show a sensitivity of −30 dBm (1 µW) for DC output voltage of 1 V and an efficiency of more than 22 %.

Synthesizer concepts for FMCW based locatable wireless sensor nodes 基于FMCW的可定位无线传感器节点合成器概念

Local positioning systems significantly enhance the value of wireless sensor networks (WSN). This paper first motivates the use of WSN with exemplary application scenarios. Afterwards it shortly addresses the basics of frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) systems. Several common synthesizer concepts for FMCW radars are shown. The paper focuses on a novel integrated synthesizer for localization using frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. The synthesizer is based on a fractional-n phase-locked loop (PLL) architecture. All components of the PLL are carefully designed with respect to their performance and power consumption. The complete synthesizer was manufactured in a 0.18 µm SiGe BiCMOS process from IBM, and it draws only 39mA from the supply. It achieves a phase noise better than −113 dBc/Hz and has a silicon area of 1.15mm2. Due to its high integration level and its optimized design, the synthesizer achieves low power consumption and low phase noise that makes it suitable for precise localization in mobile sensor nodes. Localization measurements in indoor environments with multipath propagation showed mean distance errors about 13 cm.

An optimization approach for robust transformation of measured range data into position estimates in wireless networks 无线网络中测量距离数据鲁棒转换为位置估计的优化方法

This paper introduces a generalized framework for positioning mobile nodes in a wireless network. The transformation of the range data measured between pairs of network nodes into a spatial position is a very challenging task if the range measurements are distorted. Typical distortions in wireless ranging systems are caused by an imperfect clock synchronization or by multipath reflection. The positioning method proposed in this paper overcomes problems of the traditional circular or hyperbolic methods and allows for the detection and elimination of distorted measurements. The positioning is done in a non-Markovian manner, which is an advantage over other available methods, especially the Kalman-based positioning methods, since linear assumptions in the dynamics are avoided. Another advantage of the proposed method is that the two tasks positioning and smoothing are carried out separately. Hence, smoothing of the position data, e.g. by means of a Kalman filter, is possible without the well documented problems in conventional methods induced by the usually applied simplifying assumptions of linear dynamics. The very good performance of the presented approach is demonstrated by real life results obtained in industrial environments.

Adaptive matching for efficiency enhancement of GAN class-F power amplifiers 氮化镓f类功率放大器效率提升的自适应匹配

In this work a 6 W GaN based class-F amplifier is presented. The presented amplifier uses an adaptive matching output network to achieve high efficiency over 8.5 dB output dynamic range. The output matching network is an L matching network with a tunable inductor and a tunable capacitor. The tunable inductor is based on a ⋋/4 impedance inverter and a switchable capacitor bank. The tunable inductor presents a short circuit for the second harmonic and an open circuit to the third harmonic; additionally together with the tunable capacitor they present the optimum working impedance for the transistor. The designed amplifier has a power added efficiency of 72.0 % at an output power of 38 dBm and through using adaptive matching it can achieve a PAE of 58% at an output power of 29.5 dBm, in contrast to a PAE of only 26% in the case of using a fixed matching network.

A filter bank based ultra-wideband receiver front-end for ranging applications 一种基于滤波器组的超宽带测距接收机前端

This paper is intended to detail the practical implementation of a receiver front-end, used in an impulse radio ultra-wideband testbed for low data rate communications and ranging. The receiver architecture consists of a filter bank followed by a downconversion stage that relaxes the analog-to-digital converters requirements in terms of input analog bandwidth. The filter bank is implemented by a four-way Wilkinson power divider and by a set of four Gaussian filters. A low noise amplifier stage precedes the filter bank limiting the receiver noise figure and providing the required gain for medium range communications.

Performance of a limiting amplifier in white and colored noise 限幅放大器在白噪声和彩色噪声下的性能

Nonlinear receiver architectures are often employed in low-power wireless communications to reduce hardware complexity and power consumption at the cost of a degradation in performance compared to their linear counterparts. This work presents analytical and statistical methods to quantify this degradation in performance. It is shown that the maximum degradation is equal to −1.96 dB in terms of output signal to noise ratio. If the noise is colored, e.g. due to a preceding channel filter, the performance degradation can be reduced significantly.

Location aware mobility assisted services for heterogeneous wireless technologies 异构无线技术的位置感知移动性辅助服务

Mobile user tracking and seamless service continuity in heterogeneous network environments represent an issue, especially when users move from outdoor to indoor environments, and vice versa. Mobile terminals with these properties allow providers to enable new services. In this paper, a location aware mobility-assisted technique for both indoor and outdoor environments is presented. The technique provides local positioning service and non-homogeneous connectivity management for UMTS, IEEE 802.11, and GPS networks.

Miniature circularly polarized antenna for SAW sensor measurements 用于SAW传感器测量的微型圆极化天线

A novel miniature antenna for a wireless pressure measurement system based on a passive Surface-Acoustic-Wave (SAW) sensor is presented in this paper. The SAW sensor used for this application works at 434MHz in the Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) band. The miniature antenna (λ/12 × λ/17 × λ/63) [6 × 4 × 1.2cm3] consists of a Planar Inverted F Antenna with a spiral slot. The antenna presents a radiation efficiency of 50%, a bandwidth of 1.75MHz (0.4%) and a left hand circular polarization (LHCP). The SAW sensor as well as the antenna design and the association of both elements are exposed.

Time synchronization for Real Time Localization Systems with multi path mitigation 多路径实时定位系统的时间同步

Accurate localization Systems, based on the measurement of the time of flight of a signal between radio devices, also known as Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) are becoming increasingly important especially in indoor applications. Due to severe multi path conditions, the largest problem for those RTLS systems is to detect the time of arrival of signals traveling over the direct line of sight path. We present issues of an new High Resolution Direct Path Tracker (HRDPT) architecture, that allows an efficient hardware implementation of a high resolution method for multi path mitigation, and demonstrate first results.
